Q: Does Pennsylvania recognize constitutional carry? basically, does Pennsylvania allow you to carry a gun without a permit?
A: No, unfortunately, constitutional carry is illegal in Pennsylvania.
Q: Does Pennsylvania allow open carry of guns?
A: Any person 18 years or older who is legally permitted to carry a firearm may open carry. An LCF (for residents) or a license or permit from a reciprocating state (for nonresidents) is required to open carry or carry in a vehicle in Philadelphia.
Q: Is concealed carry legal in Pennsylvania?
A: Pennsylvania residents in possession of their LCF may CC in the state, as can nonresidents with a license or permit from a reciprocating state. This out-of-state qualification also authorizes nonresidents to seek their Pennsylvania LCF while in the state.

As a Pennsylvanian that's lived in multiple counties for more than 50 years, I can tell you that, even though the state is a "shall issue" state, the difficulty obtaining a permit varies greatly between counties. Montgomery County was incredibly challenging, which shouldn't come as much surprise, as the Montgomery County Sheriff is very publicly anti-2A. Fortunately, I now live in the most pro-2A county of the state.

Despite having a MD and Utah CCW permit, the local sheriff denied my PA permit because of an expunged conviction. So I have to drive to PA and have a hearing before the PA Attorney General to get the decision overturned.

Please don't open carry (this is coming from an NRA CCW instructor). The whole point of having a firearm for protection is for no one to know that you have it. You have the element of surprise. Open carry permits two or more individuals to attack you from different angles and disarm you.

With the exception of Philadelphia, open carry without a permit is legal , however in order to carry either open or concealed in a vehicle you need a license to carry.

Yes you can concealed carry with a permit in bars that serve alcohol but it specifically states in the PA firearms handbook that if you carry in a bar you must be seated at a table and be at the establishment to eat. You cannot legally carry and be seated at a bar for the sole purpose of being there only to drink.

so here in ohio we no longer need a carry permit, but seeing as how Ive had one for about 5 years i know there are advantages to keeping it valid and I will. now soon my brother will be moving from fla to pa and if i go to visit him and wanna take my guns, which are just a few which are a couple 22 lr revolvers, a 9mm pistol, and a pump 20 gauge shotgun, would I be safe locking the guns and ammo in the trunk and crossing state lines?

According to the Constitution of the United States and not the Divided States, you are allowed to carry a weapon for your protection, why, because there are a lot of bad people out there. and most of them are slick talking politicians. I have driven all across the US with a gun in my vehicle, when an officer asked me if I had a weapon, I told him yes,, when he said I will have to take it, I asked why, he said it is illegal in this state, I told him I just passed your welcome sign, and there was no warning on your sign about a weapon or what I should do with it while driving through your state also this is the United States, and the 2nd Amendment says I can carry one for my protection. Did your state turn to Communism when they made that rule. He said listen just hand me the gun, I told him you are breaking an Amendment of the Constitution that says shall not be infringed, you force me to turn over my protection, I will want you badge number, name, etc. For when I come back with my lawyers, your state is going to have to pay BIG TIME. No state if they belong to the United States should be capable of taking your gun unless you broke the law with it. As my Chinese Instructor in hand to hand combat said, why even a tooth pick can be a killing weapon, so don't always depend on your weapon, if disarmed look around. Take the belt off your pants.

Those two statements contradict each other. If you misspoke with the first answer and meant to say you can’t conceal carry without a permit it makes sense

Hey Jonny! I think we're getting confused. The first question, "does PA allow you to carry a gun without a permit", alludes to concealed carry permits. All gun owners with their LCF are indeed allowed to also open carry with the same permit.

this is something I was confused about, like if you go to pa right, for recreation, just traveling there, If you do not have a license to cc, but it is legally your tool an you do not have any restrictions, If you have said hand tool unloaded in a lock box, and in a trunk, (so it isn't within reach) with ammunition separate, in a separate box, locked, is it legal? Cause the way much of the info out there is worded, it would make you believe it isn't, but it isn't outright said, well not anywhere i could find, & some other info could lead you to believe it is, An some may wonder why anyone would want to do that, Well if you live in a bad area, an you are traveling a lot, you may not want to leave your stuff home unattended, especially considering how expensive they are and also most importantly because you wouldn't ever want your stuff falling into the wrong hands.

Listen I wouldn't do it I would wait but if ur mother bought it and then gave it to you there doesn't have to be a transfer done now that was as of a few yrs ago so I would look that up or call a local ffl or sherrifs office to be sure to get the most updated info

1st whoever made this video shouldn't of. 2nd. Any carrying in a vehicle is considered concealed. 3. A LTCF allows you to carry a loaded "handgun" in a vehicle. Also to carry a loaded handgun concealed on your person. 4. A LTCF can be thought more of as a concealed carry permit.

Back in the 80s, Pennsylvania prohibited the purchase and possession of firearms to those convicted of a crime of violence, and "firearm" then meant a 15" or less long barrel so this law only pertained to handguns. The Gun Control Act of 1968 prohibits possession by those convicted of any crime punishable by more than a years sentence, and this includes all firearms. This discrepancy caused a lot of confusion and bad advice as local and state officials back then weren't educated on the federal gun laws and many didn't even know who the ATF really were. Also, there was no Internet to look up this information. Always take your advice from a qualified attorney and not a paralegal like a county probation officer.

I'm In Jersey near the Penn border close to Philadelphia. I have a Jersey ccw which qualifies me for a Pennsylvania CCW. In Penn the permits are issued by the county and I for the life of me cannot find a county that issues to non residents. Anyone have any idea of k ow which counties issue? Thanks

All this is about to chang, they have a bill in the state house that reads all ammo by January 4th 2024 must have serial numbers on both the bullet and casing, and must be a different number with every box sold. All ammo that you have in possession now must be used or destroyed by the new law date. This is just a bill. So if you live in Pennsylvania. Bett talk to your local rep. To keep your gun rights before anything like this ever happeneds.

U can carry other weapons with a carry permit. The permit is called a concealed weapon/ carry permit. Meaning you can carry a knife concealed. As long as it is leagal to carry under pa restrictions u can carry it. No to brass knuckles or blugeons of any type.

You can if you have your license to carry and conceal if you don’t you have to unload it and keep the ammunition separate from the gun in two different locations in the vehicle

@@FreshhCutz really? No I haven’t. Tbh I carry whenever I want to carry, I live in the middle of nowhere, nobody ever questions it. Even the cops I talked to about it couldn’t care less if I carry. It helps to live in a small town where the cops are the same ones who used to keep you in line as a kid, and everyone knows each other and their families.

The Sheriff of the county that denied must provide a reason. Typically a criminal conviction or domestic violence PO are disqualifiers.

Constitutional carry is legal in Pa as long as it is OPENLY carried. To open carry in this State you do not need any permits (unless in a vehicle) or even the carrying of ID. The concealed carry permit is for carrying concealed ( Philly is the only exception to this) and or while in a vehicle even if open carried. Took your channel .43 seconds to allow me to decide this channel is a no go for me.

@@ConcealedCoalition @1:50 the one girl says along the lines of anyone in PA who carries a firearm in a vehicle without a permit is committing a felony. This is not the way the law reads. At least not the copy of title 18 I have. Unless my copy is outdated. To summarize(read the full text of title 18, particularly section 6106) It's only a misdemeanor unless you are ineligible to hold a LTCF or have committed any other criminal violation. There are quite a few exceptions as well. One particular one I'd like to point out is exception 13. The location of the firearm and whether or not it is loaded is also a huge factor.
