Yes I test drove the 300 gr.... I pick it Monday 😅 ticks all my boxes, comes with off road animal bullbar, flat roof rack and micky Thompson A/t. Think I'll just get 4" straight exhaust and snorkel. Already have a winch, and spotties for it. I don't need rear seats I take them out and put rear draws. And if you have to get a mod plate to do that legally. Love all the safety features, because my wife is going to be driving it mostly with the kids. And it matches my GR yaris Rallye
The intercooler is still on the top back area of the engine. The radiators on each side at the front below the headlights are for cooling the fluid which is pumped through these radiators to the intercooler via an electric pump.
True....but most likely that most of the things you mentioned will have deprecated after 5 years to zero (not the mux🙏) Need this for serious of large off road caravan towing without the hassle of overload
Nice critique, no blind bashing like some other you tubers. Can’t wait to get mine (February) I hope but not looking to good at moment. We got the accessories looked in but still no date at all
@@alexphotoman absolutely wonderful love it , you will have fun, we had no drama as far a damaged steering wheel ( no eta at all could be still a year they sad, no biggy only leather damage) and on the back window trim the chrome has a speck thing (same no date for the fix ) great car lovely engine………
Oddly, I have a volume knob in my vehicle and I never use it for volume control even though I love it. . I use the steering wheel controls as they are closer and easier to access/use. I only use the volume knob itself to turn the audio on/off.
I agree, a volume knob is far easier and quicker to use than buttons. But do people with volume controls on the steering wheel still use the volume knob on the dash? I haven't used my volume knob on the dash for the past 6-8 years. I've always used the controls on the steering wheel.
Not according to old mate even though they show a short clearly showing all terrain written on them. Don't forget those water cooled Intercoolers which are obviously air to air... 😐 Or is he talking about heat exchangers for water to air cooling?
Can't they make another 4x4 wagon with solid axles, coilovers all around, descent amount of axle articulation and twin factory lockers as option? Fed up of this 21 century trend of super expensive SUVs.
Wrangler and Grenadier. You can buy 4 Wranglers with the price of that 300. You get twin lockers, sway bar disconnect and plenty of armor for protection as standard too. The Grenadier is going to be priced similarly and will include all of the above mentioned dunno about the sway bar though
$138,000? I love how they conveniently leave out that this is before on road costs, so in reality you don't walk away with much change from $150,000 no matter what state you live in!
I have 2 concerns 1. That price tag is insane to be taking it anymore than light offroading 2. Is that new V6 strained producong that much power? Edit: concern 3. I've seen 200's throw CVs many many times when you put anything other than stock standard stuff on them. I hope Toyota has fixed that
This is the same foundation for the American Toyota Tundra, over there is very common to install 35" and 37" tires so they must have done lots of changes to the front end.
@@eduardosanchez7827 well I hope it works out cause almost every guy I know who owns a 200 has thrown at least 1 CV when putting 35's on and in the 4x4 community they're very common. One of the reasons I run 33's on my WJ is that even though it's solid axles all round
Car play finally added but the user interface of the “new” screen already looks about 10yrs out of date. No split tailgate shows they really have not asked customers what they want which is pretty disappointing.
The Price is not expensive if you consider re-sale value.! This vehicle will give you all your money back when the time comes.! Just look at 2nd hand prices for the 200 series, these are the Number One Vehicle for Re-Sale Value bar none.! Unlike a Mercedes for example which drops $30k as you leave the showroom and keeps dropping. These things are a great investment for this simple reason.!
I see what you're saying and yes Toyota has great re sale value but are you gonna buy this just for resale value reasons? When you wanna tour and go offroading which is what most of the buyers wanna do you're not gonna keep it mint and definitely not keeping it stock. You don't get a girlfriend to save her for the next bloke if you know what I mean
Wow great car 137k awesome. Just got a mahindra pik up for 39k drive away. Went around Australia no problem. Dam must save up for a Toyota Fuck that. Might buy 3 mahindra pik up for 137 k
Erghhhh....how much???? And they give you shit tyres even though it is the 'most offroad capable offroad.' The GVM is going to be a huge issue. The Ineos Grenadier just keeps looking better and better.
@@vpatron8085 lol you wanna take $ 140 000 offroading you be my guest. That thing is so fat you're gonna do damage no matter where you go. Oh by the way you should probably know that LC's throw CV's when you put anything other than stock tyres or suspension. Also that new V6 is gonna be highly strung producing that much power plus they're gonna take a while to iron out the kinks. LC is no longer what it used to be. It's a mommy mobile
The price is absolutely insane! By the time you put on off road tyres, a suspension lift to get it off road ready its $150ks! yikes, I didn't know off roading was a rich man's sport? Who would actually take a $150k car to places where you need a twin locked 4WD?
You can’t fit the bar and winch so you don’t go over GVM. Solo tourer. Only have 650kg, once you add bar, tow all weight, fuel, passenger, rack, track, fridge your over GVM.
@@TheSleepy99 hi Sleepy, Front Axle load rating is same as LC200 or 1650kg, only item not stated is stock tare front axle weight. Would of suspected more to play with as the engine is lighter and moved backwards. Rear axle weight is 100kg less than LC200
@@bushmagpie3312 200 and 100 had less payload I believe... I have cut and pasted from internet data "How much can a Landcruiser carry? " Take the LandCruiser 200 Series, with a 3350kg GVM. I really want to see how it performs in real life considering body panels coming off, suspension looking suspicious with massive body roll and cheap plastic bits all around
The payload / GVM is a JOKE ! Only payload of 650 kg !! Once u add a Bull Bar, Side Runners & Roof Rack etc etc, along with passengers, u would be at GVM. Absolutely no luggage etc. So easy to be over GVM, which is illegal. No insurance coverage… Crazy that u can’t get the lockers etc as options on a less expensive GX / GXL model. This vehicle is nearly $ 150 k on road, plus cost of options !!
@@vpatron8085 Price is not the issue. The vehicles very low GVM will rule it out as being a suitable vehicle for many people. It’s an all new vehicle, and this is what Toyota come up with. Embarrassing fail…
@@StephenFogarty2023 The GX has a 785 KG payload and the GXL version has a payload of 700 KG capacity for the purpose of touring towing etc. The GR spec is not meant to carry heavy payloads as its not designed for that, its more for sporty and off road purposes. You cant make an assumption that the vehicle is a fail based on the version that they are reviewing, do your research before bashing something.
Payload of 650Kg is only 50Kg (about half a person) less than the GXL. And put a SmartBar on it - much lighter, and just as tough. Who needs roof racks? Travel a bit lighter. If there's only two of you and maybe a couple of light kids - how much crap do you actually need to take with you? Mine is on order!
Great 🤷🏼♂️, a hot V. This design has been so successful over the last few years. Not. Will the injectors, turbos and oil system last though? They struggled in normal application how they are they going to go with the extra heat load?
To Australia from your Commonwealth siblings in Canada.. Tell Toyota to sell this in Canada, or you'll mass boycott Land Cruiser!..... I know, i'm just kidding lol.. A boycott of Land Cruiser in Australia would be about as likely as a boycott of rice in China 🤣🤣
Who needs diff locks in a "touring vehicle" Toyota having a laugh if they think off-roaders will opt for this model at that price. Bull bar and fridge and you are at GVM...... Bull bar will block intercoolers and if it doesn't a bit of dusty outback travel will mix dust with insects and block them too. I predict lots of issues with the hot V for anyone using this as a tow vehicle, note that maximum trailer weight will be 2500kg not 3500kg as claimed, to stay legal.
What are you talking about? GVM, GCM etc all allow for a 3500Kg braked towing weight. Even with a bull bar - personally I'd go with a SmartBar. And with more torque, along with the 10-speed box meaning that you're at close to peak power range most of the time, it should be a great towing vehicle. But of course, the dinosaurs (the same ones who rubbished the LC200 when it superseded the LC100) who cling to the idea that a V8 is necessary to make a good towing vehicle, will be proved wrong once again. Price aside, this is a great towing vehicle. And price-wise, it's still way cheaper than a Defender or even a RAM - but a much better vehicle IMHO.
@@The_Doc_Rocks You clearly know jackshit about GVM, GCM. The LC300 has 610kg payload (give or take a few depending on which model) Put a 3500kg van on and you have 260kg payload left. Put in a full tank of fuel, a bull bar, some decent LT rubber, some recovery gear, maybe an extra battery and drawer system and you're lucky to be able to carry the driver and stay under GVM. I repeat the maximum practical van weight for a family of 4 fully loaded with all their shit would be 2500kg. As for the engine, VW Toureg and Disco owners have been towing with 3.0L V6 diesel without any issues on 6 or 8 speed autos. Nothing wrong with a good V6, I never said there was.
@@einfelder8262 Or buy a Nissan Patrol Ti-L, $30k is a lot for fuel in next 5yrs of ownership, comes with locker.$108k. Drive away. Now what’s better value?
Why can toyota sell their best/flagship vehicles with not lockers front/rear and the other helpful basic 4x4 features?! Mercedes gwagen comes with 3 lockers always.
@@youtubecarspottersguide1 No, but with all the money you saved by buying the 89k australian dollar GX instead of a G wagon, you can buy aftermarket diff locks for it.
New Defender has bugger all space in the cargo bay area. But does have a lot of clearance, wider tyres, payload, etc. Price wise, it's about the same, once you start ticking a few options, but the beauty is you can configure to exactly what you want.
@@StephenFogarty2023 I am watching with great interest. Mostly interested to know what the load carrying capacity will be with the 130 wagon. I'll be honest, I like the look of the new Defender, just wanting more cargo bay area as the current one is very small and I don't like having to put camping equipment and other things high up on a roof rack. It gets pretty ordinary after a while, especially when setting up and packing up whilst touring.
@@StephenFogarty2023 the reason Hilux has DPF issues is because the dpf was designed for long trips where you travel faster than 80km/h… but lately everyone that’s been buying them only crawl around the local westies and never take it outside the city… that’s why I didn’t wanna buy a ute, because every single ute I see is being driven by soccer mums and people that have no business buying a ute 🤦
Toyota is doing the right thing by down sizing their stock tyres. Where the rubber comes from for manufacturing tyres, in some part of South East Asia, the living conditions of the labourer is horrible. Americans are by far the largest exploiters of these peoples. They are just happy to get a 37s Or 40s. Some of them don't even drove in their stock tyres even for a month. We in India understand the hardship face by the rubber plant labourer, so We did our bit by re-treating our tyres. It's not that We can't afford a brand new one's. We overland and off-road in our 33s of course there are some 35s still We enjoyed as much as the Americans on their 40s. Being adventurous is in you, not in the vehicle you drive.
‘Oh What Feeling’, good on you Toyota, develop a touring vehicle that has no GVM capability, add 300kg tow ball weight, 4x 80kg passengers, 110kg bullbar. Your over and you haven’t even got to fridge + roof rack yet. Only way to go touring is on your own. A Solo tourer. It’s a joke at the price, COVID Tax plus Toyota tax. The tech in this isn’t anything to brag about it’s been in other vehicles for 5yrs. Oh What a Feeling in you wallet.
It's way cheaper than a Defender, or even a RAM. And a much better vehicle all round. How much shit do you really need to take with you? If you're going to take that much, go for a RAM 2500 or even 3500.
Still standby statement, Toyota developing a touring/ towing vehicle with no GVM Capacity. You can tow but can’t take family or tour without towing. Tech upgrade isn’t anything special Hyundai has same or more tech. I looked at 200 VX in 2020 price was $98465 on road with Toyota bar, the new 2021 is 28% more. If that’s not Toyota tax what is? Other vehicles on market with same/more capability have increased 5% max. How’s the roof loading on the new land cruiser and fuel tanks compared to 200?
@@robyncrighton1255 Hi Rob, I can see your Die hard land cruiser Fan, more money than common sense. 28% increase for a solo touring vehicle which is depending again on the after market to get GVM back. Less payload than a Prado, Ranger, Isuzu.
It’s kind of amusing seeing all these folks ranting about the price, and then extolling the virtues of their heap from 1995. You aren’t the target market, and these days $130k is not a massive sum of money.
130k is a massive sum of money for a 2016 sahara 200 series with 160,000kms. That's the problem! It was never about the 300. It's like comparing ps3 with ps4
138k!!! No thankyou Mr Toyota and no matter how many motoring journo's push the narrative. The King died with the end of the 200. Over priced and STILL underwhelming! Although you do get WIRED apple car play and android auto. So that's a bonus.
It died with the 100 series 1hdfte, the 200 was just life support. The best 4wds ever made were produced from around 1998-2006 (both Toyota and Nissan). Materials were cheap and competition at an all time high which pushed manufacturers to build the best. Those cars were over engineered and built to last. The amount of parts available and self servicing is insane with the older 4wds compared to today's modern 4wds which clog up with egr and dpf in less than 30,000km.
