The Navi at $1,850. By the time the salesman had everything on paper it was $3,500. I had to get up and walk out. The manager followed me outside and to my car. But, I told him I could not afford it. My budget was under $2,500. He wanted me to come back to his office, but I drove away.

I started out with a Honda Ruckus that I rigged up with foot pegs so I can put me feet lower and feel more like a motocycle; bought the custom full ennclosed underseat bag, put 2 saddle bags on it, plus bought the rack extension and a GIVI top case that I shared with another bike, and put a small bag on the front rack. I can fit the equivalent of 4-5 paper bags of groceries on my Ruckus, plus a couple large bags of dog food on the foot platform. I also bought the forward highway pegs the Ruckus, but prefer the rear mounted pegs. I have lashed a 54 inch wide by 3x5 inch box containing two garage door springs across the floorboard and to the highway pegs. So don't knock the Ruckus' cargo capabilities! That being said, with my payload I only get 38 but VERY FUN MPH out of it AND I rode it year round in SE Ohio for several years before replacing it with a 2022 Yamaha BWs 125 Zuma, which can reach up 62 MPH or so under ideal conditions; but I wouldn't try cruising at it. Basically, the 125 is faster with enclosed underseat storing that will hold a large full-faced helmet. I like it for its faster speed and offroad ability. Both put a smile on my face, are extremely practical; but the 125 Zuma has the greater speed, hill climbing ability and quicker range. But if you live in a flat, urban area, the Zuma is pretty golden, no doubt about that!

Thanks for this video, it’s exactly what I was looking at, these two. I like the stripped down look of the rukus but the convenience features and higher performance of the Zuma looks better overall. Really appreciate the info.

I've had my BWS125 (Zuma) for almost a week now, and I'm absolutely loving it...even more than my Honda 750. This thing is HELLA FUN, and it kinda brings out the kid in this 55 yr old. I think I got the last one in Eastern Canada...strange times. You might want to have a look at the rear shocks...for your size you probably want it adjusted to max load...I found that made a decent improvement in ride.

@@everydaybladesinc That is funny...I also picked up a 2018 PCX150 a little over a year ago. I found it to be a much more capable scoot, but it did not put a smile on my face quite like the ZUMA. I am riding a FORZA 300 now as it is highway capable, but I think I will be grabbing another ZUMA at some point.

I had a 2007 Honda Metropolitan, which is mechanically the same as a Ruckus. It was WAY too slow to ride in town. Other than residential areas, all the streets around where I live are 45 mph, and everybody goes 55-60 mph. You will get killed on a 50cc in no time. After that I had a 2012 Yamaha Zuma 125, which was ok, and worked fine in town, but I started wanting something freeway capable that wasn't the size of a Goldwing. I sold the Zuma 125 and bought a slightly used Vespa GTS300 (made BEFORE they came out with the troublesome HPE models) It will cruise at 75 mph GPS all day. Then I decided I wanted another smaller scooter for city use, and one that wouldn't attract thieves. I bought a brand new Lance Cabo 125 for $2500 OTD. It is NOT Chinese. It was made by SYM in Taiwan. It easily hits 60 mph GPS on flat roads. I have put over 4,000 miles on it both in town and on rural country roads. It has been completely trouble free. I specifically avoided the Zuma 125, not only because of the price, but because the new model has some kind of variable valve timing, which is probably unreliable and very expensive to service. Japanese bikes have come down in price some during the past year.

I'm 6'3 for reference. I've owned both of these scooters at the same time. The zuma 125 is leaps and bounds better. Although I really enjoyed the Ruckus, the Zuma 125 is just more practical. It is capable of reaching speeds of 55mph+ and has storage with Fuel Injection which the ruckus has none of. The Ruckus is unique in all ots construction but it fails in every other category with other scooters its size. It's also very small for a taller rider. Additionally the 49cc engine is gutless and cannot keep up with local traffic unfortunately. I loved it but I had to sell it due to its unpracticality. The Zuma 125 is superior and cannot be compared to the Ruckus because it is unfair to the Ruckus. Imagine trying the turn the wheel and having to split your legs wide open in to the turn the bar to steer the Ruckus and hitting your knees thus locking you out of turn. It's made for smaller people.

Thanks for the video Had the Ruckus but found it way to slow for the country roads. but other wise great bike but for the city only. Looking at getting the 2023 Yamaha BWSA125 (Zuma) Looked at the Honda Trail 125 but way to much money for what you are getting. Have a CB500X for the highway, looking for something to do the back roads and gravel roads witch are pretty gnarly hear. Also have a DR650 witch is a great bike, but really out dated by about 20 years. Had to put a 20 liter gas tank on it to get good miles per tank of gas. Not sure if going to trade the DR or just add the BWS to the stable. The DR 650 will be hard to part with. One of the most fun and enjoyable bikes to ride, But a friend is just starting in scooters and wants some one to ride with so a125 seem about right for that she wants to do all back roads.

Thanks so much for the review and comparison! I just moved back into the downtown core of my city and I'm looking for a scooter to zip around town in. I have a Honda dealer 1.25 miles away and I'm looking at all the minimoto bikes in the Honda lineup. I like the Monkey the best but it's by far the most expensive. I love the Ruckus for it's looks but it's also very expensive for what you get and my city is pretty hilly so I'm afraid it's not going to be powerful enough. There are also a lot of bridges for me to cross which I found not fun even on a 250cc motorcycle. The Navi is the best bang for the buck but like the Grom and Monkey it's more less a motorcycle rather than a scooter. I have a Vespa dealer and a Yamaha dealer about 3 miles away and half a mile away from each other. I think I'm going to have to go visit and take all of them out for a ride and comparison. Thanks again for your insight.

I like both scooters. The price is very high on both bikes. I live in Panama and am retired. I live on fixed income(very low income). Most people are broke in Panama. I live in the country side where light, small motorcycles are very popular. You will never see a Zuma or BWI in my area of Panama because of the price of it. Honda does not sell the Ruckus in Latin America. We do have the BWI and you see those in Panama City but never out in the country side. The BWI or Zuma is like the Cadillac of scooters. They are status symbols for scooter lovers. I would like to have a new one but can't afford it. I just bought a Honda Elite 125 for 2300 dollars. Its not nearly as nice as the BWI 125 but less than half the price. Honda is dependable and affordable so that is what sells right now. Honda sells several models that are less than 2000 dollars out the door here. For most folks down here its a no brainer. Honda is number one.
