very sweet setup ive been wanting to learn more about hotshotting ive thought about getting into i just never knew if it was any better then class A driving
By class “A” do you mean class “8” semi. I have a class A CDL for my setup as I am registered to 44k lbs. There is a lot more freight available to semis over hotshot maybe 10 to 1 or greater.
I have a 22 350 dually with 4.10 rear end. If you are getting a very hard downshift in tow haul from 3-2 or 2-1 take it in and tell them you are having a hard down shift in tow haul specifically. There is a TSB to reprogram the transmission control module, made my truck shift so much better. TSB came out in June or July of 22 but most don’t know about it because they just know “oh it’s a hard shift it’s learning” you have to specifically tell them it’s in tow haul mode. Also watch for a oil leak showing up right above the oil filter where the engine meets the trans. 33k and mine is in for what they are pretty sure is upper oil pan leaking and I don’t have any excessive crank case pressure at all. I checked that already but watched the shop foreman literally have to pull my oil cap off. Hopefully hear what they found today or tomorrow.
The monster ramps are plenty strong. I hauled dozers with My 40 ft pj and an f550. They're kinda heavy but not too bad and when laid down keeps your deck flat to 40ft. I had air ride and electric over hydraulic disc brakes. Pj makes a great trailer. Nice setup!
Mr. Roan can you do a video for a start up cost (HOTSHOT)from getting your Authority, MC, Equipments( Tarps, Chains, Electronics etc..) Thank you very much Mr. Roan. I truly love your F450 set-up inside and outside. And also how much funds do you have to have until your able to start making money in Hotshot industry ? GBU and keep it up great job.
Have you shot a video of your daily booking? How and where you get the loads and the price of the loads? I would love to see the ins and outs of how this works and what the net and gross is, as well as the cost of fuel etc....
That’s a fantastic setup! Even better than my own. I drive hotshot, but decided to train the wife and team in a semi. I’ve got a BigTex 2022 22GN 35+5 with mega ramps. Vehicles are no problem for the ramps. I’m curious about whether they would hold up to heavy equipment. Any opinions?
A 22GN seems light for regular heavy equipment hauling. I have hauled 20k dozers and dump trucks with my setup and it is made for it, but my next trailer will be a 40k GVWR Diamond C.
Great setup. We have a 2020 F-450 Chassis Cab with a 5th wheel and shocker hitch. We have a 40' 30k Gatormade with air ride and a hydratail ramp. I wish we had the spread axle like you do. The reserve fuel tank is a great addition! Probably our single biggest gripe is how small the Ford fuel tank is.. We've got about 135k on our truck (bought it at 70k) and have had some issues... Stuff like 4WD drive issues, Def Tank heater going bad, transmission shifting issue, etc. Not gonna lie, kind of annoyed at the nickle and diming this truck is doing to us, but overall I think we'd have more issues with other trucks. We're actually thinking about going to a 2008 - 2010 Freightliner M2 Sportchassis in the near future. We were looking for a '21 or '22 F-450, but not really available. Amazed that you were able to find one.
@@roantransportllc same. two local dealerships I work with tell me they are getting anywhere from 15-25 for the year. Compared this to the 200-250 they normally are allocated, and it's become apparent there's no end in sight for Ford changing course. It's likely done so that they can command higher prices.
nice vid, i been using the same fridge freezer for the past 2 years but i keep it in the back of the truck, its been a great product. I'm now installing a house mini split in the truck and have 600 amp hours of lithium to run it and a 40 amp dc to dc charger to charge the batts up when the truck is running. i also have a genni for if I'm siting more then a day. what's you average mpg with that truck under load. I'm doing my cdl this year or next and am thinking about going f450. my set up is identical to yours but I'm running fords 7.3 gas engine with 373 gearing doing non cdl
Nice video. I’m getting geared up for rv hauling and wishing that Ford would allow either to spec the rear diff a different ratio than the only choice which is 4:33 OR allow you to option the F-450 front axle on the F-350. I want that axle for the turning radius but don’t want those rear end gears. F-350 gives you 2 maybe 3 choices in rear end gear ratios. Some say with the new 10 speed transmission makes the rear end gear ratio moot, but I just can’t see that, 4:33 are STOUT gears….not necessary for towing brand new EMPTY rv’s….3:73 would be just fine. Thoughts?
@@roantransportllc I pull a Grand Design Solidude with my 2022 F450 Limited. Gearing is ok. I would of chose the 4:10 gearing if given the choice. 4:30s are overkill for 14,000 lb pound trailer lol
Great video, glad to hear the Ford makes a good truck, looking at Ford when I replaced my Duramax. I have a 2008 Duramax, I put a 60-gallon auxiliary fuel tank in my box. It is gravity fed and tends to be slow, what fuel pump and solenoid did you install in yours? I am looking at installing a pump and solenoid.

Can someone help me please ! - I have questions ?? - I want to get into this 1 - how do I get into this ? 2- what Pick up ? 3 - what licenses or clearance do i need to start doing this ? 4- yes money is kind of an issue ? 5- how much can you expect to make ( Starting ) roughly / week ? 6- is it worth it ? ( veterans in the game please comment ) ? 7- if you could go back in time what you wish you knew going into it ?
1. Search out carriers that will lease-on an owner operator or get you own authority. 2. Ford F350 or Ram 3500 3. Class A CDL if you want to haul over 26k lbs gcvwr, or a regular drivers license if you go non-CDL meaning under 26k gcvwr. 4.? 5. Hard to say many variables affect this but between $2000 to 10,000 a week. 6. 2023 would not be the year I payed out a bunch of cash or incurred heavy debt. 7. I wish I would have started with my CDL and own authority.

Almost no one uses CB anymore. I can drive all day with CB on and only talk I hear is guys running together. This is why you have pileups on the interstates, because no one can get info out when people aren’t listening.
Good video the newer dodge trucks are junk just look on RU-vid regarding anybody using them for hot shot or towing RV’s the motors and transmissions are coming apart plus the customer service through dodge has a adversarial tone when dealing with them
For the garmin gps can I use it for non cdl or hotshot because near future I want to be on the road a lot because for my future car collection I’m planning for long road trips to car meets and such And I want to do it Legal way so later on I don’t have to deal with dot officers and yes this will not for hire it just for my private car collection, I also don’t want to end up wrong spots with a long car trailer so ya.
I use the Garmin - dezl OTR700 and it has options for both auto and truck routes. In the truck setting you can customize your vehicle length, height and weight to avoid low bridges and other potential hazards. In the auto setting it works as a regular gps for navigation.
No one has said anything so far. The FMCSA regulations allow for window mounted devices as long as they are within 6” of the top of the windshield and do not obstruct the drivers view. www.ecfr.gov/current/title-49/subtitle-B/chapter-III/subchapter-B/part-393/subpart-D/section-393.60#p-393.60(e)(1)
Do you have any fault codes on the dash after removing the rear bench and passenger seat? I have the same truck but when I unplug the sensors the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree lol
Both the single rear wheel (SRW) or dually (DRW) will work for non-CDL. A SRW will give you a slightly higher payload due to it being lighter than the DRW. If I had to do it all over again I would have gotten the DRW to start out with.
No, the generator stays in the bed with the exhaust blowing out the back. The CO2 detector makes sure that fumes from the generator or other sources don’t collect in the cab.
I added the S&S disaster prevention kit to my truck, and use Hotshot Secret EDT fuel additives to help minimize a CP4 failure. www.thoroughbreddiesel.com/cp4-67f-bp-g21/

Nice set up would never hate on that but you bought very expensive stuff that little cooler I looked it up it’s $1000 by itself and then the generator I know you said you bought that after you got up and running so it’s not like you were rich to begin with But you have way too much crap on that truck just to go pick up small hotshot loads I’m a semi truck driver and I don’t even have half of that crap and I’ve been doing it for 15 years, so are you guys just like to waste money on useless gadgets in the name of comfort or convenience but it’s just more crap to maintain and fix and worry about in the long run
