I have a 2021 Kia Soul with 68k miles. It goes through a bit of oil (now about a quart between oil changes every 5-6k miles), but I’ve driven it hard, including an 8,000 mile road trip with lots of mountain driving. This car is a heck of great value and I’d buy one again.
I call the Kia Soul a "sleeper." You just wouldn't think it's a good car. But it is outstanding and I get 41mpg on the highway. Not really sure about city. It is comfortable, reliable, efficient, affordable, spacious and maintenance is minimal. Nice attention to detail. When you open the front hood it has Paul struts that take the hood to the open position. The driver and all passengers have a commanding view with tall windshield and large windows all around. My daughter has a 2022, my granddaughter has a 2022 and I just got a 2025 for myself after giving my granddaughter a 2022 Soul. As for seating. You slide into the seat. The Soul sits high. So you don't lower yourself into it. Can't say enough about the Soul. As for oil consumption. I have 36,000 on my previous 2022 and I did my own oil changes and did not see any oil consumption.
Excellent review and yes the Kia Soul is a great car. I have owned 3 Souls since the early days of the car being sold in the USA. All 3 have been a pleasure to drive, with no real problems to speak of . I keep them well maintained and follow the maintenance schedule. My latest Soul is a 2023 Soul Ex Model, that I purchased new in Aug of last year. It now has 12,656 miles on it and it is a pleasure to drive. I hate to say it but I have been hearing rumors that 2025, may be the last year of production for the very popular Kia Soul. I hope its nothing more than rumors floating around, and that the Kia Soul has many more years of production..
I’ve got a 2016 Kia soul. Unfortunately, despite scrupulous maintenance, including oil changes less than 5,000 miles and all work being done by the dealership I purchased it from, my engine went out at 46,000 miles. It had a defect that Kia knows about. They honored the warranty, paid for the tow and for my rental. They had me back on the road in 12 days, which I have learned was a very short time. Would I buy another one after this? Yup. You just can’t sneeze at their warranty program. I love how the car is laid out inside and it has hauled everything I’ve needed. It’s just the right car for me.
I had the 2011 Kia soul EX. Awesome car. Had 150,000 miles on it. I had it well maintained. Unfortunately it was stolen and found it totally trashed in a canal. 😢. I hope to purchase the 2025 Kia Soul GT WITH ALL THE EXTRAS PRETTY SOON 😊

I have heard the speakers/sound system are weak....what are your opinions on this? Many people mention that they turn them up all the way and that solves the issue.
Great review. I am looking at the Soul in the same trim. I really like it. One thing: There have been some online complaints about the non-LED headlights being too dim. What has been your experience? Thanks
Isn't there a tech pkg or something that adds LED headlights? I think I saw that on another review (altho they are reflector LED's, not projector LED's)
@ofcbob6391 I purchased mt car just before the stock at the dealers started to increase. There was not many in my area to choose from. But I think that is correct. I do remember the sales guy asking if I was interested in placing an order for one with the LED headlights and he mentioned the tech package
I've been thinking about getting one and I found an older 2010 Ignite Orange one with the 2 0 ingine andvI heard they're super reliable as well. I'm going to test drive it tomarro.
Gen 2 had direct injection. My '23 engine CVT combo much better than my '17 which got 4 mpg less and burned oil. Gave it to my daughter with the warning to check the dipstick weekly. Did she? Nah. The Gen 3 has burned no oil at all. Biggest fear is KiaBoyz. They can't steal this but they're stupid and may break my windows anyway. Maybe a red steering wheel lock and the new logo will deter them. It's a KN, right?
@@MarioDeliveries Mario, doesn't your Kia have multi-port fuel injection? That keeps the back of your valves clean, no carbon build-up. I love the warranty of 5 yrs/60K on the entire car, then another 5 yrs on the powertrain. That's unreal. I don't think I could get by with just incandescent headlights. My other car has reflector LED's, nice and white.
Does it have wind and road noise when on the HWY? I'm thinking of test driving one soon if I can find the bright blue or white with a lighter color interior.
