It's Bear,
Let's face it, I am a man of few words. I really wanted to dive in deep on why I love the 2022 KLR 650 Model, and honestly it's hard to pick just a few things to talk about. My opinion: this is hands down the Best KLR out there, I can say this with confidence because I have owned all 3 generations.
So let's cut to the chase, if you're on the fence of buying a KLR 650 or another motorcycle, just do it. Get out, have fun, get dirty and just try getting that grin off your face.
I mention my top case in this video, and a few videos so far - here is the "system" I'm sticking with for the time being.

I've dreamed of a KLR650 for 20 years and finally got one to replace the Himalayan I've been riding for about 4 years. It's a 2022 Adventure model and I love it. It's just past 700 miles and I did the first service today. I've replaced the foot pegs. I lengthened the shift lever. I put a HF hard case on the back platform. I put yellow film over the auxiliary lights. Put a mount on it for a cheap Garmin. I've ridden mostly on the road, but my son and I rode some trails last weekend. I love this thing. I rode the Himalayan on a 1600 mile trip a couple summers ago, and i can't wait to see how the KLR performs on a similar trip this summer.

Mark, congrats on fulfilling your dream. Have safe adventures!

Great vid sir! In the 53 days I've owned my '22 Adventure, I have 2173 100% local city/hwy miles. My major mods: (1) Delkevic slip on, (2) Seat Concepts commuter seat, (3) National Cycle tall V Stream windshield. I'm retired and would have more miles on her if the south texas heat weren't so oppressive. Thank u and keep up the good werx!

I got my first klr 650 a month ago. She's a 2022 Adventure model that I named Raven. Removed the factory footpegs and installed the steel spike-style pegs. Installed a Tusk shifter and mounted an Apache hardcase on the back plate. This bike is amazing/some have called it the Swiss Army knife of bikes and I can see why. The Adventure is just beginning....
@brotherhoodofthebeardedpig9853
Excellent! We can't wait for warmer weather and more adventures, too.

Im like you, I have no use for that stock top case, I know a lot of folks like them, I dont need it. I like you, Love my bike. I am agreement, its an awesome bike and the fuel injection is the bomb. I am so happy with this one. I had a gen 2, loved it, and didnt get to ride it to its full potential due to my buddy needing to find his son a bike, so it was gifted to him if you will. He still rides it. Thanks again for the review. I love it. Keep up the great work Dale

This might be my first bike in 20 years. Im a bit worried about the weight and height of it. I'm 5'11" and 185lbs. I've only rode dirt bikes and 4 wheelers, but need something that can do highway speeds well because im about 45 mins from the mountains, yet go on dirt and gravel roads for camping. Love to watch your channel. Stay safe.

We are pleased that you enjoy the channel. Might we suggest visiting a dealership to see if the S-model is a better height for you? We also grew up riding dirt bikes, and the weight difference is there, especially in sand and mud, but duel sport riding is different than trail riding and mx.

I love my KLR. I've logged in almost 1900 miles in 2 weeks so far. Mostly road and some off road. Laid it down once this past Sunday, couldn't even tell I laid it over🤗

I’m now riding a Versys 300X after selling my KLR650. I wanted something more “nimble” off road. Even though the Versys is a lot of fun it is way less capable off road. I’m thinking I may go back to the 650 but several things are bugging me. The 650 burns oil but I have found the Versys does also, but not as bad. The 650 really needs a sixth gear but they still didn’t add one. Signed: Undecided

Honestly, if you're looking for trail riding bike, the KLR isn't going to perform well. If we were wanting to ride more sandy ORV trails or even single track, we'd opt for a KLX or CRF, or an enduro bike.

After owning multiple motorcycles, including a KTM1190 adventure , suzuki vstrom 1000xt, and my last one was a Yamaha super tenere xt1200z , now I am looking for a 2022 klr650, after my son bought his, I was sold. I had a 2014, the 3rd gen is so much better, not faster 😁. Just don't expect more than the klr was meant to be and you will be fine.

I agree 💯 !! I’ve made the jump and bought a 2022 KLR and love it! I have two other motorcycles ( ‘03 Harley softail and a Moto Guzzi V85tt adventure ) I’ve only put 260 miles on my KLR so far but I enjoy riding it so much especially at speeds below 60 mph . As nice as my Guzzi is I find myself constantly taking the KLR out instead 🤪 The KLR is not a fast powerful motorcycle, it’s powerful enough and is not intimidating but rather it’s just fun! It’s like the CJ Jeep of motorcycles 😁✌️

Agreed, Hammer Slammer, the KLR isn't amazing at anything, but perfectly decent at almost anything. That's why we choose it it as our platform for this channel. Bear has a cruiser, and I will probably get one eventually, but for everyday riding and modest adventuring, the KLR really is the Jack of All Trades.

I have been Gen 1,2, and now 3 and by far best bike for the price. If you know its limits its a fantastic bike. Best bang for the buck!

I have a 2022 KLR Adventure as well with about 2700 miles. Tires still have juice left, figure I have another 1500 miles left on them. The hard bags are functional and do the job but its a matter of time before they break. I wont change out the hard bags till they do. What surprised me is the comfort of the seat. Its the only motorcycle I have ever purchased where I did not have to buy a aftermarket seat. My only gripe is the hand guards and skid plate. Wish they made them more useful so we dont have to buy replacements for them but after all said and done, love the motorcycle!!!. For the money paid, best darn adventure bike in the market!!!

Thanks for update...I just couldn't do the KLR, I'm a short-legged guy and just couldn't make it work. Too bad because you get a lot for your money. I I was enjoying it except when I crashed again and again! Thanks again!

maybe the 2023 KLR S would fit you as it is 2.3 inches lower than stock KLR.

2023 now has an S model that is a shorter variant. Lowered suspension and seat makes it easier for shorter riders. If you haven’t bought something else you might check this out.

Thanks for the video. I have a few questions for ya! Do you regret getting the adventure model instead of just putting on your own crashbar, luggages, and lights? How is this gen on the highway at 75mph? Any reservations about this compared to other adventure bikes?
@brotherhoodofthebeardedpig9853
@brotherhoodofthebeardedpig9853 2 года назад
That is a good question, and no, I don't regret it at all. I like the color scheme, I love the lights, and I created a DIY quick release for the top case that solved that issue. I weigh over 300lbs and can get the bike to 80 with no issues, I have had it up to 90 a few times passing a semi. And I personally don't have reservations on buying it over any other bike. Yes, some of the other bikes are faster, but to me, that's not the point of riding where I want. It's a good bike for what I need it for, others may want something different... as long as they are happy when they ride -- that's all that matters. :)

Hey great video, thank you for sharing. I am looking to pickup the adventure model in 3 days. Should I be concerned about the thermo bob and doohickey replacements? I think the internet has folks just too worried over it. Thanks again.

How would you characterize the vibrations compared with the gen1?
@brotherhoodofthebeardedpig9853
There still present, but they dampen them in both the foot pegs and handle bars. I find it to be a much more pleasant ride. :)

Bear is 6'2" and 300+ lbs. Tummy is 6' and 265 lbs. With the preload set to max on the rear suspension, we can pack on 60 lbs of gear and ride pavement and dirt roads perfectly.

How much do you weigh? I'm a taller, heavier set guy (300 club) and trying to get the opinions of heavier people on this bike
@KRasnake
@KRasnake 2 года назад
I'm 240ish and have hauled my camping gear etc so that would put me around/over the 300lb mark and it does okay. The suspension is a bit soft for that kinda weight in serious off road conditions but you will be fine on stock suspension if you're primarily on hardtop and gravel roads.
