Thank you, I was putting the sprint in the wrong place on mine, seems like it goes on top of the gear, but then I couldn't get the top to sit properly - it literally fell apart when I took it out of the housing so I didn't get a chance to see where everything originally went. I watched several videos none helped finally I found yours! MVP!
Much appreciated. I disassembled my 202 and painted it gloss grey with spray paint! It matches my rod now, and I appreciate the custom, toned-down-look.
Fantastic video Matt, really made servicing my Zebco 202 easy. A friend in high school allowed me to use his dad's Zebco 202 many moons ago, and after that I became a long life Zebco customer. A whole lot easier than replacing head gaskets on a Ford Escape too! Gonna try and restore that Zebco 202 from 1991 in my parents garage after watching a few of Matthew's videos.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching. I think this reel could be used for fish up to 4 or five pounds. If taken care of, it should last several seasons.
Thank you for the tutorial my good sir my reel is rusting and idk how to disassemble or assemble it back you are one of the greatest sir I've seen in RU-vid
I recommend spraying the rusty parts down with penetrating oil, like WD-40 and let it sit for a couple hours and then try again. If it is too rusted, you may need to replace the reel.
Someone gave me a zebco fishing pole plus one for my son a collapsible dragon sport pole I don’t know what to do or where to start! I’m 38 years old last time I went fishing was 11 years old with a uncle
I remember when WalMart sold them $2.99 .Us kids cleaned, lubed, put new line on the river bank while keeping 10 poles baited catching fish. The man that took us was in a chaise lounge under shade trees watching us fish long sections of Mississippi River.FunFunFun
My first fishing reel was the original 202 as it had just come out. I had many happy years, and fish caught with it. I was sold on closed face reel from then on. I would have no problem showing up with a new 202. In fact I may go get one, just to drive my purists friends nuts. Thanks, good information.
I have a friend like that, actually has a couple $700 baitcast reels and fishes farm ponds. I'm his token poor friend, my reels were purchased from yard sales and auctions. He gets befuddle when I show up with a 1940's baitcast or a $2 reel and catch fish with it.
Thanks for sharing! I love all things Zebco. New or old. I do wish there were Zebco reels made in the USA. A line of top grade Zebco Spin Cast and other Zebcos.
@Outfishing13 buen video , me fallo al querer quitar la tapa que dijiste salia jirandola , quebre dientes del engrane , pero quite el resorte de atras y salio esa pueza , gracias pude solucionar mi problema
This is the first time I have heard of the Bullet Mg. The Bullet Magnesium. So I had to look it up. 20% lighter than the Bullet. Cool. But it would be cooler if it was made from Titanium! It will be exactly like the older version on the inside. See my service video for the Bullet. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F26a_hfOMqo.html
I have the Dock Demon spin-cast reel. What to do if the steel rotor will not come off? It's stuck, and has signs of corrosion. I sprayed some WD40 to no avail. If I hold the handle tightly and try to turn the rotor, it's the handle that starts unscrewing first.
Hi, That is a tough one. Maybe its time to get a new reel. Once they get stuck there isn't much you can do. See this video for one option. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7XJE_M4DMfM.html
Found this on the net… remove the rear cover and jam a piece of light cotton fabric (T shirt) between the drive gears and the head twists right off with no damage.
Wow, I thought the 202 went the way of the dodos. I do however still have an original vintage 101 combo with wood rod handle and 3 foot rod with 3 eyes.
@@OutFishing13Matthew It is a green and cream/green rod. Only name black block letter/ number Zebco 101. Have received offers but it be my hand me down grandkids.
On the grease, would I find it at Walmart? Fishing section or is this like in automotive? Or do I need to go to an outdoor store like bass pro to get this? Is there any major difference between the 202 and the splash reels or do they basically go the same way? Just checking before I try and do this.
@@OutFishing13Matthew On the spinner cone assembly, what do I do if it isn't easily coming off? I feel like I am going to break the reel. I got the grease and oil. (Walmart did have it). Mine has the little thing stuck as well that catches the line and I can't seem to remove the assembly. Like, it won't move on the threads at all.
@@WolfsDE I am sorry to hear that is happening to you. I have had to send reels like that to zebco since the threads on the spinner cone could br cross threaded at the factory.
Is there any way to switch sides on the reel? I wanted a cheap and easy one to go along with my other reel so I could fish with friends, but I realized too late it's not on the side I'd like.
Thanks for the asking and giving me a reminder. I will do it this week if possible and get the video edited. So, it will be about 3 weeks. Sorry for making you wait.
That is a great question. Maybe I should try an experiment and fish with it the whole year and only use that reel until it fails. Nah... that wouldn't be fair to all my other reels...
