I've had 6 Maximas including my current 2019 Black SR and let me tell you...if Nissan made an all wheel drive and changed the trans they'd never have to think about discontinuing it.

They already do. It's called the Infinity Q50. Most car makers are careful not to let their lower brands try to compete with their upper brands. So you will always see features on the upper brands that they won't include on the lower brands. The Q series is also available with rwd.

@@danc1197 The Q50 isn't a sports sedan like the Maxima is. It's marketed as a luxury sedan. There really isn't comparison. I agree with the fact that if Nissan wants to continue selling Maxima, offer an AWD option and upgrade the engine and continuing calling it a sports sedan.

@@marcusarelius Q50 is more of a sports sedan than Maxima. Q50 handles better, 7 speed, rwd option, red sport variant ...I don't need to explain any further

I would love this if equipped with a 9 speed automatic and 310HP. After owning a 1993,2002,2005 I couldn't live without an automatic transmission. When everything went south with my 2004 I ended up moving up to Infiniti and on my 2nd one. Overall the design of this generation screams sexy to the 10th power........

Why Oh Why Nissan continue using the CVT? I can see where you would use it on the Altima, but the Maxima is supposed to be a step above. This alone is a deal killer for me.

The CVT on the Maxima is the V6 model. No unusual problems reported with those.

True but if you're going to get a car with a CVT, at least the one in the Maxima is somewhat reliable and durable due to much larger cooling capacity that the Altima lacks... which is why so many Altimas have CVT issues.

I had a 2012 maxima and I actually preferred the CVT. why simulate it? just roll with the CVT, it's fine.

I agree. I've had a 2003 Maxima, and currently have a 2013. I just don't get all the CVT hate. It's fine in my opinion.

Theyre very easy to drain and fill 4qts of cvt fluid every 30k miles yourself. I went Valvoline and Amsoil synthetic got my Altima to 208k and my current Max to 121k right now.

Basically I want a performance family sedan. The Maxima is nearly there. The teardrop shape in the front end is showing it's age. The Maxima needs a rework a la Pathfinder - square out the front corners, add more interior room especially in the back seat, and put that 9-speed transmission in.

Man I want to see someone mod this thing so it has a DCT, AWD, and a turbo or charger to pull 400+ hp. Or maybe instead of AWD from the V6, some electric motors could be added to the back to give 1 to 200 more horses. I know it would interfere with the spare storage, but that space would probably be perfect.

I feel like the front of this car doesn’t look as mean, in fact it gives me 2018 sentra vibes. Mean while the new sentra looks leaner than this car but definitely has no power.

I've got a 2017 Altima Midnight Edition. Been thinking about trading up to a Maxima. Anybody on why I should/shouldn't? I LOVE my Altima (bought it new, just hit 19,500 miles)...It seems like a slightly bigger version of the Altima with a few extras. Any thoughts? Thanks!

300 hp on a front wheel drive car is more than adequate. CVT take off from stop lights feels airplane smooth, especially on my Rogue prior to current Maxima.

love the looks, but i know 3 people in nissan hell. No way would I own one of them out of warranty. One person's 2018 rouge throws up code after code, the dealership can't figure out whats wrong with it and they won't take it in as a trade lol. Their own vehicle.

Tell him to buy a computer off eBay for $40, clear the car’s error codes and them promptly trade it in at another dealership. A 2018 vehicle shouldn’t be shitting the bed

Question I have a 2019 s maxima. The power steering has a high pitch buzz that changes pitch when turning the wheel. It’s only noticeable in parking lots. I’ve taken it to 3 separate places that all say it’s completely normal and don’t worry about it. But doesn’t that mean the power steering is going bad? I’ve even seen a video on RU-vid of a guy with his hood open and I hear the same sound as mine. Is it normal on these or do they just not want to work on it?

They definitely don't want to work on it. They just want to change oil. Call corporate and start a complaint on the dealership.

Nissan uses electric motor driven hydraulic power assisted steering. Toyota eliminated the hydraulic part and mounted the motor and servo directly to the rack. Nissan used the most breakage-prone components and complicated designs that are annoying and expensive to fix. And with labor costs I'd avoid any CVT car or any vehicle I can't physically put my hand on the starter motor. But Nissan seats and engines are top grade. Too bad the rest of the car is a nightmare

Nissans have the worst seats in the industry. Usually within about 15-20 minutes my back starts to kill me. Not to mention Nissans have crappy CVT transmissions that burn out early. Never buy one.

Man I really want to like this car but that transmission needs to go! A CVT doesn't belong in a "sport sedan". I was hoping the transmission from the new Pathfinder would've been used for their "sport sedan"
