Got a blue 2022 GT today. Found out pretty quick the smoother you are with the throttle. The better the DCT does in slow stuff. I was impressed with the seats and quality of the interior. The ride is better than I thought it would be. That sound system just wow!! Thanks W.T.F for the review it helped.
I rented a 2023 Soul LX, and it turned me towards a Kia Soul Turbo, but, I was really satisfied with the acceleration of the 2.0 litre. It FELT FAST, it really moved. I could have lived with it.
Nice review. I’m on my 3rd KIA Soul and this one is the 2022 GT Turbo which has been discontinued sadly but it’s worth more now. Drove it to Atlanta a month ago drove like a dream on smooth Hiway got 36 mpg driving 75/80 and 27 mpg inner city driving under 41 mph. Full LED lights up front and taillight the headlights are at the top (4) square modules (2) regular beam (2) hi beam, fog light and turn signal at the bottom. The other models have headlights at the bottom except the GT Line it has the outer appearance of the GT Turbo without the 7 speed DCT and the turbocharged engine. It reminds me of a storm trooper from the front, even a Range Roverish look too. I plan to keep this one but my sites are on the Hyundai Kona N too. Harmon Kardon 10 speaker sound system is awesome! Keep up the good reviews
What does your Kia sold turbo take for oil? Is it 5W-30 or 0W-20? I've been putting the 5W-30 because that's what the manual says. But I'm not too sure if it's during the winter or what. My car has been running like out near a thousand RPM on idle. I got an oil change today forgetting to tell them that I have the turbo edition and they put 020 and it's running a lot smoother. I know the baseline model requires 020
I use what the manufacturer recommends since it was built by them (5w/30 synthetic )It may nullify your warranty if you do not. I understand you may need a different weight oil depending on your climate, etc. but I would ask KIA what is best and in writing and keep it with all your maintenance paperwork if there’s a problem down the road when it comes to your warranty they may say you did not comply. That’s with any manufacturer. I hope I was of some assistance. Still loving my KIA Soul Turbo!
I used regular gas and the car stuttered a little off of the line. When I used premium gas it was a new car. No stuttering and smoother shifting. The car has 12 to one compression. I should have know better. Will it run with regular, yes, but it runs as it should when you use premium. These are a tremendous value. The tactile feel of the controls are up with the best at any cost. Performance is excellent and the brakes are larger than the standard and work great. Too bad they stopped the turbo model, but when chip stuff settles down who knows, perhaps it will come back.
I just got the 2023 Kia Soul GT line Snow White a few days ago . I haven’t had the opportunity to drive it other back home from the dealership . And even though it’s not a turbo it seems really fast. I can always get a turbo put in later on but really not a deal breaker .
I have the same one. Would like it better with a turbo. Have you used "Sport Mode" yet? raises the RPM shift points and down shifts earlier... don't know how useful it is. I do love the car, but would tweak it a bit if I could. IVT is pretty good, would rather have a six speed transmission.
@@4vickiekaye I have used sport mode on the street not on the freeways. Occasionally I do. I do prefer sport mode but don’t know how much gas that eats up as I do drive longer distances at times .

I love my Soul, 2.0, 147 hp, IVT transmission. High ride quality, very low noise cabin, awesome LED lights for night driving and the resolution of the multimedia center screen is excellent.
@@dav3917I rented one with that engine and trans. Good performance! It's not a rocket but the car gets out of its own way easily. If you drive in sport tiptronic mode and shift it manually, letting it rev out? Great power for what it is
Sport mode is useful if you’re constantly accelerating or driving aggressively for fun, but if you’re just cruising on the highway or don’t need to accelerate hard, I’d leave it in normal mode for the slightly better gas milage 👍🏼
I got very lucky at John Starks Kia they just had a 2022 Kia Soul GT Line Turbo in Flame Red. I didn't let a minute go by and bought it on the spot before it was gone in 60 seconds. It's my 2nd. Kia and I'm keeping both of them.
One of the characteristics of a dual clutch transmission is jerkiness from first gear to second gear. To eliminate that use your shifters on the steering wheel or put it in manual at the gearbox it is a characteristic I can live with because I’ve driven a manual transmission before I love it after it hits that second gear your on your way! The dual clutch transmission can take more stress than a regular transmission being that you have a turbo charged engine in the car with the 1.6. You can also change it to Sport to eliminate that.
@@dav3917 that is correct but your rpm’s will be higher and you will use more gasoline if u keep that on. I only use it when I need to get up and outta my own way fast or need that turbo boost instantaneously No Lag but be careful it comes with a lot of oversteer if u put your foot in it you’ll find yourself almost in the backseat of the car in front of u. So just creeping about in slow traffic or in a parking lot should eliminate the trans from jerking.
August 20th, 2023: I had rented a Car (2023 Kia Soul LX Automatic) Never together were the Turbo and Manual shift. I first searched for a Manual. Found one (LX version) Wasn't impressed with its power. Carmax gives a 24 hour test-drive, and so, I didn't buy it. Next, searched for a Turbo. Found it. 2021 Turbo, 7800 miles, Nice. Flew to Fla from NY to pick it up. Finished my drive to NY just Fri, the 18th. Nice car. Impressive acceleration. Roomy as is said in this video. Yes, as soon as I sat inside, the comfort of the seats grabbed my attention ... Very nice seat. Very nice interior. Caught many road surfaces going North on 95. On the wrong surface, this car is LOUD. At high speeds, 80 - and up, also LOUD wind noise. Subtract that shortcoming, and this is a great package. There are cars that are 'fast', but you don't feel fast. Then there is this. It FEELS Fast. This top-of-the-line has all the accoutrements. Definitely, the way to go. (But I must say this about the 2023 Soul LX I rented. I thought I would miss 'terribly' the Manual Shift, but I started to get a kick about the acceleration of the Automatic. How nice it rode, its great visibility, and how 'planted' it felt, and how fast that transmission engaged when requested. The LX Experience got me to search for the last of the Turbos, and turn away from searches for MazdaSpeed 3's and Ford Focus ST's, both of which I have owned in the past. I'm satisfied with the Soul Turbo, and it's the First Automatic transmission I've had since 1977, when I dumped a Buick skylark, in just 6 weeks, and bought a 280Z ... This car's rear section is as ugly as my 1st wife's tail end, but, like her, the Soul FEELS NICE, lol .... Now I've got Soul ... !

I never even thought about this carish Kia. Had no idea the interior was so nice. Or that it has as much HP as Civic SI /Integra. Lots of great features. All for under 30k WOW. If it just was not so funny looking. I do have a new found respect for this thing. Guess I'll stop making fun of people who drive them
Get a Turbo version. You'll get over the rear end look ... this car is a 'utility' and it's fun to drive, great seats and interior, great mileage too ...
It’s still considered an “SUV” so I wouldn’t do anything too crazy in it, but I’ve seen a 350z flip over on a highway after merging into an F-150 so sometimes you just gotta blame the driver and not the car!
well dang, in searching for information on the car i bought yesterday, here i come across a video of the actual car i purchased from regal in lakeland. neat.
I agree but these are dealership cars that haven’t really been broken in yet so I wouldn’t want to do that until I can get my hands on some pre driven press cars!
