Nice. How does a 2021 engine lose its bearings already? Lack of oil? Design flaw? Edit: I retract my question, but I don’t understand how your timing chain and starter gave you the impression that the crank was toast.
Thanks! I'm glad to hear the you are learning things! This is honestly one of my first times doing a engine rebuild lol! Part 3 Should be out in about a week hopefully!
You adjusted the timing chain first and then let it run but the knocking was still there. If it was caused by the timing chain: why was the knock still there? If the chain got stuck it wouldn't run at all since the valves would not be moving?
I think you had a little misunderstanding what i mean by the timing being off is that the valves are opening at the wrong time and making a knock. If this happens you may bend your valves. The timing chain actually never fell off. But I guess i can say I got lucky and my timing chain was timed properly! Watch part three where I fixed it! But it turned out to be a piston and cylinder!
I want to buy a yz450f 2022 here in Guadalajara Mexico but watching your video I have doubts about the faults that Yamaha has recently presented. Why do you think that cylinder and piston on that motorcycle and the chain were damaged? so fast. Best regards and your video is very good.
Yamaha bikes are great! The reason this happened is the fellow i bought it from never warmed it up. Which caused a low oil in the top end and the cylinder and piston was ruined. Since I rebuilt this bike I've has zero issues!
@@RadMachines I really like the suspension and how the yz450f handles. I tried a 2021 but it seemed like a lot of power to me as a 45 year old intermediate veteran. Best regards
Is that Possible? I never seen that happen. My starter works fine. What we think happened is a small metal shaving got into the cylinder and damaged it. Maybe not a small one but I never found anything that's broken yet!
@@RadMachines yea it could’ve been some unseen damage from top end wear and a small shaving was caught between the piston and cylinder and could’ve caused that scorch, it could’ve been the camshaft or the cam tensioner or when the crankshaft was loose at the time could’ve caused the scorch as well
I just bought a 2021 and If I already had to do this I would be pissed. I change my oil every 2/3 hours to prevent this kind of thing. How often were you changing your oil and how many hours you got on it?
Yea you have to take good care of them. I bought it with the knocking motor. I believe this happened from the previous owner not warming it up properly before riding. Also always run premium gas in it it will run a lot better.
@@RadMachines when you run VP or other clean racing fuel you don’t have black carbon deposits all over the piston and or valves. They look super clean. Pump gas is so dirty
