Your review of both cars is spot on. We went to the dealership with the intention of buying the Pathfinder, but ended up getting the QX60. We test drove the Pathfinder first and did not like the handling that much. But then the sales guy said that we should give the QX60 a try since they just had one delivered (only one on the lot), and our decision was made after that. The Pathfinder felt very much like a big SUV with so-so handling, whereas the QX60 felt like we were driving a much smaller, nimbler and more comfortable car, even though they are the same size. To us, the driving experience and quality of the QX60 was worth the difference in price.
Thanks for sharing Jason Lin. Honestly we had the same experience as you did, except we went to the dealership looking to buy another Murano platinum but my heart was somewhat set on the Infiniti until the salesperson said try the Qx60. Boy ,it’s just like you said it word for word. Thanks
@@bfee20021 did you never have a typo? Obviously people understood what I meant. All I wanted to point out is that Infiniti is with an “I” and not a “Y”. It wasn’t a personal attack on anyone, calm down.
I really was thinking about the QX60... but were I live, the full option version costs around 27.000 $ more than the full option pathdfinder.... and this is for me a clear no go !
I drove both the pathfinder platinum and the qx60 luxury, for me the pathfinder is the clear choice as I can not justify spending 15k extra for the infiniti badge. The pathfinder handles and drives just as good as the infiniti in my opinion. The infiniti is smoother and looks a little more luxurious. I prefer the rugged look of the pathfinder and it looks to be more capable in harsh conditions. The pathfinder is the best car for the money on the road right now and the platinum is literally the perfect car for anyone in the market for a midsized 3 row suv.
I decided to get the Pathfinder Platinum after doing a test drive. It was bit wallowy (has some noticeable body role) however it stayed planted on corners and sharp turns. I thought it will lean further on turns but surprisingly it remained planted. It has a 20-30% truckish feel, I know it's not a body on frame but still has truck DNA. Anyways, I could not get a good lease deal in my area and most dealers already sold the Platinum and had good deals for SL trim only. With that said, it was easier for me to get a deal on the Infintit Qx60 Luxe with vision package (same options/features as Pathfinder Platinum). I ended leasing the QX60 for almost the same price as the Pathfinder platinum which was in high demand while the QX 60 was available everywhere. QX60 ride is definitely better and more luxurious and controlled with less body role. When you go to Infiniti dealership you are treated differently, its a luxury brand, dealerships are similar to Lexus and it has 3 years maintenance & service included from Infinity.
If you put premium fuel in the Pathfinder the HP of the engine goes up to match the Infinity. The reason is the engine's management system allows for more advanced timing advance for the engine ignition operation, and thus the greater power output. Put premium in the Pathfinder and you will see the difference when accelerating. I had a 2016 Murano with the 3.5 and CVT. I was running it on premium fuel from the time I bought it. The difference in performance showed right away. I kept it till Sept 2021 when I bought the Pathfinder Platinum. I prefer how the Pathfinder drives with its 9 speed transmission. The Murano was more of a sporty handling. I am not an aggressive driver. The Pathfinder worked out more perfect for my way of driving and lifestyle. The base platform of both types of vehicles are very much the same. The Pathfinder suspension is beefed up a bit more, and raised a bit more for off road driving. My impression with the Infinity is you are paying a bit more for the more elaborate trims and a few extra features such as seat message and a slightly larger main screen. I have not compared the sound systems myself, but I know they are both Bose systems, and use the same type of amplifier and speaker technology. I am wondering if the Infinity sound system seems to sound better because of the interior design differences changing the acoustics of the vehicle.
This makes no sense, as the 3.5 in the Murano is not tuned for, nor will benefit from, midgrade or premium fuel. There are absolutely no benefits to running premium in that car whatsoever. No added HP, no knock reduction (it doesn't knock on 87 at all), nothing. I've owned a 2015 Murano for 8 years now.
I totally disagree, they screen is much bigger in the Infiniti and very high resolution. The pathfinder screen is very small and low res. 360 Cameras and other images are pixilated. Also it feels like a truck, the QX60 has a totally different suspension. When you go to dealership, its totally different experience than Nissan.
As far as looks, I like the Infinity is better. But is it worth the increase cost? I haven't driven either, but would assume that the Infinity has a more polished ride. Something I would like to know is what is the resale value after 5 or 10 years? What are dealerships selling both models for? Are the selling for MSRP or more than MSRP? Right now. I am just trying to get as much infrormation on models the I am interested in. And waiting for the market and supply of vehicles to get better.
That’s probably true. I almost bought the pathfinder, but did you try the INFINITI. If you drove it for a couple of days you wouldn’t care about saving the $13K. The drive with the extra power and the suspension is much better, the handling is so much better. For me it drives like a big sports car. Someone said the same thing before I got the QX60.
Both of these vehicles are riding on the same platform, built on the same assembly line in Smyrna,Tennessee. What is the difference in the suspension that makes ride quality change?
One is a little nicer than the other that’s the only difference just like Toyota and Lexus just like Chevy and GMC just like Honda and Acura I can keep going
The OX looks nicer but more expensive would get the Pathfinder cheaper same cousins love the Pathfinder more although loved Infiniti since was 8 years ago when saw a J30 at grocery store many many years ago back in the mid 90s, still its Pathfinder all day for me.
In rough math (I stink at math) that turns out to be about $10 a day on a 72 month term. The upgrade from the Pathfinder to the QX60 is definitely worth $10 a day when we have to spend so much time in our vehicles nowadays. I deliver (not a sales person) new Infiniti’s to customers and on a long delivery that can be sometimes 700 miles I would 100% rather be in a QX60. I would choose the QX60 over the Acura and the Lexus too. The interior on the Autograph trim is a super plush place to spend time.
thanks so much for the insight $10 a day doesnt not seem that bad but there is many other things to consider. Cost of ownership over all using premium fuel, insurance cost of maintenance etc
@@carsunlocked Great points, issues I have myself. In order counteract the premium fuel issue I put it in eco and kind of sort of but not really granny it and I can return around 35mpg on the interstate. If you truly granny it you can get way better. For servicing the vehicle just take it to Nissan, the hourly is cheaper and it’s the same parts, mostly. There is a Nissan dealership next to my Infiniti store and the Nissan store will walk next door to Infiniti and get the part and put it on cheaper. The resell value of the QX60 will be much better over the Pathfinder, while it costs a lot to play at first the overall at the end of ownership won’t be that bad considering how much better the QX60 is in day to day use. I find the QX60 a very tranquil place to be especially the Autograph trim. The Pathfinder is just another vehicle. I will concede that $10 a day is a lot of money over 72 month term but if I had the option to instantly upgrade my Pathfinder to a QX60 when I leave the house in the morning I’m paying $10 a day. Hell just quit smoking or going to Starbucks and it’s covered.
My opinions are probably uncommon, but I’ll say a few things. First, I liked sun/moonroofs when they were only above the front seats. Now most of them are “panoramic.” I’d rather not have more than half of my roof made of glass. Interesting that every QX60 trim has a panoramic roof. Second, speedometers should always be centered with the steering wheel. That way I can check my speed with a split second glance straight down, without having to look slightly left or right. I wish the digital speedometer in all of these vehicles could be centered. It is in the Pathfinder sub-Platinum trims. The premium fuel requirement of the QX60 is a non-starter for me. I won’t buy a vehicle with that requirement. Pathfinder is still on my list though.
For me it's the Pathfinder. I prefer the rugged looks and much lower price. For an MSRP of the upper $60k, that's getting into Toyota Sequoia range and I'd much rather spend a bit more to get a Sequoia than a QX60.
It would be interesting to see a Pathfinder Platinum compared to a QX60 Sensory which is the second highest trim of the QX60 & is the highest trim you can get with a bench
I traded my 2014 murano for a 2022 pathfinder platium great move looked at the qx60 2022 2022 pathfinder was the better choice platium pathfinder feels luxo as well if that's what you want 2022 pathfinder platium meets my family needs Pathfinder ROCKS!!!
As long it has the foot trunk activation buy both. Hands free foot trunk activation is the modern way to open a trunk. Not key fob nor push. Using your foot without using your hands to open trunk
This reminds me a lot of when we got the Pathfinder/ QX4 from the late 90s/ early 2000s. Of course not as rugged, and surely not as reliable (long term).
The QX60 and Pathfinder are pretty much the same vehicle, the difference is the price you pay. If you want to spend more money, get the infinity, if you want to save some money, get the Pathfinder. The Pathfinder is also more masculine and rugged than the infinity QX60.
I drove them both back to back, and the Infiniti was a significant difference in ride and quality. I picked up the Sensory model, one step down from the Autograph and got it for $4k under MSRP . So, at $59k (with the $4k off), it was not much different from the $55k Pathfinder. For a difference of $4k between the 2, no contest win, and our QX60 is happily parked in our garage.
Same engine and transmission. Use premium fuel in the pathfinder and now you have the same horsepower. It’s a sale tactic to make you feel better about spending 13k more.
I am watching the comparison review right now on u tube, u say that the Infinity has second row ac seats. Is that accurate? I know they do have heated second row seats but not aware of second row ventilated or ac seats. Please clarify
Run your Pathfinder on premium fuel. After your vehicle is running purely on premium fuel you will have the additional response and torque as like the Infinity. I did the same with my former Murano which was also a very good vehicle. I have my Pathfinder Platinum 4WD since September. Love it! Great SUV!
@@jerryg50 yea so the rock creek edition pathfinder they say if you use premium you get the extra hp of the infiniti from 284 to 295 but thru just ecu stuff so I wonder of they really delete that thru ecu tuning if you pit premium in a regular pathfinder will it give you the extra hp or do u need the rock creek edition for the ecu to unlock the extra hp!?
QX60 at $5k to $10K more is a hard sell, it's not considered a true luxury brand, even Kia is nicer...Nissan is way better value. There just isn't a compelling reason to buy the Qx60, it's good looking sure, longer warranty sure, but it's not as well equipped for the same money as Pathfinder, marginally better audio and drive isn't going to sell it. I've been to several OC based Infiniti dealers, not many customers....Nissan dealer is not busy because the past few years their cars are underwhelming to say the least, with new Z and Airya and PF its gonna be busy....
The QX would've been the nicer pick for the price if it offered more than just one engine to further separate it from the Pathfinder. And I'm pretty sure the Pathfinder outperforms the QX even with the shared engine and transmission. But for goodness sake Nissan, please use LEDs for your interior dome lights especially for Infiniti! The Palisade makes a stronger luxury proposition than the QX even as it competes with the Pathfinder. And for 2023 offers heated 3rd row seats! The QX disappointingly doesn't even have ventilated 2nd row seats. Doing just enough is no longer good enough if Infiniti wants to continue their turnaround.
