I purchased this NEW FOR 2022 LG soundbar setup a few weeks ago. This video is an unboxing, quick listen, and my thoughts. www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-9-1-5...
I just picked one up today. Sounded great in the store. Not sure if tv supports the ARC but the geek squad said they'd make it work . Can't wait to set it up. Update. Sounds absolutely phenomenal. Clear bass. Full sound. Well worth it.
Oregon represent! I got my LG S95QR on Thursday. It's really good and IMO, more immersive and better bass than my previous system Q950T. Since I've been testing the crap out of the system, I do have to say the Q950T dialog is a little louder at lower volumes compared to the S95QR, but at the 16-20 the overall dialog is the same and I feel like the S95QR is louder at the 20 mark. I've watched Ambulance, Ferrari vs Ford, Dune, The Batman, Blade Runner 2049, Godzilla vs Kong, and even Season 4 of Stranger Things sound better on the S95QR. The bass is hella nice and dialog is clear even through the action sequences. Love the system.
Im thinking I like this. Im currently running the LG SL9YG with the spk8 rear speakers and its a beast but I like the addition of the upfiring rear speakers with this setup.
I listen avenger infinity war on cinema mode at volume 27 on my LG S95QR. I have the impression that I blew up the center up firing speaker. At what level you think you can go before damaging the system?
@@brunostlaurent1282 wrong. Running an Xbox or PS5 with 4K/120Hz vrr allm and sending the sound as passthrough with eARC works seamlessly. If you connect your Xbox/PS5 to the Soundbar then you can only 4k60hz
@@miguelbetancourt5770 yeah my point was if you connect the ps5 or xbox in the soundbar you don’t get 120hz … only a few soundbars offer this feature tho …
Thanks for posting this. I have been thinking of getting the Sony hta7000 but with the sub and rear that will be like 2700 etc. I think for 1600, while still expensive, is much more reasonable. Your video helped me keep my wallet in check and I'll give this bar a try.
Glad could help! Hope you enjoy; this setup is fantastic! The only real downside is that there is no 4k 120 passthrough on hdmi 1 and 2 on the soundbar. Other than that it's a solid option out here.
I have the q900a with rears. It sounds amazing. But the cloth material on it is really annoying. Thanks for the review. Been waiting for someone to review it. I've seen the 95qr and the 90qy. The only thing for me, is it worth 600.00 for rears. Out of curiosity have listened to it without the rears Loving all those console set up. Only thing I don't like is that the soundbar covers part of the screen. I had to get me a tv stand with a mount to raise the tv, so the tv is not covered
TV is now mounted on the wall. The tears on this setup get suprising loud. They are not bass heavy or anything but the mid range and treble is definitely there.
Wonder how this will do. I heard the q990b in the store, music from apple music and movies.tv shows sucks now because they omitted Harmon kardon. I have the n950 and q90r Samsungs. Both sound better with music. But q990b has great Bass and atoms effect, record some small movie demo clips for us
It supports earc, but the soundbar doesnt have 4k/120 passthrough. So if you were to plug up your ps5 or series x to it you would get vrr and allm but NO 4K 120, just 4k 60.
Hello, quick question. Did you need to do anything else to set up the two rear speakers for the S95? I just wanted to make sure I have the solid green lights on and when a 4K is on it does display Dolby Atmos. I wasn't sure about the audio on the LG C1. I did turn the volume to level 3? for each speaker on the sound bar, is that right ? I played the new Ghostbusters and it was boom-in. Thank you for any feed back.
It took the rears a couple times to sync to the soundbar, but I felt like it was my fault somehow in the setup, as I was shamefully lazy, not taking a second to really check out the instructions fully. As for the volume levels you have to tweak each speaker to what you deem sounds good to you. Hope this helps.
Just bought this system today (arrives in a week) along with LG OLED65C2. Both were on sale and too good to pass up. Super excited to set up in the man cave for movies and gaming. Where should sub go, front or rear?
Congrats! Yeah this set up is pretty awesome. You will for sure enjoy. I don't have a preference for sub placement, maybe try both locations and see what sounds best for your setup. 👍🏽
@@Bdot888 Hello! So far I’ve been loving the C2. I actually went up to the 77” and I couldn’t be happier. I love watching all the available 4K content that I can get my hands (or eyes) on and it’s amazing for gaming on PS5. The soundbar is absolutely stunning as well. I love the sound that I’m immersed in whenever I’m downstairs watching/playing. Thanks for following up with me, I’ve been a bit neglectful with responses to question.
@@SD-up1ox Thats great to hear! I have the 48inch C2 bc i sit real close and overall everything looks great on it! I want to get a soundbar for it with at least 5.1 surround sound and im looking at all my options. I can imagine it feels like being in a movie theater but the comfort of your own home. This is my first ever oled tv and the contrast and blacks is so rich and the C2 was definitely a great purchase!
I just got mine yesterday! This is 100x better than the SN11RG. My previous system was the Q950T, which was a good system. I would say the S95QR dialog is just as good as the Q950T, but the S95QR is much more immersive and has better bass. I was able to experience IMAX Enhanced with Bad Boys, and it's definitely better than the usual DTS:X. I just wish their was more IMAX Enhanced 4k movies. Anyway, I highly recommend this system. It totally surprised how good this was.
Congratulations! Yeah it is a fantastic sounding setup. The ONLY downside was no 4k/120 passthrough, but other than that it is an Excellent option. Enjoy!
@@TheRokaphella is the 4k 120hz pass-through only needed if your connecting ps5 or Xbox to the soundbar? and what are the advantages of this over connecting ps5 to tv earc. Does gaming sound better when connected to the soundbar instead of tv? Edit: if playing games like call of duty and Fortnite is it better to connect to tv earc or soundbar with 4k/120 pass-through I’ve been looking at this lg soundbar and the Sony ht a7000 which has 4k/120 pass-through but it doesn’t support vrr or allm which is disappointing. so I’m not sure if it would be better to connect the ps5 to the Sony ht a7000 if I was to get it or just connect my ps5 to my lg g2 with earc to get the 120hz vrr and allm and I can just get the lg S95QR what do you recommend
Hey everyone, I got this and I have really mixed feelings. Atmos/true3d or whatever sound absolutely amazing. Older content like stereo or eac5.1 sound a bit tinny when I think they sounded decent on my old Vizio 5.1 I was using. Hooked up to the LG are you using sound mode control, and if so, like ai pro or just standard? Or any easier question, if you are happy with it, what settings are you using? :) I feel like I need a PhD now in tv setups to watch a movie now haha.
Hello Ken, may I please ask you how happy are you with your S95QR? I'm thinking whether go Sony (sound bar only) or LG S95QR. I will predominantly listen to music and watch movies on the projector. Thanks a mill for your input
@@michaelm8235 hey there. I ended up returning it and getting the Sony. I got the ht7000 with sw3 sub (bundle discount at bestbuy 149 for sub) and just got the rs5 rears? The more expensive ones. While I am not happy with the price because it was way out of budget, it is exactly what I wanted. Only thing I can recommend is buying either from a retailer where they have easy returns/exchanges. But to me the sound quality is night and day. Sony is done after tweaking to your liking, where as the LG would sound great in atmos movies but terrible in everything else and had to tweak etc. I hated it in games too, the rears were way too loud even at the lowest settings. The Sony sounds perfectly balanced in every scenario. Hope this helps!
@@kenhartos2454 I have a dilemma. I may not be able to afford rears if I was to go for Sony. With my primary objective being listening to the music. Having seen the two setups below, would you still pick Sony? 1) Sony HT-A7000 (EUR1,149) + Sony SA-SW3 (subwoofer 200W) (EUR411.99) or 2) LG S950QR (EUR1,454) any deeper thoughts?
@@michaelm8235 That's a tough one. I guess again, what's the return/exchange policy. That all being said, I was really moved by sound tracks in movies with the Sony, where as with the LG it felt like hey I know that song and didn't feel anything special. I'm sorry if that doesn't help but that's the only comparison I can think of. Are you able to hear them in a store?
@@kenhartos2454 Yeah it is a tough one indeed. In Ireland it might be hard to find a store which has two of these on display :( Ordering from amazon (Germany).
I dont get sounds from the rear speakers and subwoofer. Only the soundbar works. It’s set to HDMI (ARC) Device for the sound output in my LG C2 tv. Anyone know why?
Thanks for the video. Could you do other videos demonstrating the audio from the S95QR? I had the SN11RG and I was very disappointed and got the Samsung Q950T. The SN11RG had very poor dialog during action sequences. I first noticed it in the Apple tv+ movie, Greyhound, and other movies as well. I want to give the S95QR a chance, just don't want the same mistake.
S95qr is a solid soundbar setup. The sound, to me, was more than satisfactory for my use case. Once I started to look at bigger tv options, samsungs Q-Symphony feature caught my attention. Fast forward to 2 years later, now LG offers a version of Q-Symphony called wow orchestra. Samsung Q990c is better overall than the S95QR, and the Q990C has been a phenomenal experience a year later.
No 4k / 120 passthrough. Both ports HDMI 1 and 2 are hdmi 2.0. The port below those 2 is the earc port. Passthrough is not a gotta have, as it does have ALLM and VRR, but at $1600... I think it should have been included.
@@TheRokaphella Thanks for the info!!! Looking into this product to upgrade this year. Yeah, I find it very strange that it offers VRR and ALL but not 120 pass-through .
@@adonis2116 Interesting. In the setting in the tv the e-arc option is on, but on the sound bar says on the front arc and not e-arc It’s just semantic or there is difference do u think ?
@@nirohayon8228 @Nir Ohayon You also have to enable eARC and then put the digital sound out on passthrough, after that the display on the soundbar will show you eARC. The standard PCM doesn‘t support eARC. You can find both at the additional settings in the sound menu of the CX. Without eARC you won‘t be able to play the full band with and new audio codecs like Dolby Atmos. So you should definetly get it right after buying such an expansive sound setting… Also your sound Test honestly doesn‘t show dolby Atmos at all, youtube only supports stero lines, at best the soundbar will only virtually simulate the surround setting.
Thing to notice about 4k 120hz passthrough: "Starting in early May, LG will roll out a firmware update to bring 2023 features such as 4K 120Hz passthrough and 'Wow Orchestra' to 2022 soundbars such as S80QY, S90QY and S95QR."
@@TheRokaphella hi my small speakers are connected to the sound bar with a solid green light but for some reason they don’t work when connected to tv but they do work when connected to phone. And suggestions?
ive bought this bar along with the LG G2 tv. my impressions so far are that there just is not enough bass from this system. Also I was sold on the tv sound mode share that is supposed to use the TV's processor to optimize sound. So far it seems to mostly just cancel out the rear speakers and increase the volume on the tv speakers. I find the sound better when i turn off the sound mode share off all together. My last gripe when watching older movies, I either can have crystal clear dialogue or great surround sound effects and terrible dialogue. If anyone has ideas to fix I'd appreciate it, otherwise this sound bar is going back
Same! I was going to go with this over the Sonos setup. LG C2 + these new LG speakers seems to pair well but I play a lot of games and the lack of 4K 120hz passthrough is huge. The biggest selling point to me was the pass through. Otherwise it’s not that much different than any other high end speaker imo. Shame cause I really wanted to get it.
@@wingsuitzero the Sony HT-A7000 with SW5 Subwoofer and RS5 surround sound may be worth a check out by you because it has 4k 120Hz pass through but do check the specs before purchase, Smithers way is to connect your game console to the TV and then eARC the sound to a sound bar?
no it is just right! lol. i am all for having the capacity for ample loudness and being able to turn it down, rather than having something that makes me wish it was more potent
The 2 hdmi ports on the back the soundbar, you can connect a gaming system, blu ray player, etc...and it will play video and sound from those ports. The 2 ports have vrr and allm but dont support true hdmi 2.1 which allows for 4k resolution at 120 frames per second. The 2 ports only support 4k at 60 with vrr and allm, which is awesome, just not full hdmi spec.
Damn your setup looks like mine except my tv is bigger other than that the same 🤣🤣 I don't even know why I got the PS5 I don't even use it. My son plays it way more than me. 🤷
@@VesaJay all 3 make great tvs. Since I needed a bigger bright room tv, it was between the Sony x95k and the samsung qn900b. I already have the lg oled.🤷🏽♂️
@@spiderman3950 If I’m honest when I first heard the audio I said “oh dear! That doesn’t sound good!” But I’m still sticking to what I said we can’t possibly judge anything based on videos we watch on RU-vid. Even some of the HD videos or professionally recorded audio. I agree it LG doesn’t sound good but I’d be surprised if it sounds anything like that in real life. I am dying to see a comparison video between this and Samsungs HW-Q990B. Samsung apparently sounds awesome but it doesn’t have VRR support or 4k 120hz. Where as LG does.
@@almusti yeah I'm gonna pay 1700 euros for some stupid VRR feature. The main thing is sound quality, that's what you pay for. You want VRR buy a better TV, because TV speakers are better than LG Soundbar speakers!
