In this video, I am running the 500 mile challenge in a 2022 Tesla Model 3 Long Range with the OEM 18" Aero Wheels and Michelin Tires.
I've performed this test in the past in my 2021 Model 3 Long Range, but there have been updates to the vehicle's charging curve, as well as some additional Superchargers that have been installed on the test route since then, so I thought it was time for a re-test. Not to mention that the first 500 mile challenge test I performed was not done in total adherence with the rules, mainly due to only stopping for a maximum of 25 minutes, not 30.
The Model 3 is a very easy car to drive long distances. The heat pump-equipped models maintain very good efficiency, even down to near freezing temperatures (efficiency drops off quite a bit below freezing, especially once the battery gets cold). They also have comfortable front seats, a good sound system, solid driver assistance features (even if "Full Self Driving" does not actually fully drive the car itself), excellent headlights and good performance. As I've said before, the Model 3 (and all Teslas, really) is let down by it's overly harsh suspension and very noisy interior.
