2022 Mercedes-AMG EQS - Driving The 751hp Luxury EV (POV Binaural Audio) 

This is one of those cars where the manufacturer stuffs it with power and therefore thinks it should have a performance badge on it. Handling is not considered, it’s just the numbers which will sell quite a few people. Brands like Maserati and Jaguar are suffering some what from this. Great video as always, i am absolutely loving these type reviews

It's crazy to think that this has about the same amount of torque as an SL65 AMG Black Series. BUT it has instant torque AND four doors! But come on, if you are into going fast you'd choose the SL. And I would too. Even just doddling around town in that SL is a thrilling experience because you feel like you are piloting a nuclear missile! The sound, the torque and those wide hips and that monstrous V12 Bi-Turbo. 😩

i had the fortunate opportunity of driving my uncles eqs 450 a few months back and Tedward put it perfectly; "sublime" it aint perfect, but for comfy driving and decent EV acceleration, this thing's damn good. ...if you ignore all the subscriptions for it lol

I did the experience in Newton, that regen braking was such a weird feeling; its almost like the brakes are locking up but they are not. I hate the shifter lever but the drive was so beyond smooth! IMO these Sedans wont sell but the Mercedes SUV EV was just perfect.

These auto manufacturers really need to bite the bullet and make some supply chain changes for their chips. I work at a semiconductor fab in the US and we have had a massive “slow down” in the last year, there simply aren’t as many orders coming in anymore from our current customers due to increased inventory and decreased sales on their end. We make SOME auto chips already, and are currently making equipment changes to produce more auto chips with GaN specifically for EV’s & batteries. But we have the capacity to do way way more at the moment. It’s just so weird to work in a place that makes chips and be operating at way under capacity, then hear about all these chip shortages and how nobody can get their hands on chips. But it’s because they’ve been having their chips made in Ukraine and Taiwan. Crazy times.

The way the speedometer rises that quickly is insane

I saw one of these at Loveland Mercedes when I was getting my Sprinter serviced. It was "just" the regular EQS, but wow. Quite impressive, although the giant, full-width electronic dashboard seemed a bit too much. Nice looking car IMHO.

IIRC, you can massage HP numbers to some degree. Torque is a mathematical certainty. All the torque being useable from the jump will cause whiplash in a powerful enough engine.

Really hard to get excited about the future of cars when OEMs are pumping out stuff like this. Add to that the nonsense with subscriptions (MB is charging monthly fees for increased HP and increased degrees of Rear Steer...) and the EV future seems increasingly bleak

This thing looks like an electrical nightmare.....I miss the old days when Mercedes built well made tanks that lasted 20+ years. Now it's just a bunch of overpriced disposable appliances, this fits right in.

The flashing lights above the speedo would drive me crazy after 5 mins. Great video of a rocket appliance. AMG badge worthy? Debatable but this things hauls some serious ass. However handling and braking seems to pull it down a bit.

You dont get it. Sure its not comfy as an S-Class, because you drove an AMG version; also an S63 AMG is not as comfy as an S-Class, but thats also not its puropose. Its also not an Taycan competitor - the Taycan competitor is the EQE (53AMG). The EQS is the most luxurious and spacious EV with the most advanced tech. The 53 AMG is also all of that, but a little sharper and sportier, like it should be if you take an AMG. Where the S-Class is more of a chaeufeur car, where you drive in the back, the EQS is more of a driver car. The design is very futuristic, sleak and wide with an almost coupe line roof, so it almost looks like an longer CL with 4 doors. The interior is one of its kind, no other car has such a futuristic cockpit (specially with the hyperscreen), such a crazy ambient light options, such nice materials everywhere - even an bmw i7 cant hold to it. Then there are the far best working assitant gadgets and autonome driving skills. Also the dynamic is more then cool for such a big and heavy car. Because of the batteries, the car almost dont leans in cornes. I think that the EQS is an absolute superb car, a true allrounder. You can take him to business meetings, to the golf club, you can take your family to vacation, you can (because its a 5 door) take even your dog and go into the mountains (becuase of the airmatic which can rise in 3 levels) or skiing (because it has 4matic). So the perfect modern, electric S-Class. For those who dont like EV's will take the classical S-Class (W223).
