Successor to the rarified hardcore Mini GP2 and original Cooper Works GP, the new Mini GP (GP3) is an extreme hot hatch. Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, it produces 302bhp to match its flamboyant carbon fibre bodywork. A 0-62mph sprint takes just 5.2 seconds with this Mini achieving a top speed of 164mph.
Certainly, it's an exciting thing to drive, but this new Mini does have its issues. It struggles to put down its notable power. It's a raw experience that requires a firm hand, but also a rare one with just 575 examples coming to the UK.

For reference, that transmission is brilliant for that machine. Downshifting can be swiftly accomplished by simply bumping the throttle. Bumping twice will even downshift two gears if it's within parameters. This is especially precise when in sport mode and GP mode. This is great for engine braking into a corner or down a hill. Additionally if you bump the throttle to downshift it will not upshift until you apply throttle again. #2974

Great little car, I myself have a 2019 Manual JCW and looove it - still think the GP3 should've came with manual option too.

I owned a 2017 JCW and now a GP3. Trust me, a manual on the road is deadly in this car… I do miss a manual on track a touch but as fwd car with 300bhp + aggressive diff and camber, you’d be in a wall with a manual, they’re so fast. Even as an auto it likes to change lanes under harsh acceleration. Finds every little crown and undulation in the road

@@markfoster3155 you’re spot-on mate, no one would ever drive that car and think it needs a manual, it’s a total impossibility to overtake without two hands on the wheel in the beast lol Or the Angry Mule as one motoring journalist called it. 😂 I own #0565 btw .👍🏼
