2022 Toyota GR86 Review - EXTREME FUN MACHINE

The second gen review was so immersive I felt like buying the car

I still comeback to this video from time to time because of how clean and perfect that intro was. This video in general is just too satisfying.

This is my favorite car of this generation and I'm so excited to get behind the wheel of one. With the new engine, it's feasible to squeeze out 250~ish hp and 200~ish torque without boosting and compromising the car's reliability, which is like the perfect amount for the car in near-stock form. Having virtually no torque dip gives it enough grunt to hold its own against 350z's in the straights while dominating them in the corners, which is a great benchmark for the car. I also ADORE the simplicity and functionality of the interior with all of its pragmatic quirks such as the climate controls and matte surfaces. The level of control conveyed in your footage shows that the car will not only be safe, but rewarding for any car enthusiast. I see this as being this generation's gateway car that creates new car enthusiasts and inspires more driving enthusiasts. Truly, the ideal car for a new enthusiast or even a more seasoned driver looking for a fun daily. What a time to be alive.

The GR86 looks as if Yuri was a car.

It genuinely makes me sad that this is probably one of the last cars ever that will be built like this. Gas powered, manual transmission, RWD. It seems like every car is just going to be the same thing in the coming years and as a life long car enthusiast, I'm not excited about it.

I remember when gen 1 first came out. When Australia still had Melbourne/Sydney car show I went had a look. Looks way easier to get in and out of straight off.

I was already a fan of the FR-S and 86, but this video made me want to get from behind my keyboard and test drive of this car! This really showed how fun this car can be!

Whoever drives this during the winter please rust proof it. It will make it last and hold some value 20 years from now. My 22 year old EK is 99.2 rust free thanks to that.

Can confirm BRZ (basically this car) in winter is AWESOME with a set of winters. 2020 BRZ with Vikingcontacts and it was a drift machine when I needed, and held straight when I didn't wanna drift (which was rare)

The tail slides for a moment, but you can see that the recovery is quick. It has enough power and is perfect.

OMG! This intro! Your editing is sometimes F&F level!! As much as I am a Subie fan, I can't deny that 86 is the only way to have it for real! I would get a Z (almost any) against it, but choosing between 86 and BRZ... we all know who's the Akina DK, right?

I’m an ND Miata owner and if I was looking for 1 car to drive this would be it. However for me there is just something special driving topless and having a weekend toy to cruise the mountains with. This is still such a cool car !
