The Grill looks magnificent and it`s the icon of the BMW I believe. it`s the confidence of the driving pleasure, the heritage of driving history, and the proud of Bimmers.

The ride difference is about the adaptive suspension. I tested 430i with and without and bought with the adaptive set up. Totally agree that the ride is smooth and compliant in comfort mode

Nice review! I have a 430 GC ixdrive with idrive7. Issues: 4 cylinders in general, have a fairly limited torgue curve, and this one does as well. The upshifts are fine but the shifts get very sloppy if you not driving it aggressively. The main problem, with the 4 cyl auto is that there's virtually no engine braking, so I find I'm riding the brakes more than I'd like to.. It's acctually annoying I understand why BMW has adopted 4 cylinders at their standard engine, mpg being the driving reason; I consistent get 33=34+ @ 70-75 on the highway., but there's trade-offs- brake jobs being the major expense. The real thing that really honked me off, is BMW decided to make a pretty dramatic changes to the head lights. There's no corning lightsr head lights if if you don't pruchase adaptive headlights. But, what do you expect for $57k. I didn't think I'd need a $1,000 upgrade to be able to see aa turns are made going down dard or dimly lit side streets BMW has been screwing around with human/electronic interfaces going on 2 decades, and they still don't have it right. The voice interface is hideously slow, amd the menus were oviously designed in a back room. Integrating 3rd party apps is annoying as well. I'm not sure if it's Android Auto or Idrive that's the issue. Having had several cars with idrive, I'd say it more than likely is a BMW design issue. I don't have gorillia arms, so hitting electronic butttons on the touch screen at 70mph can be frustrating. If the voice interface was as fast as Teslas, the touch screen would be secondary. The the maintenance plans in generarl, now cover little more than oil changes, and perhaps brakes. BMW has also changed how they're addressing brake jobs as well. For years, BMW's position was rotors and pads are replaced under maintenance coverage. That has now changes to brake pads, perhaps turning rotors, and there's a remote chance of having rotors replaced. At $57k, i don't have a hud and I have the base stero. I don't know; if one is paying $57k for a car, should an ungraded stero just be part of what was purchased? The 430 GC is a nice car, but it's horribly overpriced.

I have debated the new 4 Series front grill. But noticed in your video, the tradition of more vertical grills (echos in 4´s grills) that have a long history with BMW, as shown in your video’s showing of a couple heritage BMW cars.

Followed you at exhaust sports as well. Great informative review as usual. If it was your money to buy a vehicle to keep for 5 years, would you buy this or a fully loaded G70 sport prestige 3.3TT? Just curious if the V6 and extra power would sway you over the BMW name and initial quality. Thanks

@MeynMotorGroup Год назад
Hello my friend, this is the Exhaust Sports Auto channel, I just rebranded it to Meyn Motor Group but thanks so much for your love and support! It depends on the financial situation I made a video talking about what car I would buy for each budget and it also depends how you make your money, through a job or through a business. If working a regular job I wouldn’t blow much money on cars I would buy a good Toyota or Lexus in cash and keep it as long as possible, there is no real incentive or write off when working a job to spend a lot on cars. If you have a business I would just lease whatever car I liked that wasn’t a terrible deal
@ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow
@ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow Год назад
I took the 430i for a test drive, last year, at the BMW drive event. It had the standard suspension. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't impressive in any way, IMO. A little too stiff for my preference. Regardless, I feel like they just "called it in" and pretty much copied whatever they did for the 3 series. IT FELT SUPER GENERIC - same numb steering and stiff ride in the 3 series. I didn't even complete the test drive -- just turned around and went back to the event -- and got a different car. I wish they would have differentiated this more from the 3 series - ride wise. It pretty much felt like a 3 series with a hatch. I just feel like there was zero effort put in to make it different, which was a let down -- especially the suspension. Why make 2 cars so similar to each other? Do we really need this many flavors of the 3 Series?
@MeynMotorGroup
@MeynMotorGroup Год назад
Yup pretty numb and soulless like most modern cars sadly. Still best to lease and dump these if one is in the market since most will get bored of these cars after 2-3 years. Just a cash grab for BMW making multiple variants of the same car. Gran coupe is nice for the hatch
@markpaine2208
@markpaine2208 Год назад
Is this 430 a softer ride because of the Adaptive M Suspension option which you have on this car? I don't think you had that option on the 330 you tested so it's hard to really compare ride quality between the two. Do you think the ride quality of the 330 would be much improved with the Adaptive M Suspension option?
@MeynMotorGroup
@MeynMotorGroup Год назад
So yes this car had the adaptive suspension which the 330 did not have however I really don’t think it’s the cause for night and day difference between the two. I think it would help the M Sport 330i to get the adaptive but the best ride would be to skip the M sport and get 18” wheels with some Continental all season tires, that would be the best riding 330i. This 430i and M440i I tested are just insanely smooth, adaptive dampers only offer subtle changes in ride quality with most cars I’ve tested

Im not super offended by the front ends anymore. Theyre polarizing. In a vaccuum the car wouldnt look good. Fortunately for BMW, theyre not being sold in a vaccuum. Audi design, while excellent, has begun to go stale and repetitive. Then you turn to look at Mercedes only to find theyve COMPLETELY fallen asleep at the wheel with their exteriors. That really only leaves you with these BMWs, and the Genesis products when shopping for one of these more 'regular' (not RS, M, AMG) luxury choices. Anything else would mostly be a downgrade either in materials or in power (your Volvo, Acura, Lexus offerings)
@sergiopereira9546
@sergiopereira9546 Год назад
Doing different just for the sake of beign different isnt necessarily good , Lexus did it and they got made fun off for a decade . Still on the Lexus topic these new BMW rear ends look like they could be on a Lexus so its nothing groundbreaking for me neither the big ugly grills . Keeping on the Lexus topic an IS350 Fsport costs the same as this , has more power and more reliable engine by nature and although the interior looks old the quality wasnt lost , matter of fact i think old cars have better build quality than modern cars ,and still has the LFA inspired cluster wich is the coolest to ever exist in the industry and gives that car interior the spice it needs also its a good looking car unlike the last generation and i wish we had them here(europe) and Lexus had the following of BMW so the Lexus sedans ddidnt have to die
@devongee1776
@devongee1776 Год назад
@Sergio Pereira I'm not looking to knock Lexus, but the papers almost never tell the full story, and that goes double if it's a Japanese car. Like it or not, they have to prove themselves way harder than the established and solidified Germans do. The IS350 may have more power - I doubt it's quicker. They're also smaller and thus less usable. The Germans beat the Japs in other ways too... technology is a huge box for Lexus to be leaving unchecked whilst trying to sell cars to generations younger than the millennial. I've also been left unimpressed by Lexus's Mark Levinson sound system. At least inside the brand new top trim 2023 Lexus RX 350... it's nothing remarkable, let alone class-leading. Can't say the same for the work that Bowers and Wilkins has been doing in the latest Volvos and BMWs. They're laying down the law on audio quality and delivery. I like some of the cars Lexus makes. The LC500 with a new infotainment would soar back to the top 5 list of dream cars easily. I can appreciate the 'F' cars from back in the day. Buying a Lexus now, though? For any reason other than "I'm a Scotty Kilmer viewer and I wanna keep my car for 20 years!" Is a no-go. For the real buyer in this segment, which is mostly just lease-and-dumps by people who want something new every 3 years or less, the Asian cars have nothing to touch Germany with. Only one to even make a real dent in that gap would have to be Genesis, which is why they got an honorable mention from me in the last comment.
@MeynMotorGroup
@MeynMotorGroup Год назад
Yea the rest of the car looks so good that I can sort of get over the grill especially in darker colors
@sergiopereira9546
@sergiopereira9546 Год назад
@@devongee1776 yeah to lease , Germans will always be better with their useless gadgets people call tech . People who have money to buy these cars new are usually old people and those people barely use the infotainment and to be fair the IS has a touchscreen with wireless android auto and car play and that's good enough for a facelift of the a car that's going away in the next few years. I'm not the biggest fan of modern cars anymore so thats probably why I like to bash on them
@devongee1776
@devongee1776 Год назад
@Sergio Pereira no arguing that wireless smartphone protection is a huge step up. BMW does tend to offer that too so idk if that's a leg up in Lexus's favor there. I've never owned a wireless implementation of AA/AC but I know there are people out there that shop specifically on wireless. I have a coworker who turned down Mercedes and Genesis, among others, because they did not have wireless Apple carplay or at least did not offer at that price point. This is the same coworker that I got my sampling of the Mark Levinson system, as she went with the '23 RX Luxury trim @ $70,000. I wasn't impressed by the tech or the sound system but at a glance I can easily see how Lexus can win over a lot of people in their showrooms. The new generation of Lexus interiors rolling out are quite nice and there's a great mix of materials. No love has been shown yet, though, to models that I'd actually want (mentioned above). But the mom cars at least, are doing good rn for Lexus.

M340i in this spec with this interior and bronze wheels seem the way to go The 3 series might had felt stiffer because of the tires , from the footage it seem that the tire profile in the 3 series was lower and it was on summer tires and goodyear summer tires have a reputation of being sporty and stiff. on this 4 series they look a bit fatter and all seasons
