A quick recap of the upgrades I’ve done in the past year and my latest swapping the SX cassette for a GX cassette. I share some of the challenges and tips to do your own upgrades as well as dialing in your drivetrain.
The hub body needed to convert your factory hub body from HG to XD is SKU S202100005 - the cheapest I found was from Fanatikbike online.
www.fanatikbik...
Remember, you need one of the spacers and the end cap for your new hub body - there are no additional parts needed.
Happy riding!l

Picked up same bike yesterday but in the sage/white/blue all is stock, but I had them put a GX derailleur on it before I left the shop! Very happy with the bike so far “one ride” and plan to upgrade stuff as I learn what I like and or break stuff.

That’s exactly what I did - had the GX derailleur installed before I picked it up. Then spent the next year upgrading things. Every upgrade makes the bike feel that much better tbh.

What size rear shock is that? I'm currently trying to swap my rear shock out.

It is a 190x45mm - same as stock. I picked it up off PinkBike.

Could you please add the link to the side for the XD hub? Can’t seem to find that SKU it seems that vary from retailer and it’s not a manufacturer part number. Thank you for the sharing the video very informative!

@@dayinnymtbWill this work in 2022 stumpy alloy comp?
@dayinnymtb
@dayinnymtb Год назад
@@sax1607 I don’t know for sure but the site has the hubs listed the same so I would think it would be safe to assume they are the same hubs and this would work.

I've got a 2019 alloy comp and the rear hub keeps coming loose. It seems fine when checking it off the bike (everything seems tight), but when installed you can feel lots of play when pushing the tire side to side. Do you know if the XD driver help this in any way? thx
@dayinnymtb
@dayinnymtb Год назад
The XD system secures the cassette at the base of the hub body, where as the HG sandwiches the cassette. So the XD is inherently more secure from that standpoint. It’s possible your situation is some slop developing in the cassette.

Hey there, I've enjoyed your videos. I have the same bike, looking to upgrade with similar things. Which dub bottom bracket did you use? My biggest complaints are the rear shock and the brakes, I think I want to start there.

Pat, this is the one I used: www.competitivecyclist.com/sram-dub-bsa-bottom-bracket?cmp_id=EM_CC_OrderConfirm_&CC-Narvar-OnTheWay

What size mounting hardware did you use for the link side of the rear shock?
@dayinnymtb
@dayinnymtb 10 месяцев назад
I reused the hardware from the factory shock.

@@triptieshoseI had my LBS do it but yes, otherwise you need a bushing removal/insertion tool.

When installing the xd driver body is there an end cap that is needed?
@DKmtber
@DKmtber Год назад
Oops nevermind heard that you said to re-use the same end cap. Then only one spacer is need from the previous HG body.
@dayinnymtb
@dayinnymtb Год назад
@@DKmtber correct, if you use the one I linked, reuse the end cap and one spacer.

@DayinNY MTB thanks for the reply. Is there a reason only one of the spacers are used from the old hg hub? I am about to upgrade mine here soon. Haven't taken it apart yet.
@dayinnymtb
@dayinnymtb Год назад
@@DKmtber not sure the specific but when I put both back on it was about 1/8” above the hub - one out and it seated perfectly and hasn’t been an issue.

Off the top of my head I believe the weight difference is around 800 grams, or around 1.75 pounds.

lol probably the last thing I’m upgrading, I don’t have any really big downhills where I ride so I haven’t felt the need for more brake… yet…

Hey man! Just got mine today. I want to upgrade the rear shock to the one you have. Which size is it?
@dayinnymtb
@dayinnymtb Год назад
190x45mm is the size you need - I believe Fox has them on sale on their site or you can check out the buy/sell on PinkBike for a new takeoff.
