Video failed to highlight the strengths of each vehicle during comparison... Not only that but Every other qx60 trim level besides the one in the video Does offer a full 2nd row seat and the 2nd row engineering is far above the competition The doors open wider, the seats fold with carseats installed which is very innovative and very, very practical...along with 2 release buttons for easy in/out of the 3rd row through that wide opening and since the middle console is removable, you can also exit from the 3rd row through the middle when console is removed. So...indeed the qx60 is a 7 passenger luxury suv and can be a luxury 6 passenger as well.

After testing both, we ended up buying the MDX. The exterior of the QX60 is definitely more luxurious, which is the reason why we were initially set on getting it.. Even though the interior seemed to have the look of an older person, like that Cadillac feeling, which I wasn't crazy about, it still looked upscale enough that it wasn't a deal breaker. The MDX had a beautiful interior, and while its body style was not as luxurious as the QX60, it was sporty enough and youthful looking to make it a player. Why did we end up picking the MDX? Simply put, it was the feeling we got behind the wheel. The MDX hugged us, giving that cockpit sensation, and it drove more like a sedan than a SUV. My wife, who was initially concerned by its size, was immediately converted on how comfortable and nimble it was. The vehicle didn't turn around you while driving, it was as if you and the MDX were one negotiating a turn. Both are good vehicles. It really boils down to what fits your needs and spirit the best. So we sacrificed a more luxurious exterior look to have that driving experience that appealed to us. I think of it like this...the Porsche Cayenne lacks a luxurious exterior, but that doesn't stop it from being an upscale SUV. The MDX is an amalgamation of QX60 and a Cayenne, not excelling at either end of the spectrum but satisfying enough that we don't regret our choice one bit....and the touchpad is a breeze. While Acura should have made it have dual function for those who need to lean forward and touch the screen, I found it more comfortable leaning back and using the touchpad to navigate. We are happy MDX owners.

How do you find the fuel economy after a year of ownership? City vs hwy mpg/l/100 km. Cheers
@s.patterson5698
@s.patterson5698 6 месяцев назад
@robertduklus6555 Driving dynamics still great. Comfort still a pleasure and I absolutely prefer using the trackpad over the touchscreen I have in my sedan. Definitely find that it is a safer driving experience as I am ablecto have my eyes on the road instead of having my eyes focused on where my finger is touching on the screen. The mpg as expected is garbage. Acura advertises city to be 19mpg. That is not even close to real world. I am getting between 15-17mpg in the city. Highway mpg was acutally a surprise. I was expecting around 23-25mpg for the highway, but I took a couple road trips, one about 1,100 miles and the other 300 miles. I averaged 27.5mpg. At one point I was averaging 28mpg and I couldn't believe it, so I took out my phone and snagged a picture in case I was daydreaming. So after a year, would I buy it again? In a heartbeat. It meets my needs. I enjoy the cockpit feel behind the wheel, and the clean exterior design lines speak to me. Having said that, the MDX is not for someone concerned about gas prices and it being their only vehicle, especially if their driving is predominantly in the city.

My wife and I test drove a MDX Tech and a QX60 Sensory yesterday. No clear winner in my mind. The MDX was more nimble while the QX60 seems to ride higher and be a bit more truck-like. My wife actually prefers the QX60 for this reason. Styling goes to the QX60 but I preferred the drive modes and the wireless phone charger in the MDX. I also prefer the back seat in the MDX (unless youre getting captains chairs). The touch pad is awkward in the MDX. I found it hard to be precise with selections with some screens that have smaller buttons. I could see getting used to it but not using it while driving. We are going with the QX60

We went with QX60 Sensory AWD as well. Although MDX may have noticeable driving dynamics, the interior and exterior style pf QX60 is better and more classy. The 3rd row also has AC vents which is missing in the MDX. The infotainment on QX60 is very easy to use. The touchpad is hard to use when using CarPlay. The materials feel and look nicer on QX60. The MDX drives heavy while the QX60 drives very quiet and refined. Plus all other features that you won’t find on the MDX unless you get the Type-S. Like massaging seats and heads up display. The QX60 also has smart rear view mirror which is pretty cool! We love the QX60.

The QX60 needs fog lights and rear exhaust. The rear exhaust looks cheesy,cheap and unfinished. Fix those and its a winner.

I absolutely 100% agree with you both, MDX is better in every way, except that touch pad screen, all Acura has to do is move the screen few inches forward towards the driver, and offers a touch screen, so that you have both controls depends on what you prefer, that’s not hard to do, MDX is already a best selling luxury 3 row SUV, this change will make the MDX even more appealing. But unfortunately, to me, not having touch screen alone is a deal breaker itself no matter how good it is.

If you are just testing out the Acura, you will never get use to its True Touch pad. After a couple of weeks I got used to it and I find it logical. I have never had the urge to touch the screen because the trackpad is good (coming from '16 MDX and '16 Civic). Its not perfect (I wish the swipe function is same to an iphone swipe) but its usable. The annoying part is when I use the Apple Carplay. The touch function changes to a laptop-touchpad like function... without the an Arrow cursor on the display, so you are guessing where the selection will jump next and kinda similar to Lexus' troublesome trackpad.... which they fixed by removing it on newer car models. Adding an auto-hide arrow cursor might be a fix. I wish CarPlay in the future will allow the TrueTouch pad to function in its app.

I think the principal behind it is that you're not supposed to be fiddle fucking around while driving anyway. So, people complaining about it's distracting while driving .... Well, ya. Everything is distracting while driving. I wish it was a touchscreen, but it doesn't bother me as much as most people.
@tejasmurali9986
@tejasmurali9986 2 года назад
Agreed A touchscreen would be nice, nobody's denying that! But honestly the touchpad isn't awful as they said. It's decently intuitive and easy to get used to (firsthand experience)
@blackwhirlwind1245
@blackwhirlwind1245 2 года назад
@@tejasmurali9986 it’s still better to offer both touch screen and touch pad, it’s not hard for Acura to do that, i think I might get used to the touch pad, but Apple CarPlay is another thing, it uses different controls, it works very different than Acura system, which isn’t intuitive and it’s so much easier to use touch screen function on Apple CarPlay, I mean, Apple CarPlay itself is designed to be used with touch screen in the first place.
