It's cool to know but it's not important unless you are leaving it stock.. a flat tq curve is more important than a split second peak hp or torque numbers, even the way the bike feels just sitting on it is more important than peak numbers
@@jamessnook602 I disagree. I think it's really important for me as buyer to ''KNOW'' how the bike handles, How much power it has and what the dyno looks like. Non of that is shown in todays bikes. Back in the early 80's they allways told you the hp numbers and left a pic of the dyno for you so ''YOU KNEW'' if that bike was something for you. Maybe you want a bike with more bottom end power, Maybe mid or top? You can't tell that today. And don't give me the bullshit ''Well every bike is the same today''. They are not.
Horse powers from 52 to 54. Torque from 32 to 35. Weight from 234lbs to 245 lbs. Dang all these bikes are so close in all the numbers all that matters is what feels good to you.
For those asking about Suzuki, they aren’t sending bikes for shootouts anymore and as we all know haven’t changed in a long time. It’s a great bike for weekend warriors and can be found for very affordable prices. As a racer, there are better options but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad bike.
@@BAYAREAMX Suzuki may opt out of sending a bike, but that shouldn’t stop a leading publication from including every main manufacture in the test. They can easily get a bike to test.
@@MegaStreet11 sure but why include a manufacture that doesn’t want to participate and why include a bike that’s 10 years old? There is no publication on earth that’s gonna rate it higher than last place.
@@BAYAREAMX include it because readers want to hear about it, hence all the comments about why they didn’t include it. Also that iteration came out in 18 and the Kawasaki is almost as old. The Yamaha would have been BNG for the same amount of time had they not came out with a new version in 23. It’s lazy not to include it.
Kawis are very fun to ride. But terrible to own. They dismantle themselves within months. Engine life is minimal. Gear box is apparently made out of plastic. And expensive to repair. I wouldn't buy a Kawasaki. Yamaha, Gas Gas or KTM are the smart choices.
@@chalo212 I'm not seeing that. I put around 150 hard hours on my 22 model before getting a fresh one. It was still going great. Just pulled the head of my new one at 30hrs. To check it and port/ polish the head. It still has 95% of the hone marks in the cylinder. Last six hrs we put on that thing was hard-core dune riding too. Gonna throw some new rings on it and keep on keeping on. Probably won't pull it back apart till 80hrs. Maintenence wins most of the time.
Polished head. Xtrig clamps. Computer tuned. Full fmf exhaust. It runs good. The stock showa forks were great even before the clamps. Sprung and valved for my weight with the clamps they are dang smooth.
Finally someone does a real shootout with testing different maps on the bikes! Also not picking a bike cause you ride it as your daily bike like others say.. good reviews!
Great point . This is how a REAL shootout should be done. This shootout took into consideration the superiority of Yamaha's MAP system and how easy it is to adjust .

Then proceeds this year to say how much better the Yamaha is this year over last years model to only give it 2nd again when Kawasaki didn’t make any changes at all.. completely stupid thinking..🤣
@@mxr248 The new 2023 YZ450F even in stock form has more power than the new 2023 KXSR , it has full KYB suspension and a superior mapping system that's handlebar mounted (Kawi doesn't even have a handlebar mounted system yet) and the stock YZ450F is THOUSANDS cheaper and Vital and Swap Moto STILL vote KX . Those two are just not being honest at all . Dirt rider is honest .
@@herbcanter2114 exactly my thoughts to.. Mosiman is another one.. always makes crap up about the Yamaha and always picks KTM even when they handle like crap. Even the year all the pros had issues he says it’s so much better than all other bikes and even Yamaha when clearly it’s been a great bike for quite sometime. They even pick one bike that only does one really good thing over the Yamaha that many have said it’s good on many points. 🤷♂️

MXA says '23 KTM 450SXF makes 59.4hp of usable smooth power. Can't beat new Gen KTMs in my opinion! Tons usable power & engines that last 150hrs under rave conditions.
A cable clutch dirt bike revving to the moon to get it's power with the lowest tank capacity, lowest torque and one of the highest weights took first place. Then they tried to claim the exceedingly high revs have no cost to durability.. I guess they're measuring durability based on professional racing performance where motors get rebuilt every 10 hours or less. Otherwise it's definitely not true for the average consumer
Kawi is proven to be good, Yamaha hasn’t had much time to have been proven a good bike, but if you are just getting back into riding, I’d look at Suzukis, they are kick start but you won’t have to worry about the hassle of a battery and they are cheap
They have had a million dollar lawsuit from many people getting killed in their cars and they haven’t had the money to afford a new bike so the plan is there won’t be a new bike for 2024 BUT there will be a 2024.5 factory edition that will be updated and have electric start and I’m guessing the stock 2025 will have those changes
Most riders left fork height stock at 7mm. However, a few lowered to 5mm and one even to 2.5mm. Plenty of room to gain some stability if that's what you're looking for. Thank you for tuning in! 👍
@ClarkStar866 thx, Just rode mine stock, i was at 103 7mm but i think I'll go to 5mm. Little sketchy sometimes in fast areas with breaking bumps or rutts. But was just my first day, break in and on a sand track that i don't know.
they are giving away the gas gas right now because if the old style frame I assume ..I know someone who just got a new one for $7500..if your looking for a new 450 look into the gas gas

Why? Why? Why does Yamaha keep ignoring the 300cc two stroke enduro market?! Just bought a Beta 300RR to complement my Yamaha WR 450. I would have preferred to have another Yammie but nooooo. They could easily sell a 300 2T in droves.
Yamaha is known for example in the jet ski world to follow behind the innovators like seadoo. So with that said the 300 will not happen in my opinion. But I do believe one day you will have a fuel injected 2 stoke 250 with electric start like the new KTM bikes. 2 to 3 more years if the economy does not collapse first.
@@iAmUrTeti It’s not the carb it’s the gas my boy and you have to change jetting for different elevations etc . The ethanol in gas wreaks havoc on carbs and they can get clogged up in as little as two to three months . Then you have to do a full carb clean just to ride it.
@@woodysrockspyro6436 Not absolutely necessary you mean but the Yamaha's is so much more advanced and helpful to the riders. A night and day difference , being able to switch maps on the fly with a handlebar setup and being able to adjust everything by a smart phone app using a slider is AMAZING .
