Congrats Belmo, enjoy your management of the game, taking what the lanes will give you, understanding your equipment. Mind boggling. Oh, to be that young again to have the flexibility, strength and balance. Really fun watching you win. Great respect for all you pros as you grind it out.
That’s the difference of Belmo with the other pros on when to take the reracks, the other pros ask the rerack right after the shot while Belmo wait for at least 15secs to ask for it. That to buy some more time and let his opponent to stay longer on their seats
Appreciate the stream. Wished I was able to make it down there for this one but had league and other stuff going on. EJ has made it to the ladder for most of 2022...those bad breaks man. He is due for another win soon... only a matter of time.
Robert, how is it ridiculous? That he gets into the top 5, or that he wins? It's like complaining about WRWJr's 48 wins. Or PDW's 38. Or Norm's 40. Or Rash's 1 major. Good grief.
Hahaha when you bowl against Belmonte you gotta get the hits....you gotta get the breaks......you gotta get maybe he's bit off today.....What i,m trying to say you gotta get something or he's gonna get you.
I'm interested in seeing how I do when leagues start next month. On scorched lanes I'm pulling mid 170s and high 180s. I'm thinking some decent oil on the lanes I can do much better. Can't use my Widow Ghost on the desert but my Venom Shock holds up surprisingly well against it.
That's the definition of winning ugly. It truly does take a Champion to pull his game together when it mattered most, and take advantage of the openings left by his opponents.
That is literally the difference between Champions and other great players. Belmo comes up in the clutch a lot of the time. Look at Sean Rash. The exact opposite. Great bowler but he gets in his own head and chokes all the time. Tommy Jones had a similar reputation.
Unfortunate for EJ, finishing on the left where he struggled a bit and Belmo got lucky to finished on the right where he striked a lot. Congratulations again to the GOAT
@@TraumaER yeah and Belmo keeps NOT CHOKING. Thats the whole point.. He strikes and answers when he needs to and takes advantage of his opponents mistakes. You act like Belmo's opponents should all be shooting 300 every game.
EJ lost because he got a stone 9 pin that wouldn't go down. He has ridiculous scary pin carry but on TV this kind of thing seems to happen to him a lot. Belmo seemed relatively locked in though. Hard to beat Belmo when he has it going.
Belmonte missed the pocket just once, and paid full price with an open frame. EJ missed three times, two of those right through the face, that could have easily been unmakeable splits. The stone 9 pin is not why he lost. I really wanted EJ to win, but he wasn't the better "bowler" here.
gotta agree with DijiGo. EJ's was left of target in the 5th frame, through the nose but got an easy 8 count, he was left of target again in the 7th frame but caught a break and got a strike. Btw, Belmo struck twice in the 8th & 9th to stay in range and could get a max score of 254 to EJ's 278. In hindsight, what Tackett should have done in the 9th is take a re-rack and really make sure to throw a good shot because he was in the driver's seat. But his ball speed was a tad fast and placement a tad right giving him an 8 count. That's three consecutive times he threw poor shots. I love EJ's talent, but if he had sensed that he had gotten multiple breaks and just taken his time in the 9th to throw a good shot hammering the pocket and struck, the stone 9 wouldn't have mattered in the 10th. With a strike in the 9th and a 9-spare in the tenth, he shoots 257 and Belmo can't get up and beat him. The key frame for EJ was the 9th, moreso than the 10th.
@@mangkenor5745 nine frame was a bad shot...his body language tells the story and the ball barely hit the pocket. The first shot in the 10th frame was unlucky.
What did we learn here? First, Belmonte is simply dynamite. Second, EJ wears the worst pants I've ever seen. Third, EJ knows how to get outta dodge like the wind. Less then a minute, and he was outta there out to his car.
Thats why EJ is constantly adjusting his nuts and tighty whitey's cuz he wears those ball huggers... and on top of it, he crosses his legs when he sits like a fairy.. But the guy is having a great year bowling. He just needs to get his pants refitted.
SPOILER: Just made it to the final match, but Sean had the perfect opportunity. IMO, his form has too many variables that need to be the same on every shot. I also think he has 7 or 9 step approach?
Considering how many times people run the ladder, it’s not surprising. Being 2-3 seed gives you a feel of the lanes while not having to spend all your strike juice.
@Feddy von Wigglestein • Naw, Belmo, and E.J. were the first contestants on the Scorpion pattern. Same old story, same old song and dance. My friend. Not quite, but you know.
Too bad on that 1 pin loss .... that's gotta hurt, you can see it in his face as he collects his equipment ..... you can bet running through his mind is coulda, woulda, shoulda ..... he's definitely NOT thinking along the lines of "what can I learn from this 1 pin loss .... what can I take away from this ..... at least, not yet, perhaps later he will. Tough break !
I have bowled for 28 yrs. Now with covid -bowlers not wearing masks... I've quit forever. I don't miss it too much really, but seeing all these young bowlers being wreckless with their lives is just stupid.
@@nikitafilatov2319 I've playd don Carter pattern many times i can avg high 190s-200s easily playing 15-20 boards tight down similar to how EJ was playing... on this pattern
This is his first time using 3g's in a long time. Those 3G's are a super old design and tbh, they arent the best bowling shoe. They are beautiful and they do the job, but compared to the new Hammers and Dexters they are nowhere near as good.
Not really. Belmo answered every single time he had to and came in clutch big time. EJ bowled great, but to say he deserved to win over Belmo here who ran the ladder? ehh, not really...
He is great and i respect him, but on several occasions (as here) he gets lucky in 2 ways. His shots get good breaks, AND the opponent's shots get bad breaks.
You can say that about literally any bowler ever. No matter what you score, you HAVE to wait for your opponent to mess up if you're gonna win. Even if you shoot 300. If your opponent shoots 300, then you go to a roll off until one of you messes up. There's no defense in bowling so you have to be lucky to win. Even if you're among the best ever.
@@exesemas I'm not sure where you're getting that. Never said everyone is lucky but the same amount. But literally every winner in a bowling match needs some degree of luck.
@@exesemas my point is that if you think he gets lucky more often, think again. Everyone who wins a step ladder must have things go their way that day. Plus you gotta remember he makes more step ladder finals than anyone. WAY more. Do we get to see him bowl in events and on TV finals more than anyone. Which equates to more opportunities to watch him get lucky. My only point here is... 1. Everyone needs some luck to win. 2. He isn't "more lucky". He's just bowling in more step ladder finals than anyone and we see him bowl all the time. There's been plenty of "unlucky" moments for him in his losses. He wins so much that people tend to forget all the times he's lost in stepladder finals. That's all I'm saying.
Belmo is great but never will be the 🐐 with the 2-handed style and how much better the equipment is. He’s starting to change my mind but it’s always gonna be a huge factor with us older folks lol.
Completely understandable. I think it’s very simple. Walter Ray will always be the greatest of the pre 2handed era and belmo will be considered the greatest post 2 handed era. When we start bowling with our feet, that guy will be the next goat. I don’t think it’s fair to compare since Walter Ray didn’t really play much during belmos prime and vice versa.
