Every subaru turbo engine should get this mod. We tend to get a lot of blow by (oil in the air) that we need to clean up. The 2022-2023 WRX is no different in this regard. We have a system that recirculates the oil back into the intake manifold. With catch cans we can literally catch the oil and empty it ourselfs. This way we can keep our engines clean! Make sure to grab yourself a catch can system!

If you don't have an AOS or a catch can what are you even doing?! Hurry and get one!

Pro tip on getting stuck hoses off like that - take a radiator hose pick (fairly cheap at harbor freight) and run it around the inside of the end of the hose with the pointy end of the pick facing towards the housing that the hose is fitted to. This vid illustrates it well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QIvM5o5Q83I.htmlsi=WA71mH3s1fEhbhMI

@@diallo1347 yes. They’re still high compression engines. But if you’re only keeping it for 5 years and don’t care about it after that,… That and this could cause denial of warranty issues, definitely check with your dealer before doing anything if you care about the warranty. I don’t have personal issues with this but going by everything I’ve heard sounds like you’d be very lucky for the dealer to be okay with a catch can even with nothing else changed.

I installed the Mishimoto catch can on my '22 WRX almost a year ago. The worst part of the install is so much stuff is hard to get to with very little room to work. The Mishimoto is only on the PCV side as that is where most of the junk oil/water mix will come from. I check the can every few months - so far I've found very little gunk in there.

It took me about an hour to install my killer b aos and so far love it ive had it for about 4 months now and it was extremely easy andlove the fact that it doesn’t need a tune! Definitely recommend!

I ordered an AOS. Didnt take long after adding more boost to have oil ending up in my intake causing knock. Caught it basically right as it happened though luckily. Just keep out of boost in the meantime
@HeavyMetalWRX
@HeavyMetalWRX 9 месяцев назад
It's definitely good to have if you know you're gonna push it. Some find it useless at stock and that's fine. It's just something to help the longevity of the engine.

@HeavyMetalWRX it surprised me after some spirited driving after my tune how much oil I lost. My dam dropped and seen knock readings so caught it right away thankfully

I think these companies assume every guy has Teflon tape laying around. Pro tip - the grey tape is way better according to a plumber I was talking to recently. Speaking of shifters, I installed the Cobb light weight shift knob and I really like it. I was surprised how heavy the factory knob is. I realize the heavy knobs have a smoother feel but I wanted to reduce the mass as much as possible.

I did provide that feedback to Killer B. Hopefully they think of adding a bit in the box to make it easier.

With the catch cans the wing nuts on the bottom of them should be spun out. Do not take the whole copper thread out. Just spin the sliver wing nut. The wing nut all the way up opens the valve to drain them. If you put your finger under them while the car is running you can feel the air come out

Thank you for making the video @HeavymetalWRX. However, I don’t think these are worth the premium that Killer B is asking for them as they are a 3D printed polymer catch can and the Radium catch can (aluminum)set or the IAG AOS can be had for not much more money. Polymer parts, especially ones with some very small diameter tubing such as these are not great getting heat cycled.
@HeavyMetalWRX
@HeavyMetalWRX 9 месяцев назад
I would imagine that Killer b did all their research. The hoses are similar to what I had on the perrin AOS. Plus the polymer they are using is designed for heat and automotive use. I highly doubt they would build something for a car that would fall apart in a car. Killer b has made some fantastic products and unless i see them melting (which I have a few people who have been running them for a few months) I feel like it's fine.
@Mantis489
@Mantis489 9 месяцев назад
I think that Killer B makes great products as well, and that the hoses, fittings, and hardware on this kit are more than adequate. However after handling the catch cans in person and seeing how they are drained, they simply turn me off from how plasticity they feel and how fragile the drain plugs appear to be on the bottom of the can. These catch cans will need to be manipulated often to drain them and that’s where my longevity concerns come in. I’ve had Radium’s cans on other cars and will most likely be going that route for my VB based on the construction comparison of the two. Good video though, cool to see you helping out a buddy install some parts and getting some wrench time in.
@KushestWRX
@KushestWRX 9 месяцев назад
Hey buddy, by any chance, do you know the size of that adapter that replaces the stock one. I'm actually building my own catch can kit using a cheaper Amazon catch can but that is the part where I'm stuck right now. After seeing this video though I see my answer, just change out that fitting to 1/2 inch fitting and my setup will be complete. To me the replacement brass fitting looks like it may be 1/2 inch which would be perfect for my 1/2 inch pcv hose. My dual catch can setup will cost people less than $150 and work just as well
@KushestWRX
@KushestWRX 9 месяцев назад
If you could measure the threaded side of the stock fitting that would help me out a lot.
@HeavyMetalWRX
@HeavyMetalWRX 9 месяцев назад
Hey man! I'm pretty sure it's a half inch fitting ( the hose side). Let me dig through the instructions and I'll get back to you. It may have that Info on there. If not I can ask killer b!

What’s the difference between the killer bee setup and the iag/perrin options?
@HeavyMetalWRX
@HeavyMetalWRX 9 месяцев назад
IAG and Perrin are AOS. A bit more involved but usually a "set it and forget it" solution. The Killer B system is catch cans so you actually have to clean out the cans but you can see what's accumulated. They are also a bit cheaper. It just depends on the person and use case.

True, it's not necessary for ALL applications but those pushing the engine hard a lot ( aka me) we can use some added longevity.

If you add a tune with more boost you get blow by which can cause aerated oil to end up in your intake which causes pre detonation. Not useless if your adding power
