Havent been feeling well so decided to make a CHILL ( literally) video of me just driving around the town. We had a night of snow, about 3 inches, and its always fun to throw on the snow tires on my 2022 WRX and just cruise around. I have Bridgestone Blizzak WS90s that I used on my 2021 WRX. This is their second season, total mileage on them is only about 500 so they still have fantastic snow tread left. The 2022 WRX does a great job with its all wheel drive and snow tires to really plant the car and make it very predictable. If you have snow in your area ( even without AWD) you owe it to yourself to get a set of good snow tires. It makes a HUGE difference.

Got my WRB Premium last week. I've been wanting a WRX for a long time and its actually acceded my expectations. I cant believe just how solid and smooth it is. Cool vid BTW, we don't get much fun weather like that in NC.

Oh man you can't go wrong with WRB! My '21 was WRB with gold wheels..I kept it classic! Well maybe you can go hit a dirt track. It's just as fun ☺️

@@HeavyMetalWRX Yes, the gold wheels are in the near future. I fell in love with the WRX playing Gran Turismo on PS1 and PS2. (yes Im old) Im trying to figure out how to incorporate a yellow 555 graphic on the car without being tacky lol.

@@diallo1347 I'm in the Snadhills but these cars were built for mountain roads. Just about everyone that lives in The Alps in Europe drives a Subaru if that tells you anything. RU-vid search "WRX in the mountains" you will see.

Hey! So far I haven't experienced anything like that. Once traction control is off the tires spin with little regard to traction 😂. I experienced this during a drag race on a slightly wet surface. TC was fully off, tires slipped and the car was doing a crab walk haha

We had a ice storm a couple weeks ago, I still have summer tires so I had to be careful but it was fun sliding around lol I am new to manual though so I am nervous to really push it yet.

Man I wish we got more snow. This year we got a few snow days but it's been less than 5inches 😭😭. Id love to get my hands on a WRX TR.

If you’ve had any heavy snow, does the AWD inspire confidence? I have studded snows on my Accord, but I find with an open differential, I’m not too comfortable on heavy snowfall driving. Especially in New England where I live. This is in my sights for a new car just for AWD alone.

I'm not sure about snow, but I got in a bad accident in an audi a4 3 years ago in the rain, I haven't driven in the rain until this week that I picked up my 2022 wrx. That fear was non existant yesterday in heavy rain. Lot of confidence 👌🏼

As a canadian and a previous VA owner yes. I currently have a 4x4 ram and when i can go back to awd with snows i will be. Its by far the best set up for snow and ice driving period.

How would your tires compare to the Michelin X Ice tires? Got a set of WRX 17" wheels and tires for 120 bucks!

Oh wow! Depends on how much tread is left. Snow tires have a special compound for 10-12k miles that is specially designed for super low temps and water. Once that tread is gone they are still good in the snow but the effect is lessened. I'm not sure how the X Ice are but id say they are comparable if they have that special layer like Blizzaks do.

Blizzaks are amazing, I DD a '07 Mustang GT and the handling in up to 5" of snow is amazing. I can cruise along at 40-45mph in the powdery stuff 0 problems, wet gets a little dicey. Plan to get me a WRX for my next car, something fun to drive but economical too!

I was down in Florida and picked up my 22. We drove back to Missouri during that storm. The stock tires did ok. I held 80 with no problem. We will have to meet up once I get this this right

Ya, I honestly went there for the GT, and then I was sad after driving it. All I wanted was a shitbox beater that would be fun to drive back and forth to my appointments and just put miles on and get through on snow days. Traded my ram in on this premium and already put 1400 miles on it. Super fun car, for sure. When I got home there was snow, so it got tested on some missouri dirt county roads, and I put it on my SXS tack on my land. Bypassed all the jumps, but it took it all with no hesitation. Once I get a few projects out my shop, the WRX mods will begin. Lol, she's going to have a ruff life so hopefully it will hold up.

We just got our first big snow storm this winter and I realized real quick that I'm still my 22's factory summer tires... its move 2 feet and slide for 3 lol

HeavyMetalWRX: Nice videos. I have a '23 WRX and live in Chicago. I still have the summer tires on. If I swap out for snow tires and not all season, how do the snow tires perform on dry pavement on a mild winter day? Trying to decide between snow or all season. Thank you, Ryan

Hey there! That's for watching! Under 35 degrees they will feel a bit mushy but not bad. If you see only occasionally snow ( just a few days sober the course of 3-4 months) idk if snow tires would be worth it. High quality all seasons will get you through. If you get a lot of snow I would rock the snow tires as it's a pretty substantial benefit. It just depends on your weather conditions.

Any tips on slowing down in a manual car when there is low traction? I sometimes find that slowing down and going to neutral makes it so ABS kicks in more easily

@@HeavyMetalWRX I didn't purchase the top quality in term of tires cuz my budget restraint me this years, i will try some Kumho Wintercraft Ice Wi31 studded. I wanted Nokian Hakkapelita 10, but hey are so expensive. It cost me 900$ Canadian Dollars in total and have great review so i gave them a chance ahah

Anyway in Canada it's illegal to have those tire after 1st december, i mean where i lived wich is in Quebec. Next years i will purchase some Michelin Pilot Sport 4S with new rims. I will lyk how my winter tire gonna perform when we gonna got some snow

The only thing I would do differently is get some dedicated snow wheels. Swapping out the tires between summer and winter is costly and damages the tire walls. But I also would never get all season.

I have a set of aftermarket wheels with summers on them. I just swap the wheels when it's about to snow.

Hey can you do a video of how you take care of the car after a time of driving in the snow and salt? I’m from Florida and drove in the Smokies with my 2022 this past weekend, got caught in a really fun snow storm and got to test the Subarus capabilities on the stock tires lol but was wondering if there are any tricks when it comes to dealing with the salt.

As soon as we got to Georgia, I found her car wash station and sprayed underneath and the whole car really good. I put a ceramic coat on before heading to Tennessee, so I’m sure that protected the paint just fine

Appreciate it! These are actually the stock 22 WRX wheels with Blizzak ws90s 245/40/18. I just used the same size as the oem tire. It works so damn well. I can't wait for it to snow again and I will do a reprised video.

@@felixlaboy1453 I would suggest the used market. Look for 2015-2021 WRX wheels either 17 or 18inch. They are always available and usually less than $500 for a set of 4. That would be my suggestion.

I'd say if you're looking for a fun performance car this would be good. Now city has mileage isn't great on these so if that is a priority I would look at the Civic SI. It'll be a bit slower and FWD...but you'll get better gas mileage.

The snow tires are only good for low, low temps or snow. I actually don't even like running them at 40f if it's a clear day and sunny because they are very squishy.
