Thanks for this vid. My gears must be too tight or maybe the steel hollow rod that the spring mounted gear rod slips through in the center of the piece is too narrow. I am going to pick up some grease and I’ll and go through this again. Great vid and really helpful for me as I clean this up and learn about it.
I had a 202,404,606,33 and a 888 , growing up as a kid. Fished Galveston, Texas City Dike, Moses Lake....caught fish like trout, redfish but a lot of croakers and whitings. I long for the gift of childhood.
I appreciate seeing all the inner workings so i could do maintenance on a 404 I picked up at an estate sale for $2. The pin for the drag system was broken like you mentioned.

The water here in Utah has been so low that the fishing has been really difficult. I can't even get my boat on some of the lakes. It is crazy. Have a happy holiday season, Ed.
Great video! Super informative, but I’m wondering if anyone could help with resetting the anti-reverse pin. My husband got a lure stuck in the tree, and I unfortunately didn’t realize I was cranking the wrong way. I see my pin is in the wrong place and is now grinding the gears. I’ve got it disassembled and the pin out but am finding it impossible to get back in place.
