Do not open carry or conceal your firearms Walmart says that having a gun in Walmart is OK but they lie soon as they find out you have a firearm they will call the police and have you arrested for having a gun in Walmart. I know this for a fact because I seen it way too many times in the state of Arkansas. I worked at a Walmart in Springdale Arkansas, that they had numerous people arrested for having a concealed weapon.

If they don't have no firearm signs posted at all entry points and first ask you to leave when they find you have one, I don' see what grounds the police would have to arrest you.

can you backpack with an ar or handgun in arkansas national forests? what would be the etiquette aside from gun safety?

There are two different entities at play here, so there are [at least] two different sets of laws and regulations. National Forests fall under the management of the US National Forest Service, a part of the US Dept of Agriculture, part of the federal government. National Parks are managed by the US National Park Service, a bureau of the US Dept of the Interior, also part of the federal government. Hence, US National Forest and National Parks firearms laws are dictated by the federal government, not the state where they reside. Whether they coincide with the state will vary with each individual state. It's very, very muddled and I'm sorry if this didn't help. Your best sources are the places you plan to visit, and the state in which it's located. It would be a good idea to contact the jurisdiction [county or precinct] where it's located as well. In Arkansas, open carry and concealed carry are legal without a license. Anyone over 18 years old who can legally possess a firearm can legally conceal carry a handgun without a license.

@@FistieSplinters well, there's the enhanced concealed license that they talked about that allows you to carry concealed in places where you're normally not allowed to carry concealed in such as a school or a hospital. It also helps if you have a concealed carry license so that if you go to another state that does require you to have a concealed carry license you already have one because generally most states especially the ones in surrounding areas will allow you to conceal carry if you are already have your permit even if it is not from that state

@@InevitableD34th First, let me say thank you. I've recently moved from another southern state to Arkansas. It's been a little confusing because some sources claim you can conceal carry and other sources say you must have a permit. I see two CCP's mentioned. One is a regular CCP and the other is the Enhanced CCP, which is what you are talking about. The ECCP, which allows you to carry in places where otherwise you cannot, but that still leaves the regular CCP. Also, what constitutes a "journey"?

Carrying in a vehicle without a permit is legal for anyone who can legally possess a firearm. Arkansas prohibits any person from carrying a handgun in a vehicle only if they have a purpose to attempt to unlawfully employ the handgun against a person.. Ark. Code Ann. § 5-73-120(a)

Arkansas generally allows loaded firearms to be carried in a vehicle by a person who is not otherwise prohibited from possessing firearms, has no unlawful intent, and is not in a prohibited place. Ark. Code Ann. §§ 5-73-101(10), (12), 5-73-120(a), (c)(1), (c)(4).

@@yepitsamess...6223 We don't suggest bc of the safety factor mostly. BUT there is no law against it in AR. There are however, areas where you cannot carry like school zones, so be cognizant as to where you are.

So wait a minute,,,,, you cannot carry other concealed weapons other than a firearm ????? That is absolutely ridiculous. Well that has to change ! Just about anything can be considered a weapon.
