Since I made my first Holy Communion at age seven, I have continued to try each day to be more Christ -like and forgive and help those who wish to understand the one true God and seek the kingdom of blessings that awaits us all, who do His will not ours .Amen. Have a beautiful and blessed Palm Sunday.✝️🙏✝️
I love being with you Bishop. I am at a loss with the humanity of Jesus. I think I know what you mean but I am struggling. Friendship with Jesus. I get that.
Thanks very much for the talk on my favorite saint St. Theresa of Avila @Bishop Homeming! I read her book when I was 15 years old... and she has since then become my spiritual guide... St. Theresa of Avila, pray for us always as we pray with you...
Thanks for this message, it was all about love and relationship is what I pick about life of this S.t. which helps me during this Lenten season as we journey on.
Thanks for this story of this saint the name of which I heard so much but not known much about life. Now I understand what your order is about. Thanks Bishop Greg.
St Teresa of Avila drew me to my Secular vocation. My Lenten reading is her Collected works translated to English by Kieran Kavanaugh O.C.D. and Otilio Rodriguez O.C.D. You have added an even greater depth of my appreciation of her holiness. She said,”…Christ is a very good friend because we behold Him as a man and see Him with weakness and trials- and He is very good company for us” . Thank you, Bishop for this Lenten retreat.
Dear Bishop, you talked about the Book. But what book do you have in front of you? In any case, thank you for your talk on St. Theresa of Avila. Even as I am a 3rd Order Franciscan, I find great spiritual guidance in her teaching. Pax et Bonum dear Bishop. Br. Karl OFS.
Sorry to Bishop Greg, but the truth is.... Saint Teresa didn't found the OCD, but she was forced to accept the division of OCD from OCarm. Surely there were injustice that eventually led to the separation. However, any division is not willed by God but permitted by Him. The two Orders need to be reunited. This is willed and desired by God and will reveal greater glory of God. OCD friars have the choice of to be remained as sons of Saint Teresa of Avila, or to be brothers of Saint Teresa of Avila and having Blessed Virgin Mother Mary as their only true spiritual Mother in heaven. Saint Teresa of Avila, pray for the Church! Saint Teresa of Avila, pray for us!
So, your OCD communities are places of unfettered friendship? You mentioned Teresa was jealous. I would add capricious too. Yet she speaks clearly about friendship. How then are some embraced by the Church and some are not? Doubtless some of your friars and sisters have come and gone feeling unappreciated and unwelcome. How do the Teresa's survive and others don't? God alone is clearly not sufficient from this perspective. Modern understanding of humanity, emotional intelligence etc.? These must surely also inform the 16th century Spanish cerebral.
