I bought mine in May and the experience has been great for the daily 4 mile commute. I keep it in the trunk of the car so I don't bring it up to the apartment. I charge it at the office every other day when it is close to 50%, since I feel less power in the engine below this amount. Obviously it took me a week to ride in sport mode, but now I would like a sport+ mode. I'm a 60 yr old 195 pound man and it works for me.

I know the scooter is not waterproof, but I have had to ride it on wet roads and even in light rain. So far I haven't had any problems but I'm scared that one day it might short circuit or something. I wonder if something can be done about it like applying some repellent spray or caulking vulnerable spots.

This is great to hear! You must certainly have racked up some good miles by now. The scooter is ipx5 water rated. So it should be protected from rain or what ipx5 calls “low pressure water stream from any angle”. I agree on sport mode. It took me a day to get used to the scooter before I wanted to use that extra power. It’s too much until you feel it out. There is a way to hack the software to get a sport + mode if you Google it. But a little risky if you don’t follow the directions very carefully. I plan to leave mine as is bc I think it’s plenty fast enough for my use.

Hi, I’m just curious how tall are you? The only thing stopping me from purchasing this model is some other reviews were saying if you’re 6’ tall the regular max would be a better fit. However I like the less mass and size of this model Great review! I appreciate how detailed it is

F40 looks to be better than this one in almost every way, with maybe slightly taller handlebars (which can be a con), but not as tall as the black G30, so pretty much the same as the LP. Only difference is it's FWD instead of RWD, and has a disc brake in the rear. But its looks and profile are much slimmer and streamlined, same general specs, slightly worse hill climbing, and 4 pounds lights than the G30LP. Also has more curved deck space for bracing, meaning you're not going to need to step in awkward areas to brace yourself (like with the G30LP, where you basically can't rest your foot against the rear fender because it can break). And it also comes in black like the G30. Only downside I can see is since the rear disc brake is exposed, it could maybe get dirtier and rust out faster, especially in the rain. Technically the G30LP is still a little better overall in performance, but the the looks and ergonomics of the F40 edges ahead well enough that the G30LP is basically obsolete.
@fixitwithjake
@fixitwithjake Год назад
Hi North. I have not written the F 40 that you are talking about. But I did some research and I found someone that has written both and this was their take on the two scooters: “I can answer this because I've had the G30LP, and after it was stolen, got the F40 to replace it. The G30LP was heavier, but the rear wheel drive felt like it had faster acceleration and had a higher waterproof rating. The F40 goes just as fast, but takes a little longer to get there, and it also feels slower going uphill. I only ride on my short 2-mile commute, so range is not something I push to the limit. Both scooters are great, but if you don't mind the extra weight, the G30LP felt slightly better to ride”
@aragorn318
@aragorn318 Год назад
F40 looks to be much more prone to flats than the LP, which is one of the most important things.
@boysgymnastics
@boysgymnastics Год назад
I have the f40, g30 and g30lp. I find the build quality on the f40 is lacking compared to the g30 series. Even with disc brakes, it takes me about 10ft to come to a complete stop at full speed compared to about 6ft on the g30 scooters. There's also lots of stem wobble on my f40 that I've been unable to fix.

If this dies before you get back home, can it be used in a neutral-type mode where you can kick it home like an unpowered scooter without any motor/regen resistance?
@fixitwithjake
@fixitwithjake Год назад
Not neutral resistance. But def rideable to get home. I feel some slight resistance. Often times I don’t use the motor and just ride it kick style to get some exercise as I follow my son around on his bike. Hope that answers your question.
@fixitwithjake
@fixitwithjake Год назад
I don’t believe so. You’ll need the electronics running in order to have regenerative braking to work. Otherwise the hand brake on the scooter is just a normal drum brake and no power will be made.

I have a question tho what the difference between ninebot max g30lp , ninebot max g30E II and ninebot g30 what the difference
@fixitwithjake
@fixitwithjake Год назад
So the g30E II and the g30 use the larger 551wh battery. They both have a range of 40 miles. But their deck is longer and it is harder to fit in a car's trunk. The max has a smaller 367 wh battery and 25 miles range. But it is shorter and fits in the trunk easier. All of them are good. But I think they asked customers and people probably said I never use the extra range and the battery is heavy, can you please make a shorter, lighter scooter for us like the new max model: amzn.to/3HPFmh7
@theplanechannel2
@theplanechannel2 Год назад
Is there enough leg room on the deck because I know it's shorter then the g30p.
@fixitwithjake
@fixitwithjake Год назад
Yes, but you’re right, less then the other model. I think they theory was they wanted to make it fit in a standard car trunk easily. This one does just that. It has fit at an angle in my Jeep cargo area. So any longer it might be a tougher fit. As far as leg room. There’s enough for a full size guy to stand but no extra. I even have room to put my son in the front and I stand on the back comfortably. But I noticed when I rented larger scooters you get more room on the kick pad. So if u don’t plan on ever bringing this in your car then get the longer model. And if you do, this works well.

What speed was 18 miles range at?
@fixitwithjake
@fixitwithjake 11 месяцев назад
That’s a good question. I’m not really sure. I’m guessing here, but I would say full speed it around 19 miles an hour. I just did for 5 miles yesterday starting at 100% on the battery is only at 86% after all of that riding. Pretty impressive if you ask me.
@JerryLowARA

@fixitwithjake
@fixitwithjake Год назад
I would say doling is very very easy. Carrying it is easy but it isn’t super light. So taking it in a bus would be ok. But carrying it up a bunch of stairs would get tiring.

I bought this second hand and was instructed that I turn off the battery regen, as it overheats. Is that something I need to do? I would love to have mild regen on, since I do a lot of up and downhill riding. Also Toronto is around 10- 20 degrees celsius. Please advice
@fixitwithjake
@fixitwithjake Год назад
I have never had any issues. I would get it covered under warranty. If not, maybe you need to replace the connectors inside like this guy did www.reddit.com/r/NinebotMAX/comments/up5ppm/g30lp_shuts_down_while_riding/
@boysgymnastics
@boysgymnastics Год назад
My understanding is that the battery regen feature is more of a gimmick at the moment and will not provide you with any noticeable range improvement. Better to turn it off.
@fixitwithjake
@fixitwithjake Год назад
I’d have to say I disagree that the region feature is not helpful. I find it to be very advantageous. Instead of having to constantly use my left hand break I can just relax. My thumb off the throttle and the scooter will naturally slow down. So it’s actually really useful for pacing yourself. Now how much of it gets soaked back into the battery I’m not sure but energy cannot be created or destroyed so the energy must be going back of the battery because there’s not a lot of heat being generated. So I think in fact it does work as designed.

@fixitwithjake

Since I have a car I'd likely just drive if I needed to ride that far. But, now that you mention it, I am due for another long ride now that the rain has stopped here. Looking forward to it!

@fixitwithjake

It has cruise control. After 5 secs at the same speed it will beep and hold that speed for you until you brake or touch the throttle again. This can be turned on or off in the app. Any other questions?

I still ride mine about once a week. I never let the battery sit dead because that can damage them. I also don’t leave it at 100% but somewhere around EDR 90% if it’s gonna sit for long periods of time. But I’m happy to report. It’s been a good reliable scooter and the battery life has been excellent.
