2022 Thruxton Ton Up Review | Is it a Cafe Racer (and fun to ride?)

I've had the pleasure of reviewing the Speed Twin 1200 a while back and I really liked its character and charm. This bike however, is a sportier version of that with clipons and slick Brembo brakes and it makes me think that with a front fairing, this thing can turn into a legit Cafe Racer style bike. They do indeed sell the "dolphin fairing" which will be going on spring of 2024 Can't wait!

It's not 112 ft/lbs, it's 112 newton meters. That's 83 ft/lbs, which is still a ton of torque. This is one of the bikes I've been looking at. To me it's one of the two best looking bikes on the market right now, the other being the V100 Mandelo in white with gold trim (the other colors make it look pedestrian). The Thruxton's best livery is the chrome version which is black with a fully chromed tank. They don't make that version anymore, but I think it would be easy enough to buy a black bike and have the tank chromed. The Ton Up looks good too, but the regular multi colored grey/silver does not flatter this bike.

Sorry bro, the camera setup is the same.. the problem was that it was tilted downwards and I didn't realize any of this until after the recording. Future recordings will be fixed.

This bike is GREAT. It was my dream bike since I began riding in 2012. I actually just traded in my 22 speed triple 1200 RS for this 23 model in green. It’s so much more fun. As you demonstrated, more than enough power on the street that you will actually use. You are always in optimal torque range being so down low, so you just always have that intial power jolt every time you rip throttle. I feel it’s more planted than my speed triple was too. I really notice it on windy days. I think because the bike is lower? Easily flicks in the twisties, I avg 43mpg vs 30mpg on the speed triple. And also more fun without quickshifter, using the clutch, rev matching. Absolutely love this bike. I also bought the 22 bobber this year and that’s actually the funnest bike I’ve ever owned. It’s odd, that after market exhaust doesn’t even sound any different than stock
