2022 Subaru BRZ | Still Singularly Purposed But Way Better 

The discount 911 gt3 is glorious.

In the EV future, speed will be commonplace. What will be hard to come by will be lightweight handling and a mechanical connection to the vehicle, making the BRZ and GR86 highly desirable to buy and hold.

BRZ is FANTASTIC in the snow - I drive mine year-round in Western Mass. Just need some winter tires!

I'm taking delivery of my 2022 BRZ shortly but on my 2013 FRS I could definitely fit my hybrid bike, full sized, in the trunk with the rear seats down. I was surprised it fit, but with a little maneuvering it was in.

One thing I wish it still had was an analogue speedometer. Only a minor gripe, but much more pure and less to go wrong long term in my opinion.

I used to hate the new look but now I’m in love with it 🤣 I have a first gen I love mine a little more now that it feels like the new 240

I bought a '15 BRZ Limited brand new, but before I bought it I had already planned on making improvements. Over the course of 2 and half years I added an Open Flash Tablet tune, a catted UEL header, and a cat-back exhaust. It's now close to a 6 second 0 to 60 time, a much fatter torque curve with much improved drivability, and I guestimate the horsepower to be near 230. The OEM speakers wear trash and I replaced them: a night and day improvement. The 2015's did not come with a OEM back-up camera, so I added one. Although I still have the stock wheels with Prius tires stacked in the garage, I now have Michelin Pilot-Sport 4s Summer tires on Enkei RPF-1 wheel that I swap out for Pirelli WinterZero's on Enkei M52's in the Winter. I've added sound deadener and Toyota OEM mud flaps. The car is a blast to drive. It's not my only car: I have a non-M BMW 4-door that I alternate with. Between the two I have all my needs met. The BRZ is my preferred snow car. The '22 BRZ intrigues me and I do intend on testing one, but I have the feeling that it's not enough of an improvement over my current ride to make it worth a few more years of car payments.

That is the exact spec I have on order. Cant wait..!!

Kudos to Subaru/Toyota for still offering good affordable fun to drive sports cars

Miss my FR-S, do not miss the torque which the new one has thankfully not got. If I were younger I would (not just could) daily this, every corner is a great fun. Being older, getting in and out is great now and then, but not all the time. Think I would get the base model and swap the tires, just not sure about the top tier seats in the summer months.

This car was loads of fun to drive! Nice sized car for carving back roads with a 6 speed in hand!

Steve, We drove rear wheel drive cars in winter for generations without the benefit of today's terrific snow tires. I would be happy to test BRZ traction through the winter. In regard to Akio Toyoda praising the Subaru AWD system, I must point out that the world-beating GR Yaris he refuses to sell us has an in-house Toyota AWD system rather than a borrowed Subaru powertrain. The grapevine tells us that Toyota AWD system will arrive here next year in the GR Corolla. Let's wait and see who makes the best AWD.

Man! I'm digging the look of this thing. I hate the dash, it looks so "let's do the dash now!" Thus thing is fantastic! I wouldn't let that dash stop me from buying.

The exchange rate is criminal rn, but I ordered one for 25.5K USD + tax. 29K all in after all the financing bs. Honestly still feels like a lot for what you're getting, but compare against the market right now, I practically stole this car. Can't wait for it to deliver

Wonder why you didn’t care for the prior generation? It’s fundamentally the same car isn’t it? The torque dip of the old car is irritating but not too much different than the behavior of old school turbos. A stage 1 open flash tune for $500 mitigates a lot of the issue. Seems to me that the new car deserves praise (as does Toyota and Subaru for making it), but the car from the beginning (2013) doesn’t get enough respect from automotive journalists imho. What else can you buy that really competes (that isn’t a Miata). Fwd cars are not direct competitors.
