Great video, I have a question, I was thinking about putting on either a full Procircuit exhaust system on my 2022 KX450 or just a slip on but some people say that when you change the entire exhaust system with the header pipe it doesn't run the same the performance goes down, is that true And if I change the full exhaust do I have to do anything with the ECU?
That makes no sense at all. Pro circuit would not sell a $1,100 system that makes the bike worse and a $500 slip on that works better. No remap is required.
@@granttaylorvlogs Yeah I'm just asking and I'm going off of what others have said, even the guy at the dealership, he races for the local dealership that I bought my bike from and he put an FMF full exhaust system on his 2020 KX450 and he told me the same thing that it actually runs better with the stock system. It's not terrible with the aftermarket system it just runs better with the stock because when they build the tune package they build it for the stock original exhaust system not an aftermarket. Just like my 2021 CRF110 pit bike, if you start putting after market stuff like intake and exhaust you have to remap the ECU.
@@rayv882 I would call a performance shop and ask them. Not the guy at the dealership. I had fmf and pro circuit. Pro circuit was best for my kawi. Stock was the worst. Not to say stock is bad. But to compare the 3 it it’s not as good. But that’s my preference for how I like the bike to ride.
Hey man I have a 2016 KX 450 and was wondering how much a difference you feel going from stock to aftermarket, either PC or FMF. Mainly looking for more power/traction coming out of sandy corners. We ride in FL and have a lot of sand down here!
Kawis seem too get a lot of response from the PC. The fmf is great too. I feel the Pc gives a more connected feel to the throttle. But I don’t have personal experience with that year model. Something I tell everyone. Tires are the only thing connecting your power to the ground. So a 100 hp bike is no better than a 50 hp bike if you don’t have tires to get traction (especially in sand). So I’d make keeping fresh tires a priority. Exhausts are cool, they look good, give better throttle response normally. But without good tires all it does is look good.
Have you tested riding the bike with insert in and compared taking it out ? I'm sure I read a keefer testing page where he says keep it in because it helps with back pressure or something to give it more response ..
Yes I did. Without the spark arrestor it has a very aggressive snap on the throttle. The spark arrestor helps mellow out the initial hit. BUT. That is with me running the vortex ignition. Im going to try it with stock ignition today and see what difference that makes.
What’s up brother, new subscriber! I have the same bike with the same pro circuit exhaust. Is it safe to run the bike without the spark arrestor? I figure it is and it’s just a safety precaution for trail riding. I agree I like the sound of the t6 system without the arrestor as well! Thanks!
Yes for sure you can. But i found that the pipe without the spark arrestor is very touchy on the throttle. Something im going to try is cutting the screen out of the spark arrestor and putting it in that way. The spark arrestor i feel takes away some top end so im trying other things to optimize.
@@bigc56b yes for sure for me it’s too snappy out of corners. But i feel like the PC packing doesn’t hold up as well as FMF packing. My PC probably has 10 hours on it and doesn’t sound near as loud and raspy or hit as hard on the crack of the throttle as it did when it was new.
I'd love half off on a Ti-6 full exhaust. You said privateers can get half off at the nationals ... I'm new to moto so am not sure what you mean by privateers?
@@granttaylorvlogs just at idle the dealer i bought it from is closed on sundays so im gonna give them a call tomorrow and ask whats up with it. I didnt even wanna crank it over again incase its something serious , as these bikes dont come with warranty.
@@nicksalerno5958 easy way to make sure your water pump is spinning. Take your radiator cap then start it. You should see the coolant moving in the radiator. If it is you should be fine. These bikes aren’t designed to idle for a long time.
I don't fully understand how the electronics work. But Jamie at Twisted Development told me that unless you're doing engine mods, ECU remap for pipes is not necessary neither is a pipe required for a ECU of course that's if the motor is stock.
For 250s it’s a huge difference. 450s I’d say its more to change the power delivery rather than to really make it faster. So it just depends on your application and what you’re trying to do.
@@granttaylorvlogs my 2021 450 is my first fuel injected bike. with just the exhaust being done do you think it would run fine? Im used to rejetting the carb to match the new exhaust/ opening up an air box.
