2022 C8 Corvette C8.R Edition Review! The best just got better! 

The beauty of the C8 is not just it’s looks. It has an amazing ability to be a comfortable daily driver or cross continent tourer and to be a kick-a$$ car on the track. That is not an easy thing to accomplish. I’m still trying to get there with my supercharged 2013 Mustang GT.

Chevrolet doesn't need to look any farther for a Corvette Spokesman. Your skill at describing the features of the car is incredible, the detail you offer up extraordinary. I've been a fan of yours for some time, Austin, and you only get better at what you do with every passing day. Oh, and the car looks fabulous btw, but I, too, will wait for the Z06 given the $$ involved. Actually, I'll hang onto my C7 for a while until the craziness of getting a C8 (any spec) quiets down.

I'm so happy everybody is excited about the Z06. This will allow me to finally put a normal order next year for regular C8. Z06 is great, but as daily regular C8 is just better.

I love the corvette and new upcoming Z06. But this is just a corvette with appearance package with stripes and stickers.

I am hard to please in terms of what I like in a car channel. You are fast becoming one of my favorites

You said this “feels like a 100k car” how much did you pay for it if you don’t mind me asking? Because with all the options my guess is you are close to 100k?

It is just a "sticker package" in that you can spec out a car pretty much identical with the exception of the stickers and wheel color. Collectability....maybe. There are lots of cars running around that are "special editions". Give it 30-40 years and we can take another look...see ya in 2055!

I have 0706/1000. Quite a few different options on mine. Coupe. Added graphics, added stitching, but still... I love it.

Love the Hypersonic Gray, it looks a bit like the Shark Gray on my C7. It would be a toss up for me between Hypersonic Gray and Elkhart Lake Blue. But definitely an HTC with Carbon Flash painted roof and nacelles, also the mirrors and spoiler. Great video and that looks like a thrill driving down the mountain into the clouds!

I posted this in another video. The C8R paint option should be limited to the Z06, since it is more closely related to the C8R. Putting on the slowest C8 GM makes seems counter intuitive.

I think what is sad according to a couple of the RU-vidrs that that package alone is $40,000 for that plus the price of the car like someone else commented too bad it doesn’t have more horsepower than the standard stingray.

I like the blacked out pillars behind the roof. It really helps with balancing those black side intakes. This spec is very well balanced.

Such cool driving conditions, sunny and blue skies one second and thick fog the next.

I have changed my mind….sell Z06 for market value now before prices drop! Then get an ERay or next variant. Don’t sell less than 225.00 there is a KC auction coming up in Fall

I ordered an HTC, 2LT with GT2 seats. This was an obvious choice for me, as I am not going to track the car.

Nice C8, but actually your mainly getting a bunch of stickers put on a 3LT and paying a premium for it with no extra performance. Save your money and get 1LT or 2LT w/ Z51 with a magnetic ride, or wait for the Z06.

Love this C8-R edition. So what if you didn't wait for a Z06. First model years of the ZO6 is gonna have problems just like any other first year car. Just get a Z06 a couple years later after they improve the first year gremlins. Great looking car. Love Corvette racing.

16:12 I’ve noticed that piece of rubber in every c8. It is always in a weird shape. Some of them doesn’t even cover the pillar which leaves a huge gap on the pillar panel.

Austin - it appears that it is more of a graphics package than anything else….if you really want a C8R type corvette, than the Z06 is closer to the actual race car than yours (ie. engine). This edition is beautiful but I am just as happy with my 2020 C8 3LT convertible…..in Rapid Blue…..but of course your car is special due to the package details …. But it kinda reminds me of the transformer edition of the Camaro…..OK badging and stripes are cool as is the Z51 package, but why not wait for the Z06 and get a real track car….

Austin, how about doing something different with this C8.... how about just adding a great CAM to bump HP UP at least 50HP and compare it to your stock HP yellow eyeball burner .. No one has done that and since you are in the driver's seat, you could easily do it!... maybe even an injector upgrade and TB?

I will say that shedding weight is very important to people who like performance in their car and the convertible does add that 100 plus pounds. The better shifting or smoother shifting is a very fantastic upgrade. I don't know if some of that can be done for the 2020. I also think time and temperature is also an important upgrade. AF

With these limited edition hopefully these will sell for a lot more as time goes then sell them and get more money for the Z06. I was expecting more from all the hype of these but it’s just a C8 with a add on sticker package and some body mods nothing to the engine. I’m glad I didn’t get one I’m gonna stay with my C8 and hopefully upgrade to a Z06.

I’d go with the hypersonic grey in a coupe but not the IMSA pack. My 22’ that’s being produced in 10 days is ceramic matrix grey but my z06 is either going to be Hypersonic Grey or ceramic again but they’re both going to have the strike yellow interior

I'm guessing with the convertible there's a lot of disassembling just to work on the engine? I didn't see it when the top came down.

Austin, I love your channel and I do think the C 8 is the best Chevrolet has ever offered, however, even though the non painted stripes on the Ford GT are not wrapped….the C 8 is no Ford GT. Remember the painted stripes on your GT 500? You loved those. I do think Ford has to come up with something that truly competes with the new C 8, both performance wise and price wise. The GT is just a different animal, and the GT 500 just doesn’t compete. This car is beautiful, but the ZO6 with its projected 617 HP is what will really take this car to that next level.

This is a great color combination. I've read about what's offered in this edition. This stripe is more artistic than the full length stripe I have on my light gray. Obviously this new paint color with the sparkle really goes with this car. Love the lowers on the sides with the visible carbon fiber. You just said you sold your car. I hope you got a lot of dough for it, because it is likely you will never be able to get it back. Your excellent camera captured the road stuff that entered the front end and into the cooler bodies. The other two colors of the Tridents are my preference, but there are people that love the black out look. What that gives you is "less car" because there is not much to look at in the wheel wells. The yellow contrast stitching is another thing that I do like about this version of the car. The interior is not bad. However, eventually this color might, "discolor." I'm much more enamored with leather than, "suede." Overall, the car looks awesome and I believe that is what this car is all about. Lastly, I love that you are putting out C8 content. The other cars you have are great racers and drivers. The do nothing for me like the C8 does. That gets my adrenaline going. Haven't stopped by in a while, but great video. AF

I don't understand why you didn't get the side splitters on the yellow one if that's what you'll be tracking. Mind telling me why you didn't get them on the yellow one? I also think it would look better with improved "black balance".

I saw one just like this today and I was really confused cause it was actually loud

the thing about the engine in this corvette is that although its a crossplane engine i dont like how it sounds. For me its a bit too refined for a crossplane. This sound i think fits better in the camaro and the flatplane in this corvette.

Are the GT1 seats more comfortable for daily driving than the GT2 seats assuming they are both in a 2LT? I'm considering the LT3 but I can't choose GT1 seats and if they are more comfortable that's more important to me.
