@@brianhidalgo4933 Grimmsnarl is on literally every team for screens and speed control, Wolfe's game 1 lead was specifically aimed towards punishing the Grimmsnarl lead and forcing no screens for the set. In other words he was facing Sleep Powder Venusaur in sun, Calyrex Shadowrider and AV Groudon under Unnerve and the thing he had to respect the most was Grimmsnarl. Follow the format a little bit and I promise you'll be sick of Grimmsnarl faster than you get tired of Zacian
@@lunanasushistax6692 I mean, scary face does lower speed by two stages, it might be enough to underspeed the Incineroar, but maybe Wolfe runs a speed hindering nature on incin since he uses Trick Room with Lunala so much on this team.
@@Will5353_ You don't have to personally catch every mon that you use, trading is a thing, he has half a million subs on YT and an active discord community, it would be more unlikely for him to be unable to make a tournament team with the mons that he wants if he asks his fans for help
Even if it did, I doubt unboosted double target Astral Barrage would've KO'd Incin at the range it was at, so he still would've got the KO onto Calyrex anyways
That last turn is exactly why I love scary face grimmsnarl on hybrid-style trick room teams like trick room sun with chlorophyll venusaur. Being able to speed control in either direction like that as well as lowering your own speed vs the trick room mirror is a great mix up, too bad it wasn’t enough in this case.
@@notsarthakkumar plus a sleep powder miss is 1/4, crit is substantially more useful & lucky, and the blades miss is 1/7 so it's fairly meh. And relying on sleep is a whack strategy anyway.
To be fair either way misses and crits are a part of pokemon so even though it is rng it makes and breaks games but it isnt much of a reason to put down either player, because thats the game they play
Dang loving the videos really brings back memories of old days but still waiting to see if anyone runs Alolan Exeggutor I love 💕 it so awesome an Alolan Raichu both are my favorite Pokemon.
The female commentator was totally on Wolfe's side though. Bit annoying tbh. If Santinos sleeppowder had hit in the first round it would have ended differently and when Groudon missed she went like "Oh Noooooo!!!!" and downplayed him massively by saying it was totally lucky
The last turn didn't matter tho, as incin at double speed can't outspeed caly, it needs to be max speed and no one runs max speed incin lol. So, max speed caly at half speed can never underspeed incin.
Charizard had charti berry, so he had to wait until he could get calyrex shadow in safely to rockfall Charizard so unnerve wouldn’t let the berry activate
@@remo450 makes sense, just seems pointless to let such a minor thing stop you from taking out the Pokemon thats absolutely wrecking your team. Then again, thats why they're pros and im watching on youtube lol
Pokémon RU-vid channel. Buttttt if you wanna watch it “live” you can watch the twitch Pokémon channel as twitch has a neat feature where you can watch with the chat as it happened, obviously you can’t interact with others or comment, but it’s really immersive because you can watch the community react as they were in real time.
why on god’s green earth did wolfe go for trick room w/ lunala in game 2 instead of just going straight for the knockout on groudon? trick room assuming calyrex for the speed control but he didn’t even really need to speed control it??
I’m not sure of the calcs but I think it might be because, if not then the Calyrex would ko lunala and get a special attack boost and then +1 astral barrage might ko even max charizard
He said in the commentary later, he wanted to check the calyrex. But he didn't expect Caly to have sub. He was more focused on caly. He learned from his mistakes in game 3. Also, even before the beginning of game 3 he was already in a really position, cuz his team had two options of outspeeding caly with groudon and tr. So, he went for this wincon. There are a lot of things he thinks way before us that we can never think of. He is basically genius when it comes to Pokemon, just watch his streams lol. He thinks 4 5 turns ahead😂
If he KO'd Groudon, then Calyrex comes in and is the fastest thing on the field, and Astral Barrage most likely would've got a double KO on the low health Groudon + Lunala, giving the Calyrex a +2 boost, and then at that point it most likely would OHKO Charizard through dmax anyways with a single target Astral Barrage It was the right play, and he would've had the game had Precipice Blades not missed the Calyrex
@@ChainsSSB Wolfe played great otherwise obviously, and still wins without bad luck, but I do think it was the wrong play. He can always protect Groudon next turn and sack Lunala (while clicking TR in case Caly does something crazy like subbing). Then Calyrex only gets +1. +1 252 SpA Life Orb Calyrex-Shadow Astral Barrage vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Dynamax Charizard: 200-238 (65.3 - 77.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO.
@@samadriance7859 that's true, but he was most likely also covering for in case Precipice Blades missed the Groudon, because otherwise he wouldn't have gotten the KO and be stuck in the same position except without having trick room up. He went for what he thought was the safer play, but it backfired because he didn't know the Calyrex had sub and his later Precipice Blades did end up missing out on a crucial hit onto the sub to break it.
Cant take these guys seriously. I dont mean their level of commitment or intelligence of breeding in pokemon which I know very little I just catch what I like and move on. But how mad they get when they lose...
Let's be honest, Wolfe did use Trick Room second time much to his detriment, one the opposing turn of knocking out Venusaur, he should have used Moongiest Beam and would have used the Meteor Beam for Incineroar, that would have did 2 things for him, the next trick room is not needed as we saw Wolfe's Groudon is faster than Santino's Groudon while also maxing Lunala would helped him knock out both of his final Pokemon without ever needing charizard
He needed the trick room for calyrex not Groudon, and maxing lunala with no trick room in front of calyrex would not have worked out well either. He lost game 2 because of a great substitute play by Tarquinio and a missed precipice blades.
@@remo450 dang I was gonna say this exact thing lol and you also gotta remember how much pressure they have on them we could think of things they could have done better bc we are on the outside looking in but in the moment there’s probably so much running through their mind
Luna don isn’t even that popular. Caly ice palkia finally got a good placement as it’s not really used. A reshiram made it to finals last tournament. No variety would be everyone running kyogre zacian or rinya sun still. Heck caly shadow only really recently just got popular
Because those are the Pokemon that work. Wolfe made a video about it, and I'd recommend it. It's informative for people who don't know much about the scene
This is a restricted format, where they are allowed 2 legendaries that tend to have a 100ish base stat total difference when compared to regular Pokémon. This isn’t always the format used, but when it is it’s basically an autoloss to not have them
@@chetricker watch the twitch Pokémon channel for the “live stream with chat” or the Pokémon RU-vid channel where someone’s undoubtedly posted time stamps of all the matches
I wish the female announcer, announced what was happening instead of what she thinks should happen. Once the players lock in their turn and the animation starts she should switch to the gameplay, she’s wrong over half the time anyways. I’m starting to mute her battles.
Its kinda pointless to just announce whats happening since its literally shown on the screen. If you just announced what has happened then you don't add very much to the battle. What they want to do is to give you more context, and some possible plays each side could make. Theres not much point in just saying whats currently happening.
If anything she corrected the male announcer a few times. “Charti berry may not have activated from the unnerve” is probably the biggest one tbh as it’s actually pretty important thing
