Atleast he is honest about tuning. I'm learning about tuning right now and pro tuners want you to think it's some special magic but really it's just all about knowing what you're looking at and how to read it properly and making changes based on your logs. Timing, boost, air, fuel, knock. And of course, knowing when enough is enough so you don't overdo it. I'm getting a practice car soon to work with before I work with my 2022 wrx.

Exactly. They are basically giving away free information which makes our community better. It also allows the humanity of these guys to shine through. We've all heard the stories where you go get a protune and don't even see / talk to the tuner. It feels so distant.

Great interview! I have a question in regard to the FMIC. Is there a rule, or guide to what thickness IC you should get? At some point you start loosing PSI because the tiny turbo can’t move enough air through the cores. Where is the balance point?

I love this series! Please keep them coming. My question is: What are the downfalls of the stock tune. Is a pro tune really needed for a happy engine life like previous years (ej's cough). I'm wanting to stay stock as long as I can however I don't want to harm the engine by doing so. Part 2: What are the "warranty" friendly must have modifications for reliability on this platform?

That's hilarious! I worked at a Fry's Electronics myself for almost 6 years. When I started I was a "shelf stocker" and remember flying all of those RC helicopters all day during the holiday months. I'm pretty sure I have a video of it in my channel somewhere! Then I did sales for 5 years in a row and bought my first WRX back when I worked there. 2011-2017. Good ol' days lol

Dude I got laid off from my IT job. My friend's friend was a manager at Fry's. He hired me to just play with the helicopters in the middle of the store till I found a new job. I worked my first ever black Friday in retail at Fry's. I single handedly sold almost our entire helicopter stock. Also for that year our store beat every store nationally in remote control toy sales. To this day my greatest retail achievement.

Great series and great info. I would like to see where you do some timed pulls from 40-80 etc. These pulls are better to show the pure power of the car and also where were we use the power. 0-60 etc has too much to do with the cars launching ability. As we all know, the wrx gets so much traction it bogs or you dump the clutch at such high rpms you damage the transmission or clutch in a short period of time. Maybe get JR tuned for the next session.

These are great. Got a couple of the big gun tuners right out of the gate! My question is: for those of us driving in temperate climates, sometimes we drive in zero degree weather and sometimes in 90 degree weather. Can a tuned car handle fluctuations in temperature as well as a stock one? Also, does it matter what the air temp is when we get it tuned? Will a car tuned on a 80 degree day lose it if you send it on a 10 degree day? (In comparison to the stock tune)

For the next tuner talk. I have a few questions: At 340-350whp 93 tunes , what max psi are we getting ? 2. Is there any info on deleting secondary cat and resonator that provide the power that aftermarket Jpipes are providing when tuned, being drunkmann stated we aren’t gaining much whp adding Jpipes. Maybe that power can be achieved leaving the primary cat and deleting the rest? which would alleviate some cost ($1300) of buying the full Jpipe ..for 10whp..?

@@xtrekrex these are great ideas. There are some ideas. I could post just these somewhere on a podcast site the same time I post the videos. I did a 1k mile break in in about 7 days and I could feel a massive difference in driving on the first 500 miles but then again at 750 and I thought I was set after that. But I just hit 1500 miles about 3 weeks later and I just started to get that deep boxer sound out of my car now. So as someone who hasn’t ever drivin a new car and I got mine at 6 miles on the dash fresh of the truck. I have noticed a hugeeeee difference in babying the car as I slowly push it harder and harder and I maxed my boost at 13lbs stock and I havent red lined yet been close 5kto5.5k at the most. I’m not saying doing the break in will make your car better but does it really hurt anything by just letting all of your parts get settled in by doing light to medium to heavy/hard use thrown into this 1k break in mix? But if you plan on modding these it doesn’t matter (not saying you guys are wrong love everything y’all do)
