It has been 9 years since I planted the Blue Spruce Trees. I have inserted the links here for you to be able to see the growing status of these trees.
2013 - Planting Day • 2013.05.15 - Planting ...
2017 - Four Years Later • 2017.07.19 - Colorado ...
2019 - Six Years Later • 2019.07.31 - Colorado ...
I would be venture to believe they are now about 9-13 foot tall. Considering I planted them all when they were about 1 foot tall I think they are doing great. None of the trees died and only one has had some growing problems.

Hi Ben àn update on my two Colorado Blue Spruces. I've been treating them with Beyer tree 12month treatment and ferlizer and they are doing much better. They have put on tons of new growth and the limbs are thickening up with new growth. New growth has occurred on old branches. I went one step further than twelve month. Ive treated them with the Beyer every 3 months with the 12 month mixture. Its wrk I ng and they are alot healthier and ive been watering them alot more in June, July, and August.

Ben i know that you pruned the small one to encourage a leader. Have you had to prune the larger trees. I really love them.

Thanks for your question and kind words! I did prune the small one to encourage a strong leader, and I've done some light pruning on the larger trees as well to maintain their shape and health. It’s amazing to see how they’ve grown over the years. Glad you love them as much as I do! Stay tuned for more updates and don’t forget to subscribe for more tree care tips and updates. 🌲✂️😊

The one that's not doing well may actually be a dwarf globe spruce that mistakenly got mixed in with the others at purchase. If so, it's supposed to look like that.
@benplikerdsminute
@benplikerdsminute 2 месяца назад
Ah, that mix-up could definitely explain the difference! Dwarf globe spruces do have a unique appearance compared to the typical Colorado Blue Spruce. It’s always a good idea to double-check the labels when purchasing. Glad you figured out the mystery! Keep an eye on it, and who knows, it might turn out to be a charming addition to your garden. Thanks for watching, and don’t forget to subscribe for more gardening adventures! 🌳✨

The blue spruce look really good. I planted 2 in georgia and they seem to be affected by some type of boer. The lower limbs are thin have little knots on them and resin seems to leak out leavingca geyish blue film behind.

Thanks for the compliment on the spruces! It sounds like your trees in Georgia are facing a challenge. The symptoms you're describing - thin lower limbs, knots, and resin leakage - could be signs of a borer infestation. It's a common issue with spruces, especially when they're stressed. I'd suggest contacting a local arborist or tree specialist for a closer look and treatment options. Early intervention can make a big difference. Keep up the good care, and let's hope your spruces bounce back soon! And remember, for more tree tips and updates, hit that subscribe button!

I recently noticed little flat black bugs on the tip of my blue spruce.. any idea what thise might be? I sprayed them but they still seem to be on it. Other then those it is growing well, planted it 4 years ago.

It sounds like your spruce might be dealing with aphids or another type of pest common to spruces. It's good that you've already taken action by spraying. Sometimes, it might take a few treatments to fully manage the pests, and using a specific insecticide designed for spruce pests can be more effective. Monitoring the tree regularly will help you catch any resurgence early. Keep up the good care, and thanks for updating us on your tree’s progress! you should've planted them 20' ft apart. They will get up to 10ft on each side of the pine tree.

How far apart did you plant them?
@benplikerdsminute
@benplikerdsminute 2 месяца назад
I planted the Colorado Blue Spruce trees about 10 feet apart to give them plenty of room to grow and spread their branches as they mature. It's important to consider their full size in the future to avoid overcrowding. How's your gardening project going? My husband and I just bought a little blue spruce in Decatur , TX. Any helpful hints for a successful tree? We bought it for a Christmas tree while we have to live in a 20 ft sardine can until our new home that Is being built. Our old one got hit by an F3 tornado in Jacksboro, TX on 3/21/22. Any advice will help! Thank you in advance! 🙏😁

I'm thrilled to hear about your new blue spruce adventure in Decatur, TX! 🌲 Here's a tip: make sure your spruce has plenty of sunlight and doesn't feel too crowded - they love their space just like we do. Also, consistent watering (but not too much!) is key, especially in the early stages. Sorry to hear about your old home, but I'm sending all my positive vibes for your new beginnings. Stay strong and keep growing, just like your spruce! 🌟 And don't forget to subscribe for more green-thumb wisdom! 💚👍

I want to plant 5 blue spruces in a row and I want them to grow the same height and width together. Is there anyway to ensure that it could happen?
@benplikerdsminute
@benplikerdsminute 3 месяца назад
Planting a row of blue spruces sounds like a wonderful project! To ensure they grow uniformly in height and width, here are a few tips: Firstly, choose trees that are similar in size and shape when you purchase them. Plant them in well-draining soil and ensure they receive consistent and adequate water, especially in their early years. Regularly check for pests or diseases, as these can affect growth. Additionally, providing similar sunlight exposure for all the trees can promote even growth. While nature always has its own course, these steps can help you get as close as possible to your goal. Happy planting, and if you love gardening tips or tree updates, consider subscribing for more content. Best of luck with your blue spruces! 🌲🌲🌲

What zone and state are located. Is there a synthetic treatment I can use?
@benplikerdsminute
@benplikerdsminute 5 месяцев назад
Great questions! These Colorado Blue Spruces are thriving in Zone 4, but I'll keep the exact state a secret - let's just say it's somewhere where these trees feel right at home! As for synthetic treatments, I'm not an expert in that area. I recommend consulting a local arborist or a tree care specialist for the best advice. They can provide tailored suggestions for your specific needs and environment. Thanks for your interest and don't forget to subscribe for more tree updates!
