@@unyotv1107 Toyota will definitely fix it. They’re all about making sure that they’re Brand and image stays above all the others. I’d contact Toyota directly also. All said it’s still a really good truck but that year model is the first year model. I would definitely get rid of it and get you a 2024 because they’ve worked out those kinks already. The only recalls they’re having now are nothing major with the engine. There were recalls on the last generation as well.

@armandoyourpersonaljeweler7558 I still wouldn't either. Dealers are swapping engines on 2024s also... trucks that didn't even make it the first oil change. Alot of technicians are leaving Toyota because they aren't paying them enough to do all their work either. The United States division Toyota is in for huge trouble.

I so wanted a new Tundra to replace my 2007 Titan. My Titan was awesome for 16 years, but I like Toyota too. After trying to buy a Tundra in 2022, 2023 and 2024, I gave up because the financial terms weren't good. Ended up buying a new Titan Pro-4x, and my gawd, am I ever so glad I did. FR I did the same with the Tacoma. Shopped around for a Taco, as I'm a fan with two other Toyota vehicles, but the prices were ridiculous compared to the Frontier. I ended up buying a used 2019 Frontier 4X4 Midnight with 13K miles for $28K while used Tacos were going for around $43K+ with hella miles. Best decision I've made, the Frontier is basic, reliable, dependable and cheap. It's truly a bare bones truck. Everybody sleeps on Nissan trucks.

@@RiZZOBE4R Nissan has always made a better truck. Always. Going back to Datsun, the gem of the 90s hardbodies, and even the Frontier through all these recent years. Nissan trucks, especially with a manual, are at least just as good, actually better in my opinion, than any Toyo or Taco ever put out. Toyo makes some great stuff, but they've been overrated by fanboys, and Nissan take a hit because of their CVT cars. But yea, Nissan trucks are absolutely solid, and I prefer people sleep on them so they don't jack the prices up like Toyota.

Sounds like the usual crankshaft bearing failure issue with these Tundra twin-turbo engines (mostly years 2022-2023 so far). They replace the twin turbos because any parts that would have oil flowing through them could have been damaged by the metal fragments that were found in the oil pan. Toyota is having dealers replace the short block (essentially the engine block, crankshaft, and pistons, plus other components). This probably does not include the heads, intakes, starter, alternator, and other items bolted to the engine.

Someone recently posted an excellent video, explaining that the oil path probably is blocked only in regard to oil that travels to the very first crankshaft bearing and oil to the first connecting rod bearing. This would explain why in some videos only the front crankshaft bearing was destroyed. The other bearings still received oil and survived. Either way, this kind of "error" is very strange for a company that is supposed to be a superior product. I am hopeful to see someone in the future proves this engine went 200k miles with no issues.

Similar reasons I purchased a 2022 Lexus RX - last RX model year with a v6 engine. The 2023 and newer have a turbo 4 cylinder and although they haven’t had dramatic breakdowns like in the new Tundra, people are complaining of engine noise while the naturally aspirated V6 is smooth, responsive, proven, and fun to drive. I have always been suspect of the Toyota trucks form the old T100 days when they claimed to have a full size truck but powered it with an I4 or small V6 and with very limited towing capability. It always looked to me like a small pickup with a bigger sounding badge. Fast forward to the last generation of Tundras and I finally came around and agreed they were on par with the Big 3 makers' big trucks. Unfortunately, Toyota seems to be going backwards with this latest setup. Sad to see them wasting a great reputation.

it's actually both partie's fault the turbos on those things arent just little regular turbos, they're these MAASSSIVE turbos that they put on those things, giving alot more pressure than your average turbo and the engine's fault too, its built too weakly without seemingly any form of reinforcement, so they recieve too much pressure to handle from the turbos and they die, it's the equivalent of supercharging a small displacement non-reinforced engine

This is not just happening with new tundras and tacos. I bought a brand new 2022 Tacoma at the end of 2021. I was happy because it was my first time buying a new car. It was Saturday night when I left the dealership driving my new truck. On Sunday afternoon the transmission did the same noise and bump like your tundra and all the lights came on and it never turned on. They gave another brand new Tacoma the next day, but anyways they screwed me up because now my new Tacoma has an $10k negative equity because they replaced it as a trade in. So I ended up buying 2 brand new trucks in 2 days. After that, I never had any problem with the other Tacoma but after 2 years I ended up trading it for a 2023 Silverado. @@donaltemus3565 As someone who hates this new turbo v6 also, I disagree. I can almost guarantee that the vast majority of people didn't say a thing. Mainly because the typical buyer, especially someone who can afford a platinum hybrid, will not even know to do so. Maybe a look up online of "is toyota tundra reliable/good/etc". Toyota should be held liable and issue a recall. Their brand reputation to the average person who doesn't care all that much into cars/engines is in jeopardy if they do not treat these customers well. This is why you should always finance thru the manufacturer. You have leverage. Tell them you’re not going to pay while they’re holding the note. Give it time people will do this and Toyota will have to not mark them as late because they cannot toss more fuel on their own fire. NO ONE is a bigger Toyota fan than me. They got greedy, the manufacturer said average transaction needs to be over 50k. They’re putting out total garbage. Hold their feet to the fire. Don’t pay , and see what happens.

I’m on a 2023 Toyota Tacoma 4 x 4. I have not taken it off road but to make a long story short I went in for my 10 K check up and I told him that I was having some transmission slippage or something wasn’t right. Well turns out that the torque converter was bad so now I am without a vehicle 10,000 miles on a 2023 Toyota Tacoma and the torque converter is bad. Supposedly the one they have ordered is one that has been modified should I say updated but I don’t know if I trust that. I had a 2010 Toyota Tacoma I had 348,000 miles on that truck I wish I kept it. im not advocating for Toyota at all and clearly you should be able to reliably drive a car rough without fear of something breaking especially a brand new car. That being said flooring it will only cause more damage than regular use and if you want your car to last years and years dont drive them hard unless at absolutely necessary times. It amazes me how many people go from 0 to 30 or 40 mph in like 5 seconds just to stop at the red light under a quarter mile away.

Toyota does not pay their techs for an engine tear down or a diagnostic on it when the car is under warranty. They only pay for replacing. So the tech is not going to waste his whole day tearing a motor down for free. He has a family to feed. Plus, that tech got maybe got paid 25hrs for that job and he worked on it the whole week and only go home with a 25hr check.
@cawtaba44

They have to tear it down to find the failure and to diagnose what parts need replacing. The teardown report is sent to Toyota for approval prior to rebuild. That was a flat out lie
@SikIS300T
@SikIS300T 5 месяцев назад
@cawtaba44 not necessarily. When we've done the LS500 motors that they lock up. We take the motor out, tell lexus hey the crank is locked up, and there's a piece of bearing coming out the crank seal. We sent them pictures, and they sent us the new block. The complete tear down Toyota/Lexus does that. We have to ship out the old parts to them, and then there R&D will find the failure.
@jimmyaber5920
@jimmyaber5920 26 дней назад
@cawtaba44 NO. With a known failure and well established cost to repair, they have instructions for repair. Engines made in automated processes (robotic) are hugly more expensive to repair at dealer labor rates and often with bad results. A new short block, or long block if heads are affected, is cheaper and quicker back to customer. When I first started as a dealer tech in mid 70s we fixed everything but the components were not manufactred the way they are now. We replaced a/c compressor seals but new compressors were $425 in 1975 money for a chevy truck that was $6200 sticker. Some things are still dealer rebuilt but crankshaft bearings that spun in an aluminum block is not one.

I don't care who makes turbos. No manufacture is immune to issues with these. Fords ecobooms and chevy eco turds. I am not a fan of turbos. You are taking a smaller engine and adding more pressure and forced air and heat in to the engine which puts stress on it. I know there will be people who boast they have a turbo with over 200,000 miles. Good for you. There are always exceptions. Overall my take on them is more maintenance and eventually they burn oil and have carbon buildup.They are more complicated which means way more expensive repairs if and when it breaks. If you get a turbo you better change the oil every 3000 miles. I will not buy a turbo unless forced too. I will stick with aspirated engines until the end.

You want reliability on a turbo? For one start running higher octane fuel. These direct injection engines don’t have strong enough bottom ends for the boost they’re producing. Higher octane will reduce detonation and improve engine life. Next is install aftermarket water injection. This will further reduce detonation and secondly it will actually help keep the intake manifold clear by practically steam cleaning it. The last one is to keep using synthetic oils, the oil coming out of a turbo charger is trying to lubricate something spinning at 50,000 rpm at idle, it looks like creamed coffee coming out of a turbocharger. I also recommend an external oil cooler to increase oil capacity and assist it in staying cool. I drove a turbocharged acura integra GS-R around for years on its stock aluminum block by following those tips

That 4wd break was one occasion on TFL truck. I have reason to believe it was a sheer pin built into the front end that was designed to fail before anything else broke. It could have also been a part that was defective. The turbo 2.4 they’re using was already a well proven engine in several different models including a Lexus before they dropped it in the Tacoma. If you have concerns about engine life I suggest you run higher than recommended 87 octane fuel and you install aftermarket water injection to prevent engine failure
