However, I also encourage you to shop around at your local running shops to find the best gear for your race and goals (ESPECIALLY SHOES, if you’re new to this). THIS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE AN EXPENSIVE SPORT. There are many ways to get gear cheaper, make your own nutrition, and shop the sales for shoes. For example, REI garage sales are great for discounted gear!

What a beautiful place to race. Are you going to be filming the race?

I will probably be helping with the live streaming on Saturday for the 100K and then I'll be doing the 60K on Sunday!

Such a beautiful trail! Would you recommend it for a first 100k?
@VIVSVIBE
@VIVSVIBE 2 года назад
Hmmm that’s a good question. I think it’s a beautiful course. The net downhill makes for an easier first half so maybe yeah! I’d recommend it over Bandera, which was my first because it’s much more fun and the views are better.

Heck yeah! It's perfect for a first 100k! It was my first actually. This is an odd race because you get tip top pros competing for golden tickets, but also, it's very beginner friendly. Aravaipa in general has great events with good aid stations, well marked course, and enough runners to never be left alone. Also this course in particular is really fun, not that difficult or technical, and has loads of single tracks - which means conga line. Seems annoying but it's a great way to pace yourself for your first time. Only negative is that the point to point course is cool, but makes dropbag logistic harder (e.g., where will you be when the sun goes down?)

@@runningwithsimon Thanks! I'm a real noob, the farthest I've done was 50 miles and I didn't use drop bags. Why do you need them if there are aid stations?

@@VIVSVIBE Thanks! Are you familiar with 100k events in CA by any chance? I know of Quicksilver and some in the Marin Headlands, but those have a ton of climbing and maybe I could pick an easier 100k for a first one.

I use them bc I don’t eat anything from aid stations.
