Just got this same exact color ST yesterday. Fully loaded. Had a 2017 Camaro 2SS with the same color and definitely don’t regard trading the Camaro in. Space is nice, it looks nice, just enough HP, and has a lot of good features. Love it

From someone who previously had a 2021 Durango r/t, a 2021 JCG limited 5.7 hemi, and currently a 2021 JGC L… comparably this supersedes every single one of them. My 2021 JGC was just totaled so I picked up the 2022 ST and I have zero regrets. This explorer is a sleeper ( super responsive and fast ) and is very underrated. The interior is very high quality (compared to my dodge) and the seating is very comfortable. I thought the infotainment would be awkward, but I actually really like it as it’s user friendly. Coming from a FCA customer, Ford really impressed me with this. If you’re on the fence, goto your local ford dealer and test drive one. It is one of the funnest cars I’ve ever driven by far. Like others said, the only con I have is the plastic trim on the exterior of the car.. kinda makes it look cheap. Easy to over look though since it’s such a great ride :)

I really really wanted a 2021 Ford Explorer ST but got a 2021 highlander XSE Toyotas “sporty” highlander although my highlander is nice those ST are very very quick like unbelievably quick seen one a couple months ago take off and it just pulled and kept on going. The ST was barely out of my budget for a new car 10k more than my highlander didn’t want to pay 1500 bucks a month for a st so 800 bucks it is for the highlander. But when I pay my highlander off I am and most definitely getting a new ST

I have this exact ST, color, options etc. Its not perfect but what is? Aside of that this is the most rewarding Family vehicle we have ever owned! My wife loves it as well as I. The ST is a beast! For a car enthusiast it doesn’t get much better hauling the Family around. It gives a luxury feel while also giving you a muscle car feel as strange as that may seem. From a dig, highway passing and in the curves, braking it does it all very well all while picking up groceries. The ST needs High octane fuel 93 where I live to make advertised hp and you can feel the difference if you cheap out. As far as the interior its not overly luxurious looking but it does give you that bad ass muscular feel. My only gripe is I wish my 2020 had red stitching on the seat ST logo. I have had it for 18k miles and a year and a half and every time I get in it it puts a smile on my face!!

@@jmasoncars4452 that may be true. But ones a luxury brand and the other isn’t. And the ST is a significantly more powerful engine compared to the mdx. When the type s mdx comes out, it’s going to be $10-$15k more than the ST. It better have a nice interior.
@jmasoncars4452

@@brandonr4427 An acura mdx a spec is 58k. With the explorer also being 58k it brings it to a point where people are expecting a quality interior even if it's not a luxury brand. I personally love the explorer ST. It's still on my possible buy list, I just understand where people are coming from in the comments. Also the mdx while substantially down on power hits 60 in 5.7 seconds according to motor trend. The explorer does it in 5.2. And they both handle similar if the mdx is equipped with sh-awd. I honestly think Ford will overhaul the interior for the refresh.
@brandonr4427
@brandonr4427 2 года назад
@@jmasoncars4452 fair enough. I still think people like to harp on it just because it’s a ford. When really it’s on par with equivalent cars in its class. I really like the interior so no concerns for me. I briefly considered the mdx a spec. But at the end of the day, the explorer looks better inside and out to me. Plus better after market available. Mdx, I feel like an old man. Explorer ST, fits my age more. But no doubt the mdx is a nice pick.

@@brandonr4427 100% agree that people will go out of their way to pick on it because it's a Ford. Also for me the interior wouldn't be a deal breaker either because it fits what I'm looking for. But I can see it being a deal breaker for some. Did you get the rwd or the awd? I'm curious if the rwd feels any faster with less weight and less drivetrain. Waiting for test data. The Explorer is a fantastic SUV. The aggressive ST adds 400 horsepower for performance and a load of technology options with a top line interior. Your tester is an nicely equipped copy with the Iconic Gray paint, performance red brake Calibers and black 20" rims with optional 21 rims. After recently viewing the 2023 version for China that has a full infotainment screen running across the dash front ending on the passenger side. Really hoping that becomes available in the US models. Performance wise, this and the Durango R/T and 392 are it in this class. Ford carved out a niche with the ST(nee Sport). I also like the comfort of the Explorer. Everything look nice, except for the weird and awkward 10" screen orientation that just don't make any sense and defeats the whole purpose of a 10" screen. Had they made it rotate landscape to make full use of the whole 10" screen and hide it when not in use would be a game changer. In terms of cargo space, it's rather small for an suv. I hate cramped space that just feels like claustrophobic when you sit. 204" should've been the ideal length for a proper real family suv for comfort.

Hello gentlemen. Good review video for the Ford Explorer in the ST trim. That's nice there's a performance model Explorer now. This will go up against the Dodge Durango SRT, but not the Durango SRT Hellcat. The Durango SRT will kill it coming in at 475 horsepower while the Durango SRT Hellcat will wipe it off the face of the earth coming in at 710 horsepower. The ST badging along with the gloss black rims and red brake calipers looks nice. The interior has nice features as well. As for the air ball and slam dunk there are more to add a piece for each. Another slam dunk would be for storage in the armrest console area and the cargo area. Another air ball would be for the infotainment screen. It's a nice size, but Ford did poor execution placing it on the dashboard. It looks like it was a second thought. The overall appearance of it regardless of trim level makes it look like it was tacked on via thumb tack, glue or duck tape. It should've been more integrated to the dashboard like most of the competitors to give it a much sleeker clean look. Maybe during a mid-cycle refresh model year they might change the appearance of that if they receive a lot of criticism about it. So, depending on the scenario the appearance change for the infotainment screen could happen during a mid-cycle refresh model year or if not that they will change it for the next generation Explorer. Let's see what happens when the time comes.

Dodge Durango SRT is .7 seconds faster yet costs like 10-15k more than the ST’s 57k MSRP. So while the SRT is faster, it doesn’t justify the sticker. Hellcat isn’t competitor to this and it will be disc soon anyway. Yea, the iPad stuck on the dash takes some getting used to- but the tech in this car is light years ahead of the SRT. Durango platform is dated and needs a refresh- although it has aged well over its decade + run.
@jefferybaxter1225
@jefferybaxter1225 2 года назад
@@Kellettcj71 Just like how a new generation 5th generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L came out back in the summer and very very soon a new generation two row version will get released, a new generation Dodge Durango is in the works. In addition to producing better performance numbers another reason the current Durango SRT cost a little more than the Explorer ST is due to the fact that more premium materials are found inside the vehicle. Not only that the towing capacity for the Dodge Durango SRT is impressive. The towing capacity for the Dodge Durango is 8,700 pounds while for the Ford Explorer ST it has a range only from 5,300 pounds to 5,600 pounds. That's a big difference right there.

Couple of things... The R/T and ST are both priced very similar starting and fully loaded.... You don't compare an SRT with an RT, do you? Durango's have higher towing which is great! If you actually tow more than a boat... ST gets better gas mileage, much faster vs the RT. It's also a tune away from blowing the doors off the SRT. Better technology, nice looking interior but not better finish. I'll give points to the RT in better UI, towing and fit and finish but everything else, it's below. Did I mention the ST is faster and much better MPG?

I’ve got the 2020 Blue ST with Black package and wheels: oh my that was interesting to drive in NY the summer of love and riots. Literally had multiple incidents from fancy finger salute, coffee (we think it was coffee) thrown, and a group hanging out a low rider at a stop sign in Yonkers explaining how cops should be killed. Fun times. All said we love the vehicle and it is amazing on road trips with the dogs having tons of room in the back.
