I am bringing you along with me as I come off a forced 7-week break from the pipes
In this episode, we hear a slow air and an MSR but I also spend some time showing you how I might need to alter a reed to get the sound I want. It's not always just flattening or sharpening, the indoor/outdoor climate can also play havoc with you. As well, when we re-seat a reed, it can take the balance out and you have to adjust top and potentially bottom hand tape to get what you need.
Just like the first video, this is no different than what any one of you must do.I"m just hoping that i pass on a few tips and perhaps inspire some others to get back playing. I won't kid you, it's tough, especially at the start with limited playing power and a lot of pain too fast, but I get inspired through reading, and my own passion to "go out on my terms" if possible and that time is not yet! For now, I'll park my ego at the door and just work to make better music.
I"m NOT looking for cheers and hurrahs, I'm just trying to commit to getting back to being "match fit" and this helps to keep me going. Plus, it may help some of you to realize that it's just not easy playing pipes after a break, we're all the same.
