I feel like I should get college credit for watching your reviews and processes. Very thorough. I will look like a pro when my boat finally gets delivered lol.
This is a great example of what's involved in just going boating. Some people think you just show up and jump on it and have fun but there is so much before and after. Getting it out and putting it away is a whole another video I'm sure ⭐👍
You are a brilliant man. You got this whole load up system down with out having your wife involved! This will save your marriage from unnecessary stress 😂. The nest camera in the storage unit is a great idea.
Great video! Just love that beast of a Yamaha jet boat. I have a 16 SX192, and have loved it for almost 6yrs, but I am in the process of getting into a bigger Yamaha. You got to love it! Enjoy and be safe out there!
I’m only offering advice for the future. When you can minimize the amount of power needed for loading and unloading you save all ramp users the ramp debris that causes damage to all motor boat drive systems. Go in deeper and try to use idle only power. It’s protective of all equipment and all nearby people too.
It’s Mead I bet there was only 5 feet of concrete ramp left to drive on under the water. Everything was so low. A lot of the ramps don’t have any ramp left in the water lol.
Should have backed the truck up further and pushed the boat off by hand. Just have your family stand on the dock and hold a line attached to the boat while you park your truck. Let’s not prolong the process, just pull the boat up to the dock via the line, jump in, and get off the dock quickly. Never start a boat in less than three feet of water especially a jet boat. When you tie your boat up to the dock you want to use a figure 8 on the cletes with your lines. Cross the two safety chains under the tongue. Don’t ever leave the helm of your boat with it in forward or reverse. All passengers should be wearing pfds.
One very minor observation. When hitching the boat to the truck we cross-cross the chains when hooking them to the truck underneath the hitch. That way if the trailer comes off the hitch the chains will catch it and keep it from dragging on the road.
Great video!! I am about to turn 32 abs I have ar190 along with a jetski. I live in south Florida and honestly even if I had money I don’t think I could own a big ass boat like this in salt water. I have to wash my boat after every ride and it sucks a lot. I think the biggest boat I could own in salt water is ar212 unless I would pay someone to wash it every time. I love your boat abs that Cummins😁 great video
Always cross the safety cables. It makes a cradle for the tongue of it comes off. And I believe the hitch you have, it is designed to be left in the down position when coming down on the ball, it will raise and lock it self back down letting you know that it is secure.
Both your videos for this boat were very well done. Did you grease the jet bearings yourself at the 10 hour interval? Or did you have the dealer do it?
Nicely done. An I/O is way easier. I get that it's a jet boat, but no neutral is crazy to me. And I've never seen anyone dock a boat like that unless in a slip. Not knocking you at all. If it works for you all good. Nice truck and boat my friend!
Excellent work demonstrating Yamaha's industrial design philosophy. Have you towed it up to Tahoe yet, those superchargers will be nice at altitude. Just a heads up, I replaced the Fulton XLT winch with a Fulton F2 2-speed winch and it made a world of difference at my local ramp (Lake Nacimiento). What dealer did you use in LV, thinking about the same ride as I don't currently have a Yamaha.
Great video. But I was surprised you were on the lake at night! Was it pitch black and you used the instruments to navigate like and airline pilot? Not sure im brave enough to do that, seems dangerous. We have a 2020 242xe; she is excellent.
Here it is. CURT 48012 Pintle Hitch with 2-5/16-Inch Trailer Ball, Fits 2-1/2-Inch Receiver, 20,000 lbs, 15-Inch Length, Black www.amazon.com/dp/B01BMO7EHY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_SKNP4F764M55B2XFV3FA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Don't use the torque wrench to take nuts off. I've learned that could damage the torque reading when using it to properly set torque values. Besides that thank you for the video. It makes me feel more comfortable with the idea of owning a boat. Do you know the full weight of trailer with the boat all loaded and ready to go? And tongue weight?
I don't know the weight. I estimate it around 8000. My truck can pull 22,000 lbs with conventional hitch with 2000 lbs tongue weight, so I never bothered to weigh this rig. The hitch I use is rated to 20,000 lbs.
Can you please tell the name of youre hitch receiver or a link where you bought it, seems pretty cool. Is it hight adjustable? Also does your trailer have reverse lights? Thanks.
This is the hitch. It is not adjustable. No reverse lights on my trailer. CURT 48012 Pintle Hitch with 2-5/16-Inch Trailer Ball, Fits 2-1/2-Inch Receiver, 20,000 lbs, 15-Inch Length a.co/d/fEIxDpr
Good job!. The only thing would do differently is that I don’t have passengers in the vehicle with when I’m backing up. There are far too many videos of people loosing their vehicles at the ramp. Having someone in the vehicle specially kid could add to stress of launching.
I've never seen it taught in this manor. A stiff wind on wake on the bow and it can turn parallel to the dock. docking to one you simple throw a line over the clean from in the boat to insure you have a hold on the dock before you jump off. not to mention it would be immensely faster and you wont be holding up the dock as long.
@@chevy4x466it’s possible. But those plates wouldn’t look that good for being 40 years old. In Nevada, plates are kept with the RO and put on a new vehicle, they don’t stay with the vehicle like in CA. If you sell your vehicle you take the plates off, and either transfer them to a new vehicle, or returned to the DMV. And I say they wouldn’t look good for being 40 years old is because that style was originally issued then. An owner can still keep using them if they are still in good condition. His are the new issue replica ones that came out about 2 years ago. The originals were issues in 1982. So he has brand new plates for the truck, with that it would be impossible for them to be expired for only more than a year at that time. But yes, a new truck can have 20+ year expired plates.
Yes, Yamaha manual says that you can run the engine dry for upto 20 seconds without water. Also, you should never exceed 4000 rpm on land with, or without water hose.
After reversing to the dock, I was surprised you kept the engines running while in reverse and then stepped off. I would have just turned off the engines and stepped of the back. I hate the idea of the engines running while off the boat.
I know it seems strange, but that's how you dock heavy boats solo. Most pros will tell you that you never step off a boat with engine off near a dock, unless it's tried down. Here's a good example ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EABLOWzveBY.html You can fast forward to 13:00 to see the actual docking.
Man your video was great. RU-vid though. Playing ads every 3 minutes. I know it's election season yet again but dang it. And most I couldn't skip. Makes it painful to use the platform.
Those engines can suck up a baseball sized rock from 6' deep. You used way too much throttle for that shallow. My method is to back up the trailer so the boat floats off and use the lines to bring her to the dock. Power loading and power unloading is NOT the way to launch and retrieve a vessel.
No issues. My truck's maximum towing with bumper hitch is 22,000 lb.(32,000 lb) with 5th wheel hitch. I would definitely use a weight distribution hitch if towing with a quarter-ton truck.
By the way, I checked with the Yamaha dealer if I could have the "X" added to my "SD". They said that it is possible, but would cost about $15,000. Seems a bit much. I'll just dock the old fashioned way. If I was buying a new boat today though, I would definitely go for SDX version. Nice pick!.
@@JimMedeirosRaleigh Ram 3500. I install the 5th wheel hitch only when we tow our camper. The hitch I use in the video to tow the boat is rated to 20,000 lbs. The truck itself is rated to 22,000. The boat with fuel and trailer weighs around 8,600 lbs. I'll put it on the scale next month to get exact weight. F150 has a much softer rear suspension (and a much better ride) so you would need to look into a weight distribution hitch to make sure you reduce the downforce on rear suspension. Too much weight on rear suspension will reduce truck's steering authority, increase the chance of jack-knifing during heavy breaking and negatively affect overall towing comfort. It will also reduce the trailer sway.
First of all, great video and your boat and truck are both beautiful. However, this feels like a huge hassle to have to go through all this to get on the water. You have a 250K rig, so clearly you’re not pressed for cash. Why not just keep it at a marina or in dry storage where they drop it in the water whenever you’re ready?
Thanks! I prefer not to keep the boat in the water permanently if I don't have to. It is not a hassle for me to tow. This is the smallest trailer I have. I own the garage where it lives, so it just makes sence to keep it there. We take the boat to other lakes as well: Mead, Mohave, and we sometimes launch on Colorado River, just bellow the Hoover Damb. All these locations offer different boating experiences.
I can’t imagine the pain that women suffers just to live with a obsesive compulsive man like that. Her face says it all. Btw, he forgot his life jacket.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy takes everyone’s shoes before they get in the truck also. Lol. I bet he doesn’t let anyone eat on “his” boat or swim or tube so they don’t get back on and drip water everywhere. Forget all that 2 hour docking procedure and just get close and let people jump on and off.
I can’t imagine the pain that women suffers just to live with a obsesive compulsive man like that. Her face says it all. Btw, he forgot his life jacket. 😂. Excelent video. 👌🏼
