I was just as skeptical as you at first. I live in the country/upstate NY -- farming community. I bought a 2022 Kona Limited and I'm sold. I absolutely love my kona for daily driving. For my daily driving, home --> work --> home and general errands. it works great for me. For my 12x a year I take longer trips I take my pick up truck. usually I need the truck anyway since I have a boat, camp/hunting gear with me and its hard to recharge a car in the mountains ;)

Compared to the ev6, I found the Ioniq 5 to be more comfortable and better front headroom. One downside is that even in limited trim the rear seats are not heated.

Funny how Hyundai is not in the luxury class like Lexus but manufacturers cars that are more luxurious than most. Sitting in this car and the Palisade is like sitting in first class flight.

no they don't actually. they design well designed vehicles that appear luxurious. Sit in one and feel around and you'll notice the quality in what they do is cheaper. Makes sense given the price point. I worked at Hyundai and coincidentally own a lexus now lol but had an Acura before that

@@arjunsecondary That's a good point. I drove an 18 sonata, top of the line 2.0t limited. Fantastic car. Tons of room, great tech, insane stereo, decently quick...BUT you're right. They use a decent amount of cheap plastics on about 50-60% of the interior. You can't deny the price point so it's worth it especially with the 100k warranty. However, just got into a 18' Audi A4with the 45 engine, premium plus. No ventilated seats but way more advanced, soft touch leather on the dash, real wood and very little scratchy plastic. Different price points obviously but a decent comparison of "luxury" and economy.

I really like the exterior on the Ioniq 5 and the EV6. I much prefer the interior on the EV6 though. I find the Ioniq 5 interior very bland and a bit weird. Unfortunate as the outside is an extremely unique and cool looking car

I was ready to get an Ioniq 5 but Hyundai took too long to annouce US pricing. I ended up checking out a Mustang Mach-E after my friend said he saw a couple around town. Went for a test drive, watched a lot of reviews and ended up ordering one. It may not charge as fast as the Ioniq 5 but it has so many more very important things that I wanted out of an EV like plug and charge, automatically adding charging stops to long trips, and an awesome frunk. Blue Cruise hands free driving is very nice too, has room for imporvement which are coming but a very nice to have system. Plus I can watch youtube in it now which I don't think will ever come to the Ioniq 5 sadly.

@@Colsoulaw I'm unsure as to why the gauge cluster didn't change to the red theme (or why the Blind spot camera didn't pop up on indicating), but there's a noticeable red word 'SPORT' that pops up at the base of the screen which means he did put it into sport mode. It's hard to read on camera but it's there.

They do yes and also when you use the paddle to brake when in auto regen which is what I use, very rarely use the brake pedal.

This car is an amazing daily driver - so quiet and comfortable. However, 80% of ice cars are not very fun to drive - combined w weak droning engines, i find most ice cars unpleasant to drive now we have gotten EVs.

If it went 350 miles on the manufacturer recommended 80% charge it would be perfect.

Only how often do you take a trip over 200miles on a charge. Most of the time you just charge at home and it will be 80% every morning. Even when you need to go far this car allow for crazy fast charging that range shouldn’t be too much of an issue (well charging infrastructure needs to ramp up though but in time it will)

@@sentryion3106 I currently have a Honda civic. When I fill up the tank it gets roughly 350-360 miles to the tank. Yet if the civic only got 200 miles on a full tank I wouldn’t have bought it. Whether I take long trips or not.

@@TATTEDGAY yes but does it matter? You lose the range in favor of better drivability but at the end of the day you will rarely see the effect of the range concern. If you won’t see the effect of it why does it have to be a deal breaker?

@@sentryion3106 I and other people will see the effects tho. The more someone has to either get gas or plug in their car the more they will notice it. Also to continue making EVs for everyone manufacturers need to find a way so that renters and people that live in apartments and condos a way to charge easier as well. The less range any vehicle has whether it’s EV or ICE the more they will have to refuel and charge so people definitely notice it and not everyone is going to place “better drive ability” over range.
