This episode is a two-for-one, reviewing Joe's Land Rover Defender 110 (P400) which is finally free of its various early-production gremlins and, a comparison to Nick's 2-Door Bronco reviewed in the previous episode. Yes they're both highly capable SUVs, yes they're both revivals of off-road icons of the 1960s, and yes they're both green. But is there more to it than that?

I was 100% cross shopping these two. If the Defender was $10K less I would have went for it, but at over $20k more than the Bronco, I had to go for the Bronco.

My defender was 61 after all the offroad add ons, locking diffs, air suspension etc. My buddies bronco - same cost. Both are awesome :)

@@paulhoppe4596 Stop postin nonsense. Defender with compatible to Bronco options significantly more expensive
@paulhoppe4596
@paulhoppe4596 6 месяцев назад
@zrvpvo8789 sure....I mean I would have no way of knowing what I paid and what my friend paid. No need to get defensive. I love both vehicles. Capabilities compared (break over/approach/departure angles, clearances, lockers) the price was literally the same. The rest gets into what you value more/opinion territory - i.e. fit and finish, road noise, infotainment, cabins etc. You can get a bronco on 35" tires easier and a quality lift is about half the cost installed. But to your point, I did not post nonsense. At the time I was shopping the prices were the same for the builds I was looking at. Base defender with only offroad options and a sasquatch bronco. Any slight offroad gain in the bronco was offset by the on road gains in the defender for me.

@@paulhoppe4596 I guess I also would have no way of knowing about pricing after shopping for a year while test driving at least a dozen of each in both 2 and 4 dr. configuration and actually ordering x2 2023 Bronco Badlands. It makes me laugh when Defender owners claim that Defender hardly more expensive than Bronco like the prices are classified. 2023 Defender 110SE base price - $69300 Off-road Pack - $1550 Advanced Off-Road Pack -$750 Air Suspension Pack - $1600 Exposed Rear Recovery Eyes - $250 2023 Bronco Badlands Luxury Package, soft top, no Sasquatch - $61650. Includes Front Locker, Stabilizer Disconnect, Trail Turn Assist , 33 inch tires - things which Land Rover don’t even offer (how is compared capability’s by the way?) It is also hardly classified that every Defender option/accessory (like rubber mats) significantly more expensive. Neither it’s classified it is way more expensive to maintain. Should I mention that Land Rover dealers wanted $7.5-10K to place an order while Ford dealers ordered Broncos with ZERO markup? And I’m getting defensive? That said, I also swapped Rubicon for Bronco for on-road gains and as I mentioned earlier seriously considered Defender. Obviously, what good for me may not be good for you and vise versa. D110 the way I like it priced almost $80K. I don’t see the point in basic Defender. Above all, I did not like the way it drives at high speed.

I car shopped these 2. The Bronco feels like a big, somewhat substantial , lumbering American truck. Many cheap plastics inside, and a bouncy kind of pogo stick ride. It felt ok, but it had a quality of a Tonka Truck where all the pieces put together felt like, well, a lot of pieces put together but none of them necessarily worked together to make a complete package. The Land Rover Defender. I loved the look, the feel, the ride, the quality of interior components. I loved the way everything worked seamlessly together and made me feel very happy. I felt like I wanted to sleep in it for a weekend to make my final decision. Ok, to be honest. I've had 3 Land Rover products. A new 98 Defender, a new 02 Defender, and a 2014 Range Rover Evoque. All were relatively terrible in their reliability. The Evoque was awful. However, to this day, after a total of over 40 new vehicles in my life, even the Evoque made me excited to be in it every single time I had to drive it. Accept when it was leaving my stranded which it kind of did 2 times. Here I am again. Wanting a Land Rover Defender. I really really want one and in all likelihood I'll have one within the next couple of weeks. Am I concerned about the reliability ?. YES, very much so. Once I start paying the loan payment, I'll be highly pissed off if I get into a position like you did and I don't have it for a month. Hopefully it will be great. Land Rover ownership is like having a supermodel for a wife. Gorgeous to look at, lovely to make love to, just amazing to have her on your arm for all to see, BUT, she's unreliable, doesn't cook, complains about everything, always depressed, and just keeps letting you down. However once you dump her, you keep thinking about her and wishing she was back. I think that's a fair analogy. Land Rover definitely put something hypnotic in their vehicles and you keep coming back for more. LR, here I come again for another beating.

My Defender went back at the end of the lease last month, and it was a great car once the bugs were all sorted, I'll miss it. But, tbh I miss my old 2014 RR Sport more, and can't say I love to new RR Sport. I cannot believe the Evoque stranded you TWICE!

@@TheCarCrush First at a dermatology appointment that I waited 5 months for. You know how hard it is to get into a dermatologist. I got there early, parked, and pushed the ignition button to turn off the car. Nope, it wouldn't turn off. Simply stayed running. It was a bad area, so I couldn't just leave it running. I drove to the dealer on a Friday at 4pm. They closed at 5. Turned out to be a software glitch in the transmission. Second, Suddenly after accelerating from a light wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. Had to be towed to the dealer on a Saturday. My 02 Defender was worse but that's 21 years ago. I'm still going to get the Defender. Just can't stop myself.

Lol yeah I know how hard it is to get into the dermatologist! Software does seem to be the big issue with Land Rover/Range Rover these days.

I drove both dozen of times. While Bronco looks larger, it’s actually shorter and narrower in both 2 and 4 dr. configurations. Yet, I did not find Defender roomier. There are Bronco with leather seats and Defenders without leather seats. Not to mention Broncos with marine grade vinyl seats. Not sure why would you worry less leaving Bronco in the parking lot? It’s hardly any more dent/scratch resistant than Defender. These cars cannot be compared since they completely different structurally. Neither they can be compared for their heritage. While Bronco is heavily modernised 4x4 from 60’s, the only thing Defender shares with it’s 70 year old history - name. And it does feel like you driving top heavy, unstable ‘house’.

FYI, not totally uncommon for a company that has your leased car to pony up the cash. Kia did it for my moms Kia Niro EV when they were working on it for a month or waiting for parts...It should be expected in fact.

Definitely the defender feels roomy with a comfy ride. The bronco feels cramped for how wide it is and drives like a truck, which it is. I as well feel weird about them getting compared often as they are both great but totally different vehicles. Bronco is more of a purpose built truck while the Defender is a great all around SUV. I'm lucky enough to own a defender which ive now modified to have 35" tires and a close buddy of mine has a Badlands Bronco. We go offroading together doing black diamond trails here in SoCal. So I've been able to compare both pretty well.

@@Salsgarageadventuresthe bronco is just as much of an SUV as the land rover is lol. it’s not marketed as a truck for a reason. if anything it handles rough terrains smoother than the land rover and is almost as smooth if not as smooth on the general road

I was looking at both Bronco and Defender to replace Rubicon to stop constantly correcting steering on the freeway. I drove literally at least a dozen each in 2 and 4 dr. configuration, and did NOT find Defender roomier than Bronco. Not sure what Defender owners mean by ‘comfy’? It’s definitely quieter due to lack of removable top. But to me it feels unstable at higher speed, which is odd considering rigid body and independent suspension. I also found sunroof useless for the driver and front row passenger. To me, it’s the Defender which feels like a truck - not Bronco.

Why talking for almost half of the video that these cars aren't to compare when you do end up "comparing" them (where you should just say what's different) instead of just talking forever about that these 2 cars shouldn't be compared. Many people do consider 1 or another out of these 2 actually
