There have been a few of these over the years from other RU-vidrs, but I have to say this is probably one of the better ones. Looks very durable compared to some of the cardboard ones I’ve seen. Always a treat watching what kind of shenanigans you get in to!
Build a see-saw, and put one of these equidistant from the Fulcrum on each side. Fire up the Forge, and let the kids play See-Saw. I'm also pondering what kind of expansion one can get if one of these is fully sealed while not completely filled, and left in the direct sun. Might get a bit warm for the adhesive, though. It WOULD make a lovely displacer or piston for a Stirling engine, too!
Ingenious reusing of stuff laying around and a lot of gaffer tape. Also, it's a little bit of time travel as we got the concertina pump before making the bellow used for it 🙂
Gorilla tape is amazing, bends forever, sticks like nothing else. I used it outside to attach a thin film antenna around a steel box, it's been out for 3 years rain/sun/snow, still looks like the day I put it on. Excellent bellows build!
Brilliant stuff, how on earth can you find random but very different and unique ideas for things to build, and then build them like it's your day job? 😂
The "Gaffer" is the chief electrician on a movie set, who goes around doing things like taping down electrical cords so they can't be tripped over, etc. Just in case you wanted to know where the tape got its name...
What excellent video! I plan on implementing this procedure for the reconstruction of an old concertina accordion instrument I found for less than $5 at a garage sale. Thank you!
To be honest, I'm surprised that you didn't 3d print the plastic slats. It would be ultra simple, but people could resize and adjust the thickness for their needs. Thanks for remaking this video. I saw the original, but didn't remember all the details.
Lol I tried finding the bellows video myself when you mentioned it in your last video. I figured it was just buried under a different name and thumbnail.
It might be fun to build a pipe organ with these. While it may be mostly amusing, there's some real value one can get from the effort. Namely, how to get consistent pressure and air flow, which I'm sure would be very valuable in a number of other applications.
Thank You Robert. I'll admit, what I envisioned was much more complicated in constructing. I Absolutely LOVE the way you not only discuss, but you actually Demonstrate Very Simple ways of accomplishing projects. I've lived by the K.I.S.S. Rule for years (Keep It Simple Stupid), sometimes, I tend to forget that Valuable Rule and allow my thoughts to become ... Progressively Entangled.
Not bad, a double piston pump is more effective; as you can a current on both pull & push strokes. If remember correctly, it was developed in ancient China & they used it for forging as well as warfare (ship to ship freakin flamethrowers).
There's a video here in YT making waterproof rubberized tarp from silicone caulking, solvent thinner, and bed sheet. Might work for larger size with wider vertical window, sliding door slats.
Gorilla Tape is not Gaffer Tape. Gaffer tape is used in theater a lot because it's easy to tear into strips (square mesh inside tears between runs) and the glue doesn't stick around afterward, wrecking what you've stuck it to. Gorilla tape is much stickier -- different glue entirely. The glue likes to slide around under gorilla tape instead of sticking it down hard. Also, gaffer tape can patch pleather throw away office furniture for temporary fix. Gorilla tape is just a hazard when used this way; slides all over, glues you to the seat, requires harsh chemicals to remove (my father's brilliant idea...)
Yep. Correct. "Gaffer's Tape" *NOT* "GAFFA tape" per the title. I will attest that Gaffer's Tape if left on long enough will leave adhesive residue behind!!!
For using this as the pump in the last video, I wonder if putting a one way valve on the top of the bellows, that lets air in on the up stroke, would make it easier to pump by hand.
Rob, had to mention this video as winding coils features in many of your videos, take a look at 'Girl Did Amazing Restoration Of Welding Machine At Home by Linguoer' no affiliation, just amazed 👌
Not to be pedantic, but Gorilla Tape is very much NOT gaff tape. Gaffer's tape is a very specific product, black non-reflective fabric tape with special gum glue used for stagecraft, which is nonconductive and (theoretically) doesn't leave glue residue when the tape is removed, even on carpeting. Within stagecraft circles it's pretty well known. On sets it's generally the Best Boy who has it (as the Gaffer's assistant), taping down wires against tripping hazards, and often all the Grips as well. You can use it for bandages, among other things, because the glue is widely known as (inadvertantly) a better antibiotic than the first aid cremes you generally apply. As well, gaff tape currently goes for something like $30 per roll.
Hi,i know your the man to ask but 'red nile' uploaded a short of how to re magnetise a magnet, can this be done with a dc magnetiser like one of those door lock electro magnetiser or is it only ac that can re magnitize a magnet?
I did enjoy the video but couldn't help to think that the same job could be done simpler. Moving the air. Something already made that can be easily modified like a bicycle pump?
What would happen if you use 4 microwave transformers to create the energy by spinning a very strong magnet between the microwave transformer coils how much energy would you get from it???? Can you use the energy to run a washing machine motor from it?? And then if it is possible can the washing machine motor keep on spinning with the very strong magnet between the 4 microwave transformers to keep on making energy to keep it running??????
It’s actually duct tape. “Gaffer” tape is a colloquialism. I reckon English hate their own language enough to refuse to annunciations the words so “gaffa” May be the correct colloquialism in England. Duct tape was designed for the purpose to sealing ducts so it will forever be the correct name as it’s the name given by its inventor.
What an embarrassing product placement for a gimmick named Duct tape. Do we all get a free roll of tape now? Maybe it’s a prelude to ..Competition: your best use for over glued duct tape 😁 you win a years supply of over priced tape. 😁🤦♂️ TNT can you be sponsored by a good oscilloscope company or something worth having and of value👍🏼😁
