The FXD is great watch and a pure Tudor design. Tudor has to be careful and not have too many homage pieces like the Black Bay Pro. My favorite part of the FXD is it's a watch that Rolex would never make any more because it's a true tool watch.
Scott (Watchistry) is the man! Great review… huge fan of Tudor too and even bigger fan of these FXDs. Could write a long winded essay about mine (black) but it’s the perfect watch for me.
I love Tudor but they really should have made Scott (Watchistry) a brand ambassador. His book is a real tribute not only to the Snowflake Submariner but also the combat swimmers. I bought the MN FXD for the same reason I purchase an old 1969 Smiths - I love military watches. Part of the charm with the FXD is that I don’t have to baby it. This watch has an incredible story. Photos never quite capture the French blue of the FXD - it’s not saturated like the original Pelagos. Despite this, Tudor should release a METAS certified version. Still, I’m content to have a watch used to bust up criminals on the high seas.
There isn’t a thing I’d change on this watch except the dial and bezel colour, only b/c I have the original blue Pelagos and the aesthetic here is too similar for me to rationalize having both. But, I love the idea of the fixed bars for when I’m in the water. I’ve lost a watch when the band was snagged on something and a spring bar ripped free and have been paranoid ever since. The day they make the FXD in another colour my AD is getting a call.
Lovely watch. Agree re a smaller size being preferable - although purely to wear as a watch. 39-40mm is my sweet spot generally. That said, as a dive instrument, 42mm plus actually makes sense, so I can respect that from a design/functionality perspective.
I wouldn't make it my first luxury dive watch purchase, but it would be a great second. I wish the regular Pelagos color was that shade of blue, and I hope they come out with a Pelagos 39 in that color too. I definitely don't need the 500m, nor He escape valve. I do like a date, but I can see why it would be pointless on this specific watch.
If they come out with the 39 in this shade of blue my guess is it will have the same shiny finish to the bezel and dial and I’m not sure if that’ll look as good
The Pelagos FXD actually wears smaller than the 42mm size would suggest. And because it’s Titanium it wears very light and comfortable. Love the reverse countdown- I find it extremely handy-- the bezel design for Commando Hubert navigation ops is a major part of what makes this such a unique tool watch. My daily beater- although I wouldn’t wear it surfing…lost too many watches in heavy waves.
@@craftandtailored He thinks it’s terrible because his AD wouldn’t sell him one 😂 I love my FXD, Pelagos 39 and Submariner 124060 because my AD offered to sell me these at retail. 😅👍
@@austinzizzi1142 its a tough question... if I had to keep one, then the FXD. It just feels more special and the closest modern equivalent to the Tudor Snowflake.
