Send help. HOW DO OPEN THE ENDS of the cross bars?!!! I’m desperate!! I bought them for my 2022 Taos and I’m at a loss

Do you know how much bigger tires can you mount before it rubes, I bought one S model last week with the same wheels you did, the tires 225/55r17 , I will like biger AT tires with out installing the lift kid, I was hoping I cN fit 225/65r17 but that might be too much, what do you think?
