Trim level difference is kind of on par with the Tucson Hybrid. I opted for the Limited and I don't regret it. Even for $5K more. The 360 surround view, memory seats, and blind spot view cameras are worth it.

I was thinking the same it’s the ladder effect. 🤔🤔🤔I’ll go SE wait I can get the SEL for 3k more but then again I can get the limited for 3k more but wait I can get a Tesla for 61k Funny how our minds work and pockets get bigger with each step. The bummer for me was it’s expensive to insure and most importantly it won’t be available as of now until Jan 2023.

If it came down to a limited with a single motor, vs the SE with dual motors, I wouldn’t even consider the limited. Would I love the air cooled seats? Sure I would, but that’s really the biggest thing I feel like I’m missing. I mean, seriously, I’m not paying for Vegan Leather. I’ll get the cloth and have somebody reupholster them with real leather if it means that much to me. As for the sub woofer, leg rest, and outlet in the back, nice to have, but not must haves. Anyway, I’m very happy with my Ioniq 5 SE AWD.

Those chargers kind of look familiar... The outdoor review of the Limited was shot at the new(ish) EA chargers about 2 miles from my house. I remember that 70 degree day; the next day it was in the 30's. Yes, the Limited is definitely the way to go. The roof really changes the car, and the heads up display is transformative. However, after test driving both the Ioniq 5 and the sibling Kia EV6, the Kia's handling is much more to my liking. I'm shopping around for one now.

Going sans glass roof will definitely quiet down the ride a bit with the extra headliner insulation. I tend to drive around with a roof rack and/or roof box, sometimes with ladders and other noisy items on the roof, a glass roof would probably be annoying as all hell.

I rather the HUD on the mid spec on the Ev6 too which I've seen on other RU-vid channel (Kia Hyundai channel) you can go in the settings and change the height higher or lower for each driver preference. What also gets me about these cars with a big pano glass roof is they don't open here N. AMERICA but I seen in a Phillipines video the Id.4 roof opens. I want an open roof why pay for glass hot box and it doesn't open for $1-$2k extra. Also why they give Asia an open roof and US fixed glass when Asians constantly have monsoon downpour rains is beyond me. 🤣🤣Give us all open roofs not everyone has to be another Tesla. That mid spec would be just fine with HUD heated&cool seats and a decent moonroof. ✅

A super comparison of the three models! Thank you so much. One issue no one has covered is the necessity of AWD for winter driving. I have had a front engine, front wheel drive vehicle for years and have had no problems with NE Ohio winter. Is an AWD EV really necessary under these circumstances? With a rear wheel drive only configuration you would be saving money on the purchase price, reduce the vehicle’s weight and complexity and not have to give up the range - considerable in some cases - of AWD . Any thoughts on this by anyone? Thank you
@dconner9
@dconner9 2 года назад
Agree you would most likely be fine with RWD; especially since the motor sits over the rear axle. You would however be giving up more power; although I have driven the RWD and it seemed fine to me from a performance perspective. You will also lose the heat pump which could hurt range in the Winter months. Thanks for watching!
@moonsapling
@moonsapling Год назад
If you dont plan on going offroading (which this vehicle isnt made for) RWD is all you need. It has absolutely enough power to travel comfortably and the money you save on AWD you can spend on good tires. Also dont forget the fact that the electric motor sits on the rear axle and combined with very precise traction control and good tires I highly doubt you will have any issues even in snow. A friend of mine has a Ioniq 5 Long Range RWD, he has winter tires on jt and it had no trouble climbing to the ski resort unlike some AWD SUVs with bad tires which struggled to get through what we did. If you dont need 300hp then you wont miss the AWD. It acts like RWD 99% of the time anyways.
@rkgsd
@rkgsd 2 года назад
Here's an interesting question. How does the range on a RWD extended range compare to using an AWD trim in eco mode (ie RWD mode)?I doubt it's exactly the same because of the extra weight of a 2nd motor.

I am on the pre-order list...and I can say I am VERY disappointed with my local dealership. They are marking up all Ioniq 5 models $10k. Ludicrous.

Shop around; if you are willing to travel, I am quite confident you will be able to find many SE and SEL’s at MSRP; and perhaps a few limited models as well. Last I checked, Hyundai 112 on Long Island is MSRP with a $175 doc fee and no dealer prep as an example. Good luck to you and start calling around! It’s a great car

Shows their integrity. I walked away from one that was asking 5k over. They called me 2 hours later to say they will take it down 1k and I sent him a picture of the invoice of the SE I bought at msrp.

Does AWD on electric vehicles have the same tyre restrictions as on gasoline AWD I wonder? What I mean is, I have a Tucson AWD and when I recently had an almost 'unrepairable' puncture in one tyre (too close to the sidewall to safely repair) - I found out that if the threads on all tyres were worn below a certain level, ALL FOUR tyres would need to be replaced - specifically because too much of a difference in tyre wear across all tyres will wreck my transmission.... Uggghhh

I'm probably going for the limited 2024 with all the options difference from SEL to Limited if I'm paying that much for a new car I want that roof 😂

3:58 Hyundai has given the SEL the same headlights as the SE for 2023. Why Hyundai? Why? Oh, I know... because they want you to spend even more for the Limited. Not gonna happen!

Don't know if it's mentioned in these comments. Limited will turn down the drivers seat into what they call gravity. Does those adjustments you did, automatically.

Im trying to buy a limited. But the dealership here that has them is all 5k markup. I hope i cam get one for msrp within the next few months

The cargo cover is what I and many others call a booty cover. So people who may want to steal your stuff can't see your booty.

Just spend the money? A) not everyone has deep pockets, B) dealers are ripping people off with ADM, C) you can’t pre order so you are at the supply chain mercy.

Why the guy with the basic model that sold his Tesla M3 for the base model IONIQ5. Can you or did you find out the reason for this car change?
@Yanquetino
@Yanquetino 2 года назад
Good comparison! Answered a lot of my questions about the differences. I'd definitely go for the Limited. I know the Ioniq 5 has a tow rating of 2,000 lbs., but nobody can tell me if it's possible to order one *with* the tow hitch installed. Gotta know that to pull a tiny 265 lb. camping trailer before I could take the plunge.
@amigajoe
@amigajoe 2 года назад
The tow hitch is on the list of 'Port Installed Accessories'. So, I guess it depends on whether your dealer is actually letting you 'order' your car while it is still in-transit, or if they are only selling off the dealership floor.

Price-way, I'd say go Limited or SEL (for value) forget SE, go RWD and you'll get extra range.

I really don't care for the silver trim along the bottom of the front bumper and along the sides of the Limited. Should be black all around.

Driver's seat headrest in Limited is adjustable too (not sure on other trims), can move forward and back. Also Digital Key, use your phone or an NFC card to unlock and start the car, only in Limited. Limited also has rear window sunshades. Limited has automatic up/down front windows.

How well does the Ioniq digital key work? The one in my Tesla works amazingly well. However my polestar digital key stopped working two weeks ago, with me almost getting stuck and un able to drive the car home one night

I live in the desert. The last thing I'd want in a car is a glass roof. I've heard news stories of glass failures in extreme cold conditions too.

I noticed the Limited was sporting Michelin tires. Is that what normally comes on it or did the owner add them himself?

I think every car in every trim should have memory seats. I'm also baffled by the fact that neither the Ionic 5 nor the EV6 have rear wipers. Question for you: Can you change the HUD size to be larger?
@jzed
@jzed 2 года назад
I don’t have an Ioniq 5, but I do have a 2020 Genesis G70 with the HUD. I imagine they’re similar in settings since they’re both newer Hyundai cars. On mine, I can change the size of the speed, but cannot change the overall size of the HUD display. That said, you can move the HUD up and down and rotate/tilt side to side to get it in just the right spot.

There's no rear window wiper, so if you're driving in heavy rain when on the highway you can't see out the back window....dangerous if you ask me....
@misterfunnybones

You do realise that truck drivers have no rear view at all - it's all side mirrors. Plus, I'm pretty sure the reverse cam can be optionally set in stale view on the screen if you're that interested in whatever is behind you.
