Quick FAQ for some of the questions that people may have :) (Answers are from the best of my knowledge and from what I could find to be publicly available) ⁃ As of 2022, U of T still does not require CASPer ⁃ You no longer need to worry about taking a full course load with U of T’s new GPA calculation method. But you do need to be a full time student for your grades from that year to count. ⁃ It is likely that U of T will still be using an MPI style of interview this coming year ⁃ There are no official weights given to each part of the application cycle. This is different than for a school like McMaster for example where undergraduate GPA is specifically stated to be worth 32% of your application pre interview. The best you can do with U of T is meet all the requirements and then be as competitive as possible in each individual category 🤞 ⁃ The graduate stream is thought by many to be a separate stream from the undergraduate stream and therefore you should only (in theory) be compared to other graduate applicants.

Omg I love your videos can you please make a video about chances of international students and also some of dentistry schoo plssss. Also do you know if taking 4 courses per semester would be fine ? For dentistry school not medical school since I tried to contact different school such as ubc and Alberta they did not respond me
In the beginning you mentioned how 6 percent did not have a degree and you said you would follow up on that. Now Idk if I missed it but I would like to know what the circumstances for those student to get into med school. ty

Hey GianLuca and the comment section. If anyone can help, what undergrad program do you think is the best/most popular offered by U of T considering they took so many of their own undergrad students into med school too. I can only think of Life Sci, what else? Hope someone can help!
Avoid going to UofT. It only appears that they took their own undergrad students because UofT is one of the biggest schools in the country. The most important thing for med schools is your GPA. While your ECs and MCAT can be worked on, your GPA will be near impossible to improve, after your third-year. Try to go to the easiest school (marks the easiest, not least competitive) and into the easiest program (courses with the most leniency). McMaster and Queens' Health Sci program are good options. York's Kin program is apparently pretty good as well.
Hi Aariz :) What I can say from experience and after working with many students now is that medical school admissions do not favor particular schools or programs, but rather how well you do in regards to your GPA. A 3.95 from York for example beats a 3.63 from U of T or anywhere else almost every single time. Please see my video on my favorite premed programs if you are interested - it'll explain in more detail. Ideally you want something that you are interested in, will help prepare you for the MCAT, will allow for extracurricular experiences and that you can do well in. All the best!
I'm going to play devil's adovocate. U of T grad here. Yes it's hard. It's arguably the best university in Canada and one of the best in the world. It attracts academics from all corners of the globe in every field. I would be more concerned if it wasn't hard. That being said, it's not impossible to do well. And schools are shifting to more holistic views that include looking at global academic merit beyond just your grades. The upper years at U of T in life science in my personal experience were worlds apart from the first two. Not only was it easier to do well (profs on your side), but the content was far more interesting, and there was more opportunity. IMO going to U of T was a privilige. I know a lot of my friends didn't have the choice of picking a university back home because of finances, so being able to go there I was thanksful to say the least. I also apprecaite the myriad of experiences I gained come the end of my time there which make me stand out on the ABS side of things :)
I'm a bit confused about the OMAS gpa scale, does it correspond to the CGPA? I understand it as an average of all course grades based off of the grading scale your university uses, but how is the weight for each course calculated?
Is it possible to match into surgical residency ( orthopedics ) in UofT for an IMG? How much of MCCQE is good enough to match into orthopedics residency?
Hi :) This is directly from the U of T website: " beginning July 1, 2022, only the raw admissions GPA will be used for the MD admissions consideration. The raw admissions GPA is calculated using all undergraduate course grades obtained on a full-time basis during fall, winter, and/or spring/summer semesters (e.g., you are taking 60% or more of a full course load). The MD admissions committee will no longer calculate nor consider the weighted GPAs."
@@user-nu6ff8ot4t I went there for CS and hated it. Not worth it. Maybe for medicine its good. Make sure to search the requirements because sometimes they have POSt requirements. Thats means even if you get into UofT, if you dont meet certain requirements, you cant be in the program you enrolled for.
