Makes for a sensible city car which can even take the luggage for a long drive, what else is required. Looks great, great boots pace, seating is comfortable. Guess it fits in well for a city car.

At 7:27 is reported that it has 18.3 cubic feet or 521 liters of trunk or boot space. This is a TOP 500 SEDAN, which belongs to the select group of those whow have more than 500 liters of capacity in its trunk or boot and I'm going to put this video on my decents sedan playlist! A well packaged good looking car with competitive prices. And Skoda has worked in the areas complained about in Kushaq. The raised ground clearance offers the capability to tackle our roads better. The only factor working against is the shrinking sedan segment and could hurt sales. But if someone is looking for the most amount of real estate for their money, they should look no further.

Rapid, that was a lovely car. I remember when someone I know got the diesel variant, the 1.6 one, I took it for a drive and totally fell in love with it. It was a perfect package marred by only fly in the ointment, which was Skoda's After Sales Support. Thankfully that has been sorted out now but the gem (in my opinion ofcourse), the 1.5L TDi should have been upgraded to BS6. Yeah yeah emission scandal and I remember, but when rivals could pull off the upgrade, why couldnt Skoda? I mean Honda did it and I think it may sell fewer number of 1.5L iDTEC than what Skoda and VW could have, considering it would have found its place in Polo, Kushaq, Taigun and VIrtus too. Anyways, aside from that I think Slavia is a superb product and I think it looks better than the Virtus. Buyers though could shy away from the single digit fuel economy numbers. Goa does have narrow lanes but from what i could see most of the drive was on open roads. Add to that fact that on board computers show over optimistic numbers most of the time, which could mean that real world economy could be worse. I hope I am wrong because I want the Slavia to do well, it deserves to, one of the few cars that could still plaster a smile on a drivers face. I hope to see the full road test soon :)

I’ve a Rapid TSI and the single digit FE the Slavia cluster showed for the day was indeed a surprise for me as well. Well, in crawling city traffic it falls really bad but climbs up on an open highway if you manage to drive sedately 😅

Great to see Executive Sedan segment getting a new lease of life. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's a dying bodystyle as in higher up segments sedans still churns profit & are very desirable, the only thing is that most of the manufacturers aren't just ready to experiment with them, instead jumping on the bandwagon of Crossovers all thanks to usual terrible road infrastructures in India & ofcourse to showoff to some extent. But irony is that ride, handling, driving pleasure & fuel efficiency of a sedan is any day better than a Crossover.

I am surprised why is nobody addressing the elephant in the room? The fuel economy at 8.4 km/l is very disappointing. Small capacity turbo petrol on a big car is not going to work in the longer run. Better to spend those extra 2-3 lakhs and go for the 1.5 litre. It may have a better fuel economy because the engine will be less stressed. At this economy for 1.0 litre engine Sloda will find it very difficult to to compete with the super efficient Honda City. I very much like the car otherwise though and wish it good luck.

True, I was also wondering why the point isn't being raised by anyone. That was the first thing I noticed. A 12-13 combined would have been appreciated. This isn't going to take them anywhere, considering petrol at 110 a litre, which will happen pretty soon.

One thing we miss is "engineering and R&D", is there any other company which pulls 178 torque from 1 lt engine. If it was so why not I10 and celerio did same and gave powerful engine to customer. It is like you would go for 32 pixel camera of MI or 12 pixel of apple. Always numbers don't matter, engineering and end package matters. Same engine has different bhp and torque in all skoda cars.
@kirantoleti
@kirantoleti 2 года назад
@@shrinivasshaiwale3984 valid point, but my concern is the maintenance cost of turbo engines. For 6 yrs it is ok, u hv warranty. Suppose someone buys the car to keep it for longer period, wouldn’t the turbo engine demand high cost for maintenance? I own a Skoda rapid petrol 1.6 petrol. It’s NA engine and has excellent power. I heard that the 1.0 TSI engine also produces equal power as the 1.6 NA engine. I was tempted to think of Slavia but couldn’t let go of the 1.6 MPI.
@shrinivasshaiwale3984
@shrinivasshaiwale3984 2 года назад
Yes agreed, that problem of turbo remains with all car manufacturer, especially automatics all vehicles are in torque and not in NA nowadays. TSI of VW group is long tested but not the torque engines of other companies, relatively new. Maintainance it seems for now prices have reduced due to India made products, but still concerns are there post 5 years. Noted nowadays Mahindra also 15k service, that's a gamble and consumer needs to be smart to save amount.
