I have chronic lower back pain, and the seating in the Nissans is the best I've found in this price range. I recently went from a '16 Sentra SV to a '22 Sentra SR. I have zero regrets.
Yeah, as someone who leased a 2014 and 2019 Sentra, I definitely noticed the improved look of the 2022. I didn’t think the others looked bad but the new models are very sporty. Almost like a 2010s BMW 3 series.
I just bought the Sentra SV yesterday. It drives very well. After seeing your comparisons I definitely believe I made the right choice. It's also more attractive than those others.
Did you buy it brand new? If yes, do your 5k mile oil changes and 30k mile CVT fluid changes. If not, depending on the mileage, you could do your CVT fluid ASAP. like before you hit 60k or 30k miles. Take care of that nice vehicle 👍
@joseCalderon1976 I just got a '22 SR and the dealer offered an oil change package that will save me at least $400 on my oil changes over the next 35k miles
I’ve had my Nissan Altima since 2010 with 120k miles. Thank the lord for no issues just regular maintenance . If you take care of your car it will Take care of you!
@@flyboii124 106k in 2-3 years? I don’t think that’s taking care of it. My Lexus is barely 180k in near 22 years and I drive it across town for work almost everyday
I know people that have long term success with the Nissan CVT. Why? Because they take care of their vehicle and change the CVT fluid after 30k miles religiously. And they also do 5k mile oil changes religiously too. And they don't listen to the nonsense that it's a "sealed transmission". That's a bunch of BS. Even if the manufacturer says that , it's still a bunch of BS. I also take care of my vehicles and they easily last 200k plus miles indeed. Good review 👍. Also, if you are going to buy a used Sentra, make sure that it has a good service record (with documentation to prove it) like the one I mentioned (30k transmission service and 5k mile oil changes). Or buy one with 30k miles or less, nut with a good service record 👍
Love the hatchback Honda civic, gas return for Elantra, but the Sentra’s price, gas, and design is a great price plus with color options and two tone roof options.
I’m just not a fan of the look of the new corolla’s and the civic is definitely close, but for what I’d want in either car I think it is too much compared to the Sentra. So the Sentra is still the choice for me
I think you are spot on here. Definitely better than the Korean choice's. I have heard the JATCO CVTs are getting better. The Corolla is just a little to small. The Mazda is a fantastic option but again that back seat area is tiny plus it's sports a torsion beam. That leaves the Civic. Probably the best all around pick even though it also utilizes a CVT. I'm glad they all exist. Competition drives manufacturers to produce better automobiles.
Reliability and guaranteed customer service: corolla or civic. Looks: sentra. power: mazda, and honda depending on model. Price: corolla base model. To save some time lol
I've worked at both Toyota and Nissan dealerships, and yes, Nissan has had its issues with their CVTs, but the shear number of recalls Toyota had was almost as bad as what I saw when I worked at a Ford dealership. As it was though, Nissan did extend coverage on their CVT unit in acknowledgement of their problems. Since they remain committed to using a CVT, I suspect they are also determined to resolve their issues with them as well. BTW, I've heard Subaru has issues with their CVTs too.
I love my 2017 Nissan Sentra S with a 6 speed manual transmission stick shift. Super low mileage and no issues. Every time I buy a Nissan I prefer a manual transmission stick shift. Those are the ones that last a long time. I bought my Sentra with 40k below market value. I'm the 2nd owner. Person who had the vehicle before me barely driven it. I feel like it's a brand new Nissan Sentra to me. 14k when I bought it. Gave $13k for my Sentra. My payments are super cheap of under $200 a month.
I like so much I do have a Sentra sr and I agree comfort mpg and style key for me and saving a few bucks my very first brand new car and I purchased at sixty eight years old. Love it!
Thank you for continuing to share the safety information about the Hyundai/Kia engines. After watching the Marketplace episode, I have been concerned for some family and friends with Hyundai vehicles. It's also what kept us from looking seriously at the new Tucson and Sante Fe hybrids (also wanted to avoid the turbos). I wish more reviewers would remind their viewers about the engine issue when reviewing new Hyundais and Kias.
My 2015 Kia Forte has been a fantastic vehicle, with 130K miles on the original engine and transmission. The majority of people who own Kias and Hyundais who have had engine problems have severely neglected their vehicles.
I just bought a Civic. For me, 1.Civic 2.Sentra 3.Corolla 4.Mazda3. I got a steal on the Civic (12% off msrp) so I couldn’t say no. I really wanted a hatchback so I paid a little extra for that.
Own the mazda 3 2023 sedan fwd, carbon edition. Your Mazda 3 review sold me on my purchase. Has all the active safety, adaptive cruise, heated front seats etc. Great value. 6 speed Auto, n/a engine with 191 hp comes standard with 12 speaker Bose. Great review on the Sentra and good camparison to the other compacts features and pricing.🙂👍
I have seen these new Sentras FLYING on the freeway and my wife had a rental one, stepped on the gas when I took it for a test drive and the thing took off so maybe you people whining just CAN'T drive....
I just traded up from a '16 Sentra to a '22. My back loves Nissan seats. My 16 had 91k miles and the transmission was as smooth and reliable as it was at 30k miles when I bought it
I have a 16 Sentra and I can say the interior is laid out very nicely. There's nothing that gives the feeling of cheap flimsy materials. It's by no means going to be mistaken for a luxury vehicle but it's nice for what it is
I chose the 2022 Sentra over the other 3 . I’ve had Corollas before and their body style is too straight , no sexy curves like the Sentra . I don’t want a hybrid or a hatch back so again I chose the Sentra . The safety features have already helped me prevent two accidents with its early warning system. I love the Nissan connect app it gives me gps on display and warns of accidents ahead on the roadway . Nice product Nissan !
Hi, I'm thinking of getting the 2023 sentra S, but so many ppl keep saying there's gonna be small issues with the engine and screem. Did any of you happen to yours?
just got my 2024 Nissan Sentra Sr everything is great don't do much highway so the power is more then enough and the milage is incredible and The look of the the white with black roof is a killer
I just bought a Sentra SV for my daughter. And got a great deal with no market adjustment like ima Honda or Kia dealership. Hope it lasts a couple years 😅
Just bought a new Nissan Sentra SR w/Premium Package. We didn't like the Corolla although it did have better reliability rating and performance. My wife didn't like the Civic and we didn't look at the Mazda3.
I dont understand fake/deceptive words that car salesmen or politicians use like "aggressive pricing". Can you just say cheaper or lower price point in the future?
A manual sentra is an attractive proposition. It has a better interior and ride quality than the corolla and more attractive styling in my opinion. Very pleasant car to drive with adequate power.
@@tezh5897 agreed, not this years though…. They fixed it, they all use it, civic Corolla Elantra etc etc …. I drive stunning Sentra, no problem, amazing ride
I had a 2015 for 5 years ..no issues at all, then I,bought a brand new one back in 2019 and drove it 45k ..now bought a third one sr 2021 manual transmission, nissan is doing a great job, had a civic before and I'm not coming back to honda.
@@tezh5897 weird ..I've had 2 CVT before this one, 2015 and 2019 ...the first one I put 90k with absolutely no issues, the second one 125k and again ..no issues at all. next one will be for sure another CVT, they are very smooth and easy on gas.
Excellent review of a great looking car. I like the fact that you do not put your own personality above the actual facts of the vehicle you are reviewing.
I would DEFINITELY pick the Sentra over a Hyundai or Kia any day. Its a beautiful car both inside and out. However the CVT transmission is a deal breaker. I have a 2015 Nissan Versa S with 22K miles on it. Had no major issues but wanna get a Mazda 3
My N line is much better especially with a 6 speed. Took me 3 months of diligence to find the car I liked. The manual 6 peed is sweet and it came with a set of F1 Eagles.
@@sylacauga I was able to walk and use mass transit to get to work for a few years. I was only driving on the weekends. Now I drive to work now only because I moved a little bit further away from my office and i'm not near a train station. Still I only live 2 miles from work so my commute is only 10-15 minutes.
I've had them all except by the korean ones, had civic and corolla now I'm at my third sentra, a 2021 sr manual transmission ..by far the best sedan I ever drove.
@@asog88 Hey, my wife had a mazda 3 ...good engine, simple interior and small space. I feel mazda cars are meant to be used in Japan ....that's what it felt like, but they are solid, the quality is there for sure.
I’m now considering a 2023 Sentra SR vs a 2024 Kia Forte GT Line. I’m leaning toward to Sentra and the two cars are fairly equal in style, features and price point.
Currently have a 2017 sentra base model. I just took it in to get the transmission looked because it felt odd. What do you know? Cvt failure error code. Good thing it was still under warranty. They gave me the 2022 altima for a loaner. I must say it was very nice. Great video.!! I think I want to get the Mazda 3 sedan
Don't, I purchased their flagship sedan (Maxima) only to have the CVT go out after 6yrs of use. The CVT was problematic from day one, I reported this to NMAC numerous times and they did nothing! Stay away from Nissan.
Hi Shari, absolutely you nailed this video. Our family and friends love your videos and honest reviews. Can’t wait till I show them this video. The naturally aspirated engines definitely more reliable than the Turbo engines. Finally, the Corolla have a real competition against this Sentra. Thank you 🙏
@@JL-is9rg I beg to differ the exterior is even more premium than the comp, full led back and front, headlights move with the steering up and down aswell
Choosing between the top-tier Toyota Corolla base model and the Sentra is a clear choice. The Corolla is poised to appreciate in value, while the Sentra will likely depreciate. Make the wise decision by opting for the Corolla; don't settle for second best.
I have heard bad things about Nissan Vehicles that have been made in recent years., maybe if I could purchase one with the Premium package in the 22,k range, then I would keep an open mind. It is a shame that their reputation has declined, I have had 2 Nissan Vehicles that were early 2000"s. They were bullet proof!! I still see older Nissan Altimas on the Road from that time that are still on the Road.
I test drove the Sentra and really liked the interior design and pricing. The engine performance, however, was the deal breaker. It was really sluggish and underwhelming compared to the other choices in the segment.
Long term reliable is usually the drivers habits and maintenance, 6 speed manual SR or S clutch is good, but gearbox is average not on par with a honda manual gearbox........
If your smart your 1st reason for an (Economy) car is reliability. Younger people with limited incomes will shop in this class. Always Always buy the TOYOTA period.... I'm a Mopar guy BTW.
I think it is more than anything a personal opinion what you say in this video, the interior quality of assemblies and materials of this sentra is far above the corolla for example, although in the past several had problems with the cvt, it does not imply that it will happen, and it would be impossible for this vehicle to have less durability than the sentra with manual gearbox, than the Honda or the Toyota
The Honda Civic used to always be the standout aesthetically. But among the current generation of compact cars, it's downright dowdy compared to the competition. J.D. Power rates the 2022 Nissan Sentra as more reliable than the 2022 Honda Civic and comparable to the Toyota Corolla in that dimension; the 2023 data is not all in yet.
Nissan is over-looked ( as well as Mazda) as everyone thinks they have to have a Honda or Toyota for Japanese reliability. Nissan has cracked the CVT issue a while back, so it is reliable, and a bargain. You will pay a premium for Honda and Toyota, which may not pay off even with higher perceived resale values. The Sentra is a good value .
You mention issues with the 2L engine and say that the sentra is better than the forte and elantra with regards to engine recall, doesn’t apply to sentra… but the sentra has the 2L engine too? I’m confused 6:33
Loved my 2020 Sentra, but the quality wasn’t there and the electronic issues were very apparent. I now have a 21 Mazda3 turbo. It’s leaps and bounds ahead of Nissan quality and reliability
We were looking last October for 2 cars, trading in my 2016 Mazda 3 iSport. One for me and one for my grown son. This was our order of favs last year: 1.2022 Honda Civic Hatchback 2.2022 Toyota Corolla Hatchback 3.2022 Mazda 3 Hatchback If we were to make the decision today, it would be: 1.2022 Toyota Hatchback 2.2022 Mazda 3 Hatchback 3.2022 Honda Civic Hatchback *The cars we actually bought: Mine...New 2020 Civic Coupe EX Son's...New 2020 Civic Sport Hatchback **As to having spent years in the car biz, evaluating cars for trade, my position is...There's no chance on this Blue Planet that I would buy a Nissan with any JATCO transmission. Plus, Nissan is in financial trouble, not only because of this transmission catastophe, but also shady dealings by CEO Carlos Goshn, driving NISSAN finances into the Marianna Trunch, off the coast of Japan. For heaven's sake, that crook Goshn was smuggled out in a cardboard box on a private jet! Remember Goshn now?? 🤔
You should research more, I have been driving my 2020 Nissan Sentra for almost a year and everything works perfectly, sturdy and smooth, transmission have improved and also a 7 years transmission warranty, second Nissan is not in trouble, study more before try to fool consumers. By the way great video and review.
Not a fair comparison? 2022 Honda Civic Touring blow’s them all away!!! You put lowest model available for Honda Civic, that’s cheating and not a true comparison I’ve driven them all! This is a joke right?
ma”Ma or all the cars in the same boat in my opinion unless you driving a Range Rover or a scat pat or luxury cars Nissan has nice cars no different then a Toyota Camry or a Honda Or a Khia 🤦♀️🤷♀️
I had a 1994 Nissan Sentra and I never had a PROBLEM with the CVT transmission. I think long term is still good option and I am actually planning on buying another one for 2020. My current car is a 2012 Corolla LE with 179k miles and climbing BUT THE OIL IS LEAKING AND IT IS TIME TO GET ANOTHER STATION CAR. TOYOTA USED RIGHT NOW IS RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE with high miles. Like I finding on the car rental sales companies like Enterprise etc. Toyota is a very good car BUT because Toyota IS SO BIG THEY THINK THEY CAN GIVE YOU NO OPTIONS AND INFLATE THE PRICE.
