I have a Honda Saber which is a VERY similar bike. I have a power commander on it and full exhaust and it is extremely fast! I too do scrape a peg on right turns🤷🏾♂️
@@killermed95 I also have the Sabre 1300. I love it, but had a bit of trouble at low speed at first. Dropped it three time in the first 3 weeks. No damage except destroyed pegs which I replaced with floor boards. My only complaint was the stubby stock mirrors. I could not see trucks following me at all. I got ape hanger mirrors now, and my view to the rear is excellent. And Ya, no tach, and fuel gauge really sucks. Also I keep trying to hit 6th gear, and there ain't none. Oops! Other than that, it is a keeper.
I have the 2010 Sabre, basically the same bike, same engine and drivetrain, same 21inch front wheel, the Sabre has a pro street bike look with shorter front forks. I bought it new and I've only had to do basic maintenance to it, oil changes, tires, and batteries. It still has the factory headlight and taillight bulbs still in it.. The reliability of these bikes is almost supernatural, mine still runs and looks like new. Not one issue with my bike in 13yrs.
My first bike was an '11 Fury that I bought in '14. Eventually traded for an MT-09 because I'm an adrenaline junkie but really you can't ask for a better bike if you want that chopper look and feel with factory prices and servicing and parts. Pro tip: yank the baffles out of the pipes and it'll sound how it looks.
the stateline was way better, they stuck with the 1300 that was first put on VTX series to which I have now and has more power (100hp/75 torque carbed). I hated that they got rid of cluster on tank and put it in the handle bar. Less space to put things on the bar or even put a drag bar on. Cant put a cowel on it like most cruisers etc, its a great look but they tuned the engine down for MPGs but id rather take 37mpg with more power vs 42+ etc. The only thing they really kept was motor/and headlight design (best style out there).
I'm so happy you did this video. I absolutely LOVE my Fury, but I think you're right. Its a tractor, but I'm all in for it's look. I also don't mind the length, weight, heavy clutch, or large grips, because I'm very large. This bike fits me perfectly.
Had a '17 Fury, absolutely loved it, but very uncomfortable for longer rides. Ended up getting a Harley Touring in place of it. Still miss it sometimes though. If they have it a bigger motor, 6th gear, and a little more fuel capacity, I probably wouldn't have gotten rid of it
The fury came out just after the occ chopper craze was over. It’s a cool bike and they seem to hold their value. I wish they had put the 1800cc engine in it. With some pipes it sounds pretty good.
And the 1800 has a dual pin crank vs the single pin on the 1300. The 1300 with baffles removed has the perfect sound unlike the 1800 which in my opinion sounds lousy. Louder, but not good
I have a 2019 honda fury. Once you get use to the length and the 34 degree rake it becomes part of you. I live in the North East and ride backroads with farmland and woods, it's handling and rns runs great. Did some mods. EFI, pipes and intake, simple stuff. There are many like it but this one is mine and I absolutely LOVE it.
OC: Really like how you’re branching out to other types of bikes Chase & team, Thank You! I am Up in Canada, the Shadow Aero, VTX, Interstate and Fury have been discontinued for years here, but it’s great to see I could still get most of those options south of the border though. What would be cool is to have the Interstate with that 1300 and the Fury with the more outrageous style have the old 1800 from the VTX. Anyhoo, happy riding, see you on the next one!
OC, The thing about the fury that is amazing is that Honda designed and engineered a chopper that is actually rideable. Normally choppers are super difficult to turn/swerve and make terrible street bikes, but Honda set out to make a street friendly chopper and the fury was born. You have to remember that back in the 70’s and 80’s choppers were the original drag bikes made to go high speed in a straight line. They took Harley’s and Triumphs, chopped off as much weight as possible (hence the name), souped up the engine, and stretched out the rake to make it stable while accelerating.
If you’re looking for a bike that does it’s job, has the looks and is unique, has a beautiful sound with a aftermarket exhaust and don’t really care about a super sport that goes 140+ mph on the highway this is your bike, chase is not a cruiser guy, and in my personal opinion, I’d ride it even though it doesn’t go 150+ mph on the highway. That sparkle yellow is beautiful in the sun
I love the Fury. But….the low power and plastic parts ruined it for me. When I see cruisers, I get the classic muscle car vibe. Big, heavy, loud, surprisingly fast and a blast to drag race. That vibe is what led me to get my Yamaha Raider. It embodies all those aspects. I wouldn’t mind owning a Fury if Honda put a motor in it that gave it the power it looks, to me, like it should have.
Awesome stock lines, too narrow tank and rear tire, too small motor, but it was on my small list of possible bikes 1) Honda Fury 2) Harley Davidson Breakout 3) Yamaha Raider S And I LOVE my Raider S black and chrome!
This dude needs to lay off the soy milk .. and quit overthinking every tiny little thing ! .. if you are looking for a review of this bike find another video because this dude is seriously prejudice !
awesome to see a first-timer enjoy a Fury!! i scrape pegs every day on mine, its an absolutely beautiful bike and amazing fun to ride. stock power leaves something to be desired for sure, but once you mod them for power as mine is, they really open up to a significant degree. and of course its a Honda so its about as reliable as Stonehenge itself, awesome video!
@@michaelsellmer4910 Get a stage 1 kit. A fuel processor, exhaust, and a high flow filter. Honda sets these bikes up to run very lean and very restrictive exhaust to pass emissions. You just need uncork them. It made a huge difference on my bike.
Great review, would like to see a Yamaha FJR 1300 review. I would like to know if it’s still relevant in today’s SPORTS TOURING segment. I’ve see your Kawasaki Concourse 1400 review, enjoyed very much, but I’ve checked & I don’t see FJR Review on FJR.
I’ve had my 2016 fury for a four years now and it’s still my overall favorite bike done a few changes to it but not many the only two things I wished they would change is it’s needs a six speed transmission and then wished they would offer a 1800 engine cause it needs more power like the m109 Suzuki but overall it gets way more attention than my Harley or Indian but great video
that would be pretty cool, I second that notion. Curious PigRadar is that name any relation to a USMC MOS ? if you have no idea what I'm talking about just simply say no :-)
@@greenmarine5 No. I picked PigRadar years ago for either 2 reason. 1 was finding bacon. And the second was for the police scanners in your car. Thought it was funny.
God I love those old intruders. I had a 2003 800cc and I loved that bike but sadly the bike was just too small for me. I'm just too tall for it. Even with extended controls I looked silly.
Ya gotta admit, Honda got pure creds to creating a beast chopper motorcycle that gives so much coolage when rydin' it out with style. I love the bike so much it's pretty much a most important one to ever take a nice cruise and imprint self-sufficiency to a person's mellow immunity. Although the Shadow Phantom is the motorcycle I certainly wanna own and ryde on to pick as a first ever, the Fury really is a dope motorcycle 💯💯💯 When I get certified for a motorcycle learner's permit and license, the Fury's definitely a back-up chariot that give me confidence, just like as cool as its color 😎
I think we should consider a new type of first ride. Would be nice to see you explore the bike in a more active way. Driving slow in city traffic. It feels more like a podcast then a review. Personally I get bored 8-10 minutes into video. That is my personal experiences on the firs rides. But, you got a very good variety of bikes and you ride a lot of new exciting motorcycles. Aggressive riding is the wrong word. But it would be nice to see you “test” the bike capability more. Just a though.
My first bike ever was a 2010 Stateline. A more tame looking version but still badass looking. Also has more HP & torque than these but still leaves you wanting just a bit more. Great beginner or intermediate bike but wouldn’t want to take the certification coarse on it.
I have the 2010 vt1300 Sabre, same bike as yours just has the same 21inch front tire that the Fury has. I bought mine new in 2010, it has 20,000 miles on it now and all I've had to do to it in 13 yrs is basic maintenance, tires, batteries and oil changes. It still has the factory headlight and taillight bulbs in it. The reliability of these bikes is almost supernatural. Mine still runs and looks like new. Honda reliability is second to none.
In the early models they did color matched frames. I think a yellow frame with the silver wheels (yellow/yellow/silver) would make it look a ton better than the yellow/grey/black. Also I've heard a bunch of fury owners say they want a 6 speed. Might help with mpg even if it doesn't have the power to fully utilize it for speed. Lastly they need to bring back the vtx1800 motor (101hp/117ft-lbs) for the fury or boost the output of the current motor.
I ride a 2011 Fury and absolutely love it. It took a few miles to get the feel for it but it has been awesome every time since. The first 2 or 3 years of production, most Furys came with chrome wheels, handlebars, engine block and side panels. Around 2013 they started blacking out these same parts. Each year Honda chooses one or two different paint options. I am not a big fan of some paint options, but with 12+ years of production, I am sure most people can find a color/package that they will enjoy. Thanks for the review. Keep up the good work.
Scrapping pegs not really a big deal once you get used to it. Never been a fan of the fury look, I think visually the tank is too small. Mos def under powered.
You are lumping a factory chopper into the same category of cruisers...they're similar, but still different, animals. Cruisers are about comfort. Choppers are about the look, and about a very visceral experience. From an engineering standpoint, they make ZERO sense, but from a "raw, unique experience" point of view, they bring something to the table. Not my cup of tea, but choppers - even the Fury - are still fun to look at.
I haven't cracked all that there is to why Honda bikes feel so underpowered for their engine sizes. I know intake and lope speed are factors that regularly improve performance. But I was simultaneously not surprised, and disappointed, by this bike seeming "weak" for it's style and size
I am a Cruiser guy, and I am a Honda fan. I bought the new Honda Rebel 1100 DCT when it first came out last year, and love it. If the Fury came with the DCT, I probably would have bought it. Not a big fan of the yellow though. I enjoy changing the things that I'm not thrilled with, like the stock seat. The stock seat on my Rebel sucked, so I got a nice Corbin seat which cost too much but feels great and makes the bike look much better. I also changed out the exhaust, going with the Two Brothers Racing competition slip-on. Sounds awesome and gave it a little pep I think. A nice set of 12" Ape's with an extended wiring kit, and it's just about done. The Fury needs higher bars and that is about it. I am a fan of the minimal look and they handled it well. Good brakes would have to be a priority though. My friend Gus put some EBT double H sintered pads on his Rebel and I did too and they seem to work much, much better than stock. Sorry for this long comment Chase. I like your channel. The only thing that you have to do is stop saying "super" so much. Thank you. I hit the Like button on just about ALL your videos and I subscribed a long time ago. Thanks again. peace. Erin from Kissimmee Florida.
That gap between the front cylinder and the gas tank just bugs me for some reason. I’d love to ride one all the same VTX1300 engine lives on. Cruisers are great for the people looking. Not sure if a Fury would be for me, but it’s because I generally haul stuff and a pillion
As for the roll on test, Dude, it is never horse power that gets a vee twin going, which is why HD never quote the Horsepower figure of an engine. It is the torque figure that gets a bike launching from dead stop, not horsepower, (which you won't be seeing until the engine has reached certain revs). So.....what is the Torque rating? 79 lb/foot, which is decent especially because it peaks very low in the rev range at 2,250. (a Harley 1200 Sportster has only 73 lb/foot of torque which is produced 1000 revs higher than the fury , so one of those would always be eating your dirt). That means anytime you want ball breaking torque low down out of corners in possibly all gears it will pull away cleanly, because that maximum torque is produced at just 2,250 rpm's. At 302kg it is no lite weight (a Harley 1200 Sporster is 50 kg lighter). Compare that to my Yamaha xv 1900 Road-liner with 92 kw of power (123 horse power), but a massive 128 lb/foot of torque, which was enough to dislocate my wrists and shoulders ha ha ha.
I saw you ride the Fury in mid-high rpm like other sporty bikes. These custom v-twins likes to be ride in mid-low RPM by using their low end torque. By doing this, you'll have less vibration in the handle.
Ha!, Chase good review.... Now if you could do a line up review of the Yamaha Stryker...????. What about the other two Bikes in this review??? The 1100 Honda is now old news, and the Shadow is totally old school..... So anyway, get your film guys to see if they can locate a Stryker and give it a go through..... Stay Safe ..... Ciao.
I love your channel, but......for gosh sake.... you have a MOTORCYCLE channel, why did it take your producer to tell to showcase ALL kinds of bike!!!!!........lol
If you want a bike that requires absolutely minimal maintenance and just runs... this is it. Have my vtx 1300 since 2004. Just runs winter after winter
Rear wheel horsepower is 57.3, so that number isn’t mfr claimed crank hp, also rear wheel torque is 73lb-ft.. not the most impressive numbers just kind of a cool platform to mess with
Kinda pointless to compare something that’s been around for decades longer 🤔 At one point the Sportster hadn’t been updated in over a decade as well 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Funny you say it looks like a west coast chopper. That's because Jesse James of west coast choppers was on the board with honda to design the the Fury I have a 2018 I absolutely love it.
I wonder how many parts are out there to uncork this engine.. I bet there’s a few Furys out there with over 100hp just because of how people who like these types of bikes are when it comes to shop-mods & custom bodywork.
Go ride a Harley 131 street or road glide. I was searching for a big sport touring bike after having a Vfr800 and my curiosity got the best of me. I road a 131 street glide and it was pretty much life changing!
This bike needs mini apes and a peanut tank and a bobbed front fender and it would be the perfect factory chopper. This style of chopper isn't popular anymore and arguably it never really was unless you were one of those roid rage homies who wore a black muscle shirt everywhere, had long blonde or black hair in a bandana at all times, tribal tattoos, and those leather cuff bracelets haha. Old school bobbers and choppers are way more popular than the west coast chopper style bikes if any company other then harley recognized that and did it for an affordable price they'd rule the market. This bike should have died a long time ago but I bet alot of dudes in their 50s buy them or people buy them to try to chop them properly. Oh and spoked wheels would make this bike look way better too
Honda really are the Toyota of motorcycles. They tend to sell outdated stuff and always be behind the trends and new technology, but their shit always just works too. No frills and you even usually pay a little extra, but they are the epitome of function over form
It seems as though you're advertising "First Ride" . Though interesting, I would rather see more of the bikes as they are cruising then the logo "First "First Ride" . A few more stats would be nice, Rather than opinions which were always an after impression. My two cents worth.
That fury sucks and if anything they should've kept the Rune because that was a beautiful bike. Not to mention it's a goldwing with less plastics. The lack of power he's talk about, the single front brake with that weight all turn me off to that bike.
For your commentary on seat height/feet on ground etc you need to tell us YOUR height and inside leg for it to mean anything to us. Edit: That aside, best review of the Fury I've seen!
The Sportster S is not a cruiser. It's in the category of the Ducati Deaval. The fury is not a typical cruiser either. You need to get on typical cruiser bikes.
I had a 2010 Fury I loved it...the most comfortable bike I've owned the only reason I traded it off was lack of power. If they had put the VTX 1800 motor in it their sales would've probably tripled
Their is a guy down the road from me that s blue like color fury very cool don't know if that should be my first bike haven't sat on one yet dealer didn't have one in stock don't know why maybe used one would be better
I think the hard thing with reviewing cruisers especially Harleys is they are underwhelming from the factory because they want you to buy aftermarket stuff. I rode a custom 48 all summer last year and loved it but riding a stock one is kinda meh. Also chase should ride blockheads harley lol
That so dumb their bikes are already overpriced but your saying for them to be coplete you have to spend even more money on major engine modifications?
The mic doesn't need to be nearly in your mouth for it to pick up your voice. There is so much noise coming from your mics due to being too close I just can't listen to anything you guys are saying.
Dude cruisers say what it is in the name,it's not made for drag racing, most cruisers have rpm,Honda made this bike for 10 years so you can buy wind screan, back seat baggers, dual front brakes, motor upgrades etc.
i never liked chopper... and now that the trend is over and everyone is dunking on the fury it start to grow on me...not so much the style , i like the long stroke engine
I have an 04 honda vtx1300c, that's the same motor they ended up putting in the fury but its just set up and tuned different. I went from an 82 honda cm450c to the vtx1300c i had to ask if the vibration was normal..it is lol. Great v twin motors and with aftermarket exhaust sounds imo better than alot of Harleys. The wind buffeting is normal for cruisers. I get up to speed with no problem, i think it's just the difference between a crotch rocket and a cruiser they feel and are geared completely different. If you want a holy shit ride try finding a honda vtx 1800
the yellow would take some getting used to. but yeah, i love the Fury. i ride a Rebel 500 for the time being, but one of these days i will have a Fury. great review by the way. i enjoyed that.
