One year ago today I took delivery of my 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV. I've also owned two Gen 2 Chevy Volts and a 2019 Chevy Bolt EV. I am a big fan of the drive-ability of these electric vehicles. I can't wait until that Silverado EV hits the showroom!

I own a '23 Bolt EV. 6000 miles on the clock already. The amount of time I have saved NOT going to a "fueling" station far exceeds the time I've spent at a charging station on a trip. My car is literally as easy to maintain as my cellphone. I come home and plug it up, go inside and forget about it until I pull the cord the next morning. Always have enough range to drive wherever I would need to go 100 miles away and back, no problem. Imagine if you had to take your phone to a store to refuel it. Electric is different, but that doesn't make it worse, there are trade offs with each. I no longer worry about the price of gas, what is happening with the refineries, shortages, etc. My electricity is always on, or electricity is somewhere close

I don’t understand how people can think this vehicle wouldn’t meet an average buyer’s needs. You drove 15k miles in a year, right at the National average, and you discuss in detail how this vehicle consistently met the mark with just home/work charging which is becoming increasingly accessible. What more do people need to see to consider an EV?

@@adamp2384 You're right about EA; unfortunately, they're the stations that generally have the highest CCS charging output (when they're working). I had better luck with Chargepoint when I had a Bolt and roadtripped, but Chargepoint has lower max charging speed. I've since gotten a Tesla and I'm about to get a GV60 or Polestar 2. My roadtrips are almost exclusively on the east coast (usually Columbia, SC to NY/NJ), so charging options are plentiful when I'm not charging at home.

@@adamp2384 I would have to agree with you. Public charging while out on the road has GOT to get significantly better than it is today. Along every interstate and highway we need to have multiple DCFC options. Driving near to, or outside of my EUV's range is stressful especially when you arrive to a charging station to find 3/4 are offline, and the only working unit has a line already waiting to use it. On social media people love to poke fun at this and use it as 'proof' that EV's will never work. No, it's proof we need to invest in the infrastructure.

Got our 2023 Bolt in February. Only charge it at home. I’m 6’ 4” tall. With a 2019 F150 FX4 and 2017 Highlander XLE already in the fleet, the Bolt became the first choice for both my wife and I for almost all use under 200 miles. It’s a great car to drive, does everything very well for a small car, and has been very cheap to operate. The acceleration at all speeds is fantastic. And it blends in, it doesn’t stand out as an electric car like a Tesla.

Jeff, I can tell you that there is a world of difference in reading about and driving this car. I had seemingly thousands of questions before buying it last October which are now answered after owning and driving it daily. Like Dave B, I took one road trip, about 400miles one way, and had no issue charging. Actual ownership and driving a Bolt EUV is so much more than I imagined as I researched the car. Dave B 's review is indeed balanced and absolutely equal to my experience. Hope you decide to buy one.

I've owned my 23 Bolt EUV for almost a year now and like you, I love my vehicle, the drive, the ride, the silence and of course the fuel cost. The only thing I have any complaints about is the seating space from side to side. I am a big guy and my right leg rubs against any container I have in the cup holder. This did not happen in my previous, vehicle, a Kia Soul. I use an aftermarket cup holder positioned between the center console and the right seat. Life is good!

Great video Dave, glad your Bolt EUV is working so well for you. That price you got was amazing. A real no brainer, compared to anything comparable option. Looking forward to the new interaction, which can't come soon enough. I hope Chevy is serious about bringing it to market on expedited basis and setting up the factories infrastructure to make a large quantities. They are so much better than many many people give them credit for.

This is a such a gr8 video. Today I got some fantastic news. This morning I checked the Chevrolet website like I always do, not expecting anything new and lo and behold after 9 months GM finally accepted my order. I immediately called the sales manager at Rudolph Chevrolet. She told me the build date is scheduled for the week of October 2nd. The only downside is the UAW may go on strike. At that point then all bets are off. Thanks for all you do, Mr. Dave. 🚙 🇺🇸 🔌

Another good video, Dave. I've owned my 2019 Bolt for about a month, and I love it. Commute to work is 21 miles one way. I'm in Michigan, and no, I don't know anyone with a 100-mile commute, but even that would be possible with a charge at or near work or if your commute wasn't expressway. To be fair, I read many forums and several articles to get an understanding of reasonable expectations. There are so many silly preconceptions out there, and I heat them daily since I'm one of few at work with an EV. It's all good though. I know what I have.

Well-balanced video. I just hit 2 years with an EV and agree completely with everything you said. Especially about 1-pedal driving and not getting fatigued in traffic.

Thank you for such an honest review. Especially with the question portion. I drive 50 miles daily, round trip. Weekends I have gone anywhere from 20-120 miles. I have been maintaining primarily on a 120v outlet at my apartment. I have now used a level 2 charger five times, (next Monday will be a month). Out of those 5 times, they were free. Out of the other three, I get charged .15 a kilowatt hour. Longest was 4 hours at 50% charge, 4 dollars and some change. I love this thing more, everytime I get into it. It truly has made driving fun again. Especially with the one pedal driving, and with super cruise. I went from a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was nervous about stepping back down, into more of a sedan height, (I saw what you did there, Chevy, lol), vehicle. I don’t miss the Jeep. The gas, both the money, and time to pump it. Gone. Scheduling, waiting, paying for oil changes, the time and energy, even stress. Gone. I’m about to take a 124 mile round trip, and not even a tad worried. Both with my range, as well as my charging options. I’ll have my 1&2 with me. Additionally a level 2 within 5 miles from where I’ll be staying. Best part, I could just not charge at all! I could be fine, waiting to, when I get home. Last thing, promise! A shout out to my sales representative. Ted Noah, from Bob Johnson Chevy. I think you would like him. He’s currently leasing the Bolt EUV and really helped quiet any last nerves I had about going with an EV. His knowledge and understanding my curiosity, made the choice so much easier. I looked at, and test drove a Hyundai Kona Electric. The guy they randomly placed me with, said this following my first question concerning a spec on the vehicle: “You know, these EVs are just so new, still. I honestly don’t know much about them. People really like them though”. Ted was friendly, none pushy, very responsive, he always got back to me when I messaged him, through the ordering process. Ted was finally knowledgeable. He also really enjoys his bolt. He said he’ll stay with EVs only from now on.

Great video Dave! We have a Pacifica PHEV and even with only about 35 miles electric range, we do the vast majority of our daily driving on electric. We have solar panels so now we charge on solar! Can’t wait to see what the new Bolts are like and think it will be a great second car option for our family.

Great video Dave! Hope you enjoyed the shore, my wife and I were just in Lavallette in July (I grew up in Silver Beach right near Ortley Beach). I drive a Volvo XC40 recharge ultimate and made the trip down to the shore from Vermont and had to stop twice to charge. Added 45 minutes to my trip, but had time to eat lunch and stretch my legs. When people see you drive an EV they have all the same questions you covered today and my response is always go rent one for a few days and try it out. They aren't for everyone but I have saved a ton of money commuting 60 miles a day, and wake up in the morning with a "full" battery if I decide to charge it that night. I have Lyriq that I pre ordered in May of 2022 that was just built last week and can't wait to switch over to the Ultium system and Cadillac luxury!

I have 3 cars. I converted one of the gas ones to a Tesla Model Y. Like it a lot more than I thought I would. It’s wicked fast and extremely easy to drive in traffic. As Dave says, the wheels stay incredibly clean due to Regen. The Tesla has dog mode which is great when I take my dog out. I can jump into a store, the cabin is conditioned, a large graphic appears on the screen with the interior temperature (for people who walk by), and I can watch her on the camera, as well as the interior temperature from my phone. We live on Eastern Long Island and took it to Niagara Falls Canada. We stopped twice to charge. We planned it around a meal and a short break. I think it took us 5 minutes longer than it would have in a gas car because the meal stop was at a shopping center with a charger. The hotel in Canada had level II chargers and all the Niagara Falls parking lots had level II chargers that were next to the handicap parking. It costs us $72 in electricity at 4 Supercharger stops. Gas on that trip in our SUV would have been around $230. You do have to think a bit differently. My wife is still hesitant about it for a longer trip. If we were trying to say go further to say Florida as quickly as possible, I’d take one of our other two gas cars.

Definitely wouldn’t be hesitant on a longer trip the supercharger network is nothing like the non Tesla charging infrastructure, charging is the one thing you never have to worry about in a Tesla

Tesla road trips are a non-issue with the superchargers. If you plan well enough, you only need to spend 10-15 mins charging. Just enough time for a quick break. I charged at a Buc-ees last month and there was actually lines of ICE cars waiting approx 5 mins for a vacant gas pump, so not that much of a difference in time. I understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s fine, but I do enjoy the EV driving experience.

@@DaveBsellsChevy I thought I wouldn't like the one big center screen, but the infotainment system works so well and has so much functionality, I don't mind it. I would pay for an optional extra screen for a driver display though. I also miss not having Apple CarPlay, especially for messages and Waze.

HI Dave...long time, first time...Great update...we leased a 2020 Bolt and love it...29k miles on a 39month program...I believe adopting the Tesla network can't be downplayed...its a win/win for both gm Owners/leasees...being adopted, for a price for sure, allows easy rapid charge for GM vehicles and greater EV adoption...LET'S GO!

Absolutely love our 22 Bolt EUV. Have the same mileage as you at 15,000 miles. The EUV has been my favorite vehicle I've driven and owned, and I've had new Cadillac CTS in the past and other sporty/luxury vehicles. Still much prefer driving the EUV. It's fun to drive and efficient. Everyone that has rode in the EUV with me has been impressed by it. Even sceptics that I let drive it have said maybe they would consider one after all. Zero regrets with the purchase and will eventually replace the EUV with a new EV once the charging standards get worked out and range/charging speeds improve even more.

We had a Audi Q5. Then we bought a Chevy Volt as a second car. The Volt started getting driven all the time after we got that and in the 5 years we had both, the Audi was driven for 18K miles and the Volt 60K miles. Traded the Audi in on a Model Y towards the end of last years and we are trading the Volt in on a Bolt this week.

Very interesting, thanks for the update! I've started watching your videos a few days ago and I'm binge watching. Used to sell new Hondas a few years ago, now I work for a dealership group at the head office but I'm thinking about going back to sales for a car manufacturer that I would enjoy selling (Chevy and Cadillac, Hyundai and Genesis, something like that). I enjoy your content, and I totally agree with you about the battery warranty. On my end I just bought a Volt Premier 2017 with 15K miles on it, loving it so far. Thanks again for the video ;)

Hey Dave very informative. I am still in the market for a Bolt, but I may wait for the next gen Bolts. My drive to an from work Iwould pay $12 per month to charge it and my Equinox currently costs about $75 per month in gas. My Equinox lease is up next year so an EV will be next for sure.

Can’t agree more with the brake dust. I ceramic coated my wheels but even if I didn’t I don’t think they’d have brake dust you just don’t hit the brake enough to cause it. You’re spot on with everything, people just need to drive one, it’s the equivalent of moving from a flip phone to an iPhone in the 2000s in terms of tech.

Bolt euv owner here. Just crossed 45k miles. No issues whatsoever. I love the car and it does everything I need it to do. We have gone on multiple road trips and it’s super cost effective. We have a solar home and charge 90 percent at home.

I took my Kia EV with similar range up to a lake an hour and a half north of here and drove around. I then drove back home all on 1 charge. Free charging at my apartment. I calculated that a car at 30mpg would have spent anywhere between $15-$20 on gas for that. Therefore, I’m happy.

Great video. I'm a happy owner of a '23 Bolt euv Lt; I bought it as a commuting tool only, and was surprised when I ended up loving it so much I sold my five gas and diesel vehicles. I usually charge at home, and it costs 1/3 the amount to "fuel" the Bolt compared to putting gas in my Prius. I road trip the Bolt, and it just takes more planning and time. My gripes are the incorrect position of the brake lights, and I wish a heat pump were an option; I'd have paid some good money for that. Bolt batteries seem to to be lasting a long time; many Bolts have 250,000+ miles on the original battery.

Love your channel. Keep up the good content. I just switched to a Tesla Model 3 performance. Best decision I ever made for cars. Incredible and charging for longer trips is not that bad. Also I had 2014 Chevy Volt which was also a great car.

We picked up a new 23 Bolt EUV premier in July. So much fun to drive, it's our daily driver saving the miles on the Enclave. Have a LYRIQ ordered for a year already, don't know if it will ever arrive, then we will be a 2 car EV family and one ICE car for traveling.

Just picked one up with 25k on the chassis and only 20 miles on the new, replaced 66kw battery. After rebates, $9k and I have 8 years or 100k on the warranty. Fantastic car for that price 😁

Loving my ‘23 #Bolt. I think I’d like it to be slightly longer more from the look outside but inside I have plenty of room. Wouldn’t mind bigger tires but again with only 2k miles on the car, it’s been great

I have 33k on my 2021 base Bolt. Charge at home no problem. Free level 2 charging at local library and nearby state park. 1 trip to the Dealer for software update. I drive 50-100 miles a day, never a problem goes like heck, passing is a breeze. And not a penny for ME oil and all the good things that go with that.

Great video man. I'm also about to hit one year on my 2022 Bolt EUV next month. I'm at about 6k+ miles on it ( I drive a 1992 Oldsmobile Delta 88 on the weekend.) But man, I absolutely love it. And I agree, it can do everything a regular gas car can do, for the most part.

@@spazzman90 I won't lie, I had the same mind set as mentioned in the video on how expensive batteries are...but Dave made a point..and honestly for me, someone that doesn't drive alot...makes sense. The only issue is being in a small town, there's nothing that I know of where I can just plug in to charge over night ...yet.

Thanks for the 1 year update! I’m looking at an EUV for my wife who could also charge for free at her work about 40 miles away. She’s tech-adverse but likes the idea of minimal maintenance as her old Ford has been having various mechanical issues. Plus all our local errands. I’ve got a 500 mile range Benz for road trips but hope to get the EUV and tax credit - it’s really an awesome deal at only $33k minus $7500 and it’s a great car and handy size! 👌🏼 And I’ve never owned a Chevy so great to get folks into the brand! And screw Putin and Saudi oil. 🇺🇸

Midwesterner here... Most folks here don't drive 200 miles one way for work. I live in north central Illinois, and the longest commute that I had on a frequent basis was 50 miles one way, so no issues there. One job that I had was 400 miles between either Cape Girardeau, MO or Paducah, KY, but I was only doing that once each 28 days. Under those circumstances, gas power would still be better. We are dithering between a Bolt or a Prius PLus for our next car. I like the idea of going full electric, and it would work for us. Charging rates here are very reasonable, and the utility has a nighttime charging discount plan, and there's 220 available in the garage right now. Since retirement, we don't do as many long trips as we used to, and we still have a Toyota Matrix in good repair for that. Neither the Matrix or the Honda Fit do graet on gas in town (especially in winter) which is where most of our driving is these days, and ditching gas engine maintenance is appealing as well (I do my own). Thanks a lot for your videos! You know your subject well and you're also a good communicator. They're enjoyable and very infomative.

I live in the Midwest, I generally drive between 40-80 miles a day. But I plan on moving and at that point everything will be within a couple miles. Honestly, I’ve never considered buying an electric vehicle simply because I’m just so used to a gasoline vehicle.

I bought my EUV about the same time a year ago, premium trim with super cruise. It's a really fun car to drive around town. I agree it would not be good for road trips due to the slow charging. I have recently had quite a few computer related problems: video glitches in the rear view mirror, park brake comes on at stop lights, driver door switch needs service (radio won't turn off when I get out - annoying), did not allow putting in Drive when foot was on the brake. I hope these can get fixed and it is not a preview of future problems with this car. Great car, but I don't have time to spend at the dealership getting it fixed.

Both of my parents are from the East Coast. My dad from Pennsylvania, my mom from New Jersey. Both of them said I would hate it back there. They moved to California before I was born. I simply love it here. No snow very little rain, pretty much mild climate except for the summers when it gets hot. I have an EV, a 2023 Genesis GV60 Performance. It’s a fabulous car. I also have a 2022 Silverado RST refresh and a 2016 Z06 Coupe. I just bought a beater car, a 2010 Fusion Sport with 273,000 miles. It runs perfect. If it were in the east coast it would have already been retired years ago.

The Bolt EUV is perfect for my wife who drives about 45 miles round trip to and from work each day. We have a level two charger at home, a discount from the power company for off peak hours charging. With nothing but charging at home, she drives this vehicle for less than 20 dollars per week, including all the extra non work running around she does. The EV argument is one of perspective. Forget the poltical polarization noise. They are not for everyone - yet. But as you say there are tons of people out there they would be appropriate for. My thought is - let people become educated and informed on them and over time as the technology continues to improve let folks decide for themselves if it fits their lifestyle.

Dave: Great video. I have a 2022 Bolt EUV, and absolutely love it. However, GM is on record as not offering Apple Car Play (going forward) on their EV automobiles. I notice you don’t have an iPhone, so this may not be an issue. However, so long as other manufacturers continue offering Car Play (while GM won’t offer Car Play support), I simply cannot imagine even considering a future GM EV. Interestingly, my entire extended family feels the same as I do. Therefore, I believe this will result in lost sales opportunities for GM (and you!) going forward.

I got one because It's a great starter vehicle, for my son, when he turns 15, in two weeks! However, I'm nervous about that snow and ice we get in Wisconsin every year. I think I'll get a second set of rims with "Severe Snow Service Rated" tires and loose a little range for the sake of safety.

As a Tesla owner I want to appreciate the bolt it is a nice no frills electric car that is affordable, however Chevy really needs to up their game on the technology front, super cruise has been around for ages and only works on a limited number of highways and roads (200,000 miles sounds like a lot but really isn’t) people will crave more technology and GM needs to keep up and offer it because I think a lot more Tesla owners might take a second look elsewhere if the technology was up to par and was advancing more quickly

Dave you do supply a lot of good information. You are correct most EV's are good everyday cars. Installing the level Two Charger at home is very helpful. What do you think the cost to installing a charger at home would cost? Enjoyed the video.

I love my 2021 bolt… I get a ton of compliments on it, especially the color. 😅 I only have a little over 10,000. I’ve owned it since 2021. I just don’t drive anywhere. 😂

I’ve had my Bolt EUV for over a year now and love everything about it except the ride. Not sure how Chevy managed it, but the car rattles over the sharp bumps and wallows over the humps in the road. I’ve even bottomed out on a few speed bumps, which I wasn’t expecting given the ground clearance. Other than that it’s a great vehicle, and I couldn’t imagine choosing the similarly priced and sized gas Chevy Trax or Trailblazer with their 3 cylinder engines

Just bought a 2023 Bolt EUV in Jan 2024. It's too bad this car has been discontinued because it is GREAT! Coming from a manual transmission, one-pedal driving is that extra level of engagement that I enjoy.

We are in the process of purchasing a used 2020 Bolt EV, super pumped. Going to be our second car for all around town driving. It will work well with our already installed solar panels!

Im a Toyota hybrid guy, but I love the warranty and the price for this vehicle. When it’s time to get a new car this is the car I have my eye on. Really happy with what I’m seeing with Chevy on this

6 months 3000 miles on my 23 Bolt. Love the car. My EV experience downside is getting stuck behind slow laggy ICE vehicles in traffic.

Our experiences exactly after 8 months of ownership of our 2023 EUV. Love how practical our car is, and that it is such a comfortable and fun car to drive. I describe it best when I tell people that it's like flying a magic carpet down the road. It just glides up to speed with zero effort and noise - something you just have to experience to appreciate. We also have a Trail Boss 6.2L Silverado and a Miata, but the Bolt is the car we use day in and day out for these reasons.

Hey Dave, great video, I was going to buy the Bolt, I think it is a great car. I didn't because I wanted a better road tripping car. I ended up buy a Tesla model 3 RWD, the same as your friend. (I watched the video) The Tesla is my first EV, it is a great car and a great car to road trip. I took my family on a road trip from my home in Wayne NJ to Asheville NC and back with no issues at all. It did take a little longer, but the stops I made to use the Tesla Super Charger network were pretty much stops I would have made for bathroom, stretch our legs and get a snack, anyway. Before we got back to the car, the app on my phone alerted me that the car had enough power to reach the next charging station on the route. I am glad that GM is going to keep the Bolt alive and bring in the other EV's. I am going to keep the Tesla for now, but when Chevy comes out with the Equinox EV, I may stop in and say hi. I think EV's are great cars, with a few things that people have adjust to.

I've put 60,000 miles in a year and a half on my 22 EUV. In that time I have never been stranded due to lack of charging. Even with all my driving, 95% is done at home. I did have some frustration over the thanksgiving holiday finding a free charger traveling on I5 to Southern California, but that will be resolved with the addition of the Tesla network.

Literally the same guy that put the most miles on a Gen 1 Volt just put nearly 93k miles on his 2022 Bolt EUV in 1 year! He said maintenance has been windshield wiper fluid and tire rotations.

Good review, agree with most of this, except for maybe how most people wouldn't road trip with this car. Would it be optimal? No, probably not. But, there's plenty of videos here on YT that demonstrate the Bolt is a very road trip-worthy car.

quick tip on the brakes, especially once the discs start to get some rust on them. You mentioned how there isnt much brake dust. Every month or so, especially in winter, put the car in neutral going down a hill or wherever, and sit down on the brakes pretty hard to clear them off. You use the brakes so little, its incredibly easy for corrosion to build up. Ive never worn down my Chevy volt brake pads in over 10 years of owning it, but I had to replace the rear discs because they rusted so bad. Using the brakes once and a while should keep them pretty flat and clean if you plan on owning it a long time which you said you were.

Also am I more likely to actually get one if I order an EUV vs EV, Ive been hearing Chevy prioritizes the EUV orders, but not sure how much truth to that..

I wish I could have gotten my 2023 EUV Premier for the same price you paid. One thing most people don't realize unless they've actually driven one is the instant acceleration you feel when depressing the accelerator of an EV. Just riding in one isn't enough to appreciate the difference. I've ridden in an Aston Martin that had tremendous acceleration for a long distance before the driver, my BIL, backed off. I would much rather have the experience of driving a car with instant acceleration, rather than an ICE car with the delay inherent in pressing down on the pedal.

Battery warranty on new Toyota batteries is 10 year or 150k miles.........some people are very scared and stubborn when it comes to new innovations. Believe it or not there are still people that would rather ride a horse than an automoblie. to each his own.

Way to go. Can't get this price in Canada. Price is $50K plus taxes in Canada. You can get Hyundai Ioniq 5 for a little more with better features. This is with an older technology battery, when it's time to replace the battery, do you get the Ultium technology battery? GM should clarify this.

Ceramic coated wheels is a great idea! We are currently averaging 4.1 over the last 18,433 miles on our 2019 Bolt which we bought in Feb. 2021. Battery was replaced in Dec. 2021 (new warranty!) It gets driven around 7k miles a year and has been a very good car for us. I just hope they keep making these "smaller" EVs years from now when we are ready to get a new one

I’ve had my 22’ EUV over a year now with 24k miles on it. It’s a great car for what it is. Love the instant torque and one pedal driving. Except during the winter when range dropped to 198-200 miles at 100% charge. I knew that the cold would affect range but was still surprised by how much here in Northern California. Other than that it’s a good car. Once you go EV you can’t go back.

@@aqn619 it was about $35k. Then the next month they dropped the price by $5,800. I read and was told buyers of the 22’ would get a check for the difference. It took one year to receive my check for $5,800.

@@marlon4592 I just learned that in order to qualify for the rebate you must agree to waive your rights to sue GM even if your battery catches on fire. I may have to pass on that one.

there is one issue that I have with the Bolt. The handling is not great. It does have power and speed. However, I have spoken to other owners who say the stability leaves something to be desired. The proportions were not perfected. You can't corner sharp turns at speed without losing grip.

Thank you, excellent video. I really liked EVs. I have a 2015 Fiat 500e. It's great for around town, but the battery has really degraded over the last few years. It only has 45,000 on it. My concern with EVs is that fast charging constantly will deplete the battery much faster over time. Also I've read that keeping the battery charged to no more than 80% and no less than 20% will keep the battery from depleting over time. What is your thought on this. I appreciate your video. Thank you.
